Sweet Xterra. Glad to see some people keeping them pretty.
I love my 05’ off-road edition 💚👍🏼 cheers from Oregon 🌬💨💚
Awesome! Wish mine was off-road edition. Hope you're well over there!
I hear Oregon is there Xterra's natural habitat. I'm jealous
Thanks for the updates. Too often we see the original fix/mod with no follow up, and we're left to wonder if it's worth the time and expense. Very informative and helpful!!
Totally agree. Glad you liked the video. Next one coming this Friday about the Mechanical work.
Got an 01 x with just over 150,000 km what a great SUV nothing like em
Love the videos of your xterra I have a 2006 with 190000 miles and it’s a six speed manual never hade any problems with it great suv
👍🏻💪🏻
Thanks for the update. I used your guides for dismantling the grill and repainting after the afternoon sun did damage. The headlight restoration was also a fantastic fix. Now I just have to continue through the list.
Heck yes! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
This video is very helpful. I am fan of your channel as I have a 2005 Frontier Nismo Off-Road 6 speed. Thank You very much for the update. I am sure it will help many of us.
great channel Ry!
Love xterra videos!
Thanks me too! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
I love your Xterra content as well. I have an '09.
Nice!! Wish mine was a bit newer.
Thank you so much. I just got a 2015 Xterra s. And I'm going to use the bed liner paint on all the plastics and grill. Nice to know that it held up.
You’ll love it. It’s been a great paint job.
Just as a baseline, how many cans of the truck liner paint did it take to do all of it?
Ray! How come your channel not have at least a couple hundreds thousands subscribers.. you are putting a great neat content, useful, helpful easy to do with your thorough details explained and resources for the best parts. The time, passion and dedication in your videos is extraordinary.
I swear if you give me an appointment to take a look at my 2015 Pro 4x and tell me what’s going on with it since I took to the dealership couple times with almost $3200 spent and the problem is still there. I would drive up from Texas to where you at and pay you whatever the price you ask for… man I really need your help… I love my xterra
Thanks Brad. I really appreciate that. As a rule I don't work on the publics cars since I lack the proper insurance. Too much of a liability. However if you want to email me at ry@rtcg.tv to tell me about the problem I would be happy to help you diagnose it.
Great, I've been watching your videos for 2 years. I actually did the timing chain kit job for my path r51 based on your video and some nissan tech details. A like for that and long live the king!
Thanks man!
U guys need to come to Texas to do my 07 pathfinder 4x4 timing tensioner … we’ll done
Thanks!
Ayyy! Thank you sir. I really appreciate that.
Looks good. I have a 2012 frontier and your videos are really helpful. Doing an end link tomorrow. Thanks for the help. Oh, next on my list is your hood struts. I really want those. The hood arm works but has been broken for 10 years. Thanks again!👍
Heck yea. Thanks for watching man. The hood struts are a game changer. I love quality of life upgrades.
That’s exactly what I need! My hood arm has also been broken, and just always been a pain to hold them up.
RTCG, I used to have a 1959 datsun 1000 truck! True story. Still have the owners manual :)
Oh man! I have always wanted a old Datsun 210. Hope you enjoyed it.
As soon as I saw your license plate, I could understand the good condition of your Nissan. Living in the north, with the winters and road salt, the condition of the undercarriage is like watching death by a thousand cuts. The worst was the solid rust ball of chain when I needed to drop the spare tire. Now I am dealing with a back hatch door rust problem that may be thru a pinch weld in the door at the top. I am truely envious of your vehicle. Good work.
Loretta, I am very grateful to have Florida cars. I empathize with you as I grew up in Michigan and I understand how brutal rust can be. Makes me appreciate where I am at even more. I hope your rig is still running strong though!
@@Rythecarguy It is still running well and I rely on it during the winter especially. Recently I had to evict mice or red squirrels from the air box who found out that chewing the air filter in pieces was a great pastime. When the MAF sensor got a particle of the filter material on it, I had to evict them and place a metal screen into the air box input port. Always something!
Hey, I’m not sure if you will see this but in one of ur old timing chain videos I ask you a question about how to get the crank pulley off without the 180$ tool. Thank you for you help and your videos is a life saver
Also is there any faster way to contact you if I have any questions Instagram maybe?
And can you do a video for replacing the front headlights? Mine have been a problem for several years. Driving down the road & they just went out. So I'm assuming I need to put new ones in or replace the connecting wires! 🤔 Pain in the butt although I can jiggle the wires & they lights will flicker on & off. But I'd like to install new lights for a better appearance! THANKS AGAIN SO MUCH! :)
Ry, the fog light addition is super easy. It's already wired, just grab some Amazon lights and a switch. In fact I might even have the oem switch here I can send out
Yes, I've been eyeing that kit for some time now. List is getting shorter though.
@@jamesgandia8099 I just realized he's using the oem wiring g for the light bar
Yea I did have factory fogs in there before and they glass broke in a matter of weeks. But you're right. I repurposed the wiring for my light bar.
Interesting. I have had really good success with Krylon myself. X looks great!
Yea honestly I should have done better prep. I likely would have had better results.
What is the full label name of the product?
@@Lishailaumus Krylon Fusion, for use on plastic. It's self priming as well.
Hi great video, where I can find the paint for everything you show here, new follower
Hey Ry thanks so much for the content!!
Got an 11 Pro4X about 2.5 years ago and been watching your channel ever since. I did the whole Krylon thing and not impressed just like you. Anyways, what color did you end up using for the Rustoleum
I NEED to repaint & pop a dent put of my drivers side corner bumper. What do you recommend I pop the dent out with? And what was the full label name of the paint you used on your bumper??? This will be ONE of my summer projects! THANKS for all your help! :)
All that work paid off, looks great! Have you had any issues with motor mounts on the xterra?
Are the motor mounts a hhe project to replace? I guess i have 2/3 are broken..
Love your videos. Headlight video helped me out a ton. Still dealing with a bad shake that I cannot figure out. Tried a used driveshaft and I joint and no change. Brand new tires. My xterra is a 2006 we bought new. It has 407k miles on the stock 6 speed manual trans and motor. Just routine work done over the years anything it needed. Shake has been around for 10k miles. Love this truck and idk if I'll ever get rid of it. The shake is the only thing that makes me not want to drive it to far but like I said its been 10k miles shaking and still nothing has broke and its still shaking. A few mechanics came up with nothing and told me to balance my brand new tires. When its in 4wd the shake is worse and when you let off the throttle in 4wd H going like 45 it makes a louder clunking noise which makes me think it is not tires. Maybe a front ddriveshaft u joint?? Anything helps thanks ry
Hey Andrew. Glad you like this videos. YT is terrible at managing comment threads so please shoot me an email at ry@rtcg.tv
It is my personal opinion that Safelite sucks. I had them replace a windshield on a 1991 Infiniti G 20 that I had restored and they left the big goo gap in the windshield so when I got on the freeway, it sounded like the freeway was blowing through the windshield.
Hey Ry, The link in your description to the parts you used doesn't work but i would like to look at some of the parts you used still. Could you please update it or just link the parts themselves
Im in the process of painting the bumpers also, just need the front to do, you have a video on the subwoofer you have in the back? Always see it there in your videos, I have the 8 inch under the seat but want one in the back for more bump
Nice! I don't have a build video but I made a video on my second channel and supplied schematics. Here you go! ua-cam.com/video/nVlp6z3RC98/v-deo.html
Hey !!! Planning to do some mods from this video. Can you please drop exact product of bumper paint? is it glossy or satin black? I Guess there is product number on Rust-Oleum Range. Thnaks
Did you use the bed liner for the rear metal bumper and front bumper plastic bumper??? And side running boards??? Which do you think is better rust oleum or herculiner ???
front grill looking unique, i want to know if you are using your oem rearview mirror, mine just doesnt exists and i've been trying to get a good one.
I am not. I installed one with a screen to use for my backup camera. ua-cam.com/video/Mtc_iNAK4rE/v-deo.html
Thanks for the update. I'm about to do por15 on the rear bumper and paint over it. Do you think putting a top coat over the frame would've helped it last a bit better?
After researching it it sounded like the top coat was really more about UV protection and that you really only need it if the paint will be exposed to direct sunlight. However who knows, it could have helped right?
Great videos!! I have a 2008 XTERRA. Where do you find your replacement parts. Like interior or exterior moldings bumpers. For instance my drivers side seat needs to be replaced but I can’t find a replacement cushion anywhere. I would like to keep the same Nissan black and gray pattern material. Any suggestions
For interior parts I look on Ebay and Amazon. Not in love with those companies but they seem to have a lot of what I need. Otherwise breaker/junk yards are a great source too!
Do you plan on restoring your roof rack? I was going to at one point but those bolt that hold it on are a nightmare 😅
Probably not. I took it off at one point to clean up there but I don't wanna do it again.
I am planning removing plastics along the side of the doors. I know you struggled removing with the adhesive. What was your best technique to remove the adhesive? FYI.. I did the alldogs lift and I love it!!
Far and away the eraser wheel was best. Glad you love the kit! Nice right?
@@Rythecarguy it is great… my X is riding and handling so much better
I can't find a link to the crack repair, was driving the wife's car and took a nasty rock to the windshield.
at the link to ry's parts, it just has one picture, so click it, and it'll lead to all the other parts.
Thank you, I'll try to fix that.
@RyTheCarGuy What about the heated seats? How have those held up? Any issues?
Yeah I spoke briefly about them in part two. Nothing really to remark on, they still work as good as the day I installed them!
@@Rythecarguy Awesome! Great to hear, I am thinking about doing them in mine, just did the footwell lights and loved how they turned out. Thanks for all the videos!
If ya ever decide to sell it (duh, doubtful obviously) I got dibs 😉
💪🏻🤘🏻you'll be first on the list.
I have a 2009 nissan xterra 4x4 while driving the vdc and slip light would turn on the the car would turn off. Do you have any suggestions to how to repair this problem. Thank you
@@johnodonoghue651 thank you I'll look into
I had a similar set of lights appear but the engine did not shut off. My mechanic disconnected sensors to run diagnostics but could not find a root cause. Reconnecting the wires made the problem disappear. It was most likely a lose connection.
I remember when you installed the factory fog lights. Why did you decide to remove them?
The glass shattered a couple weeks after I installed them
@@Rythecarguy was it from damage it was it a bad product
I think it was shit that got flung at at the front bumper on the free way.
I thought you did some of the plastics with fire? Was that the Titan?
Yep! I did. But that was only about a month ago.
@@Rythecarguy I will be curious to see how that turns out. But but when you did that at I had replaced all the plastic on my frontier bed Previously. So when you did that I took a couple pieces of the old stuff and I torched them and then I'm going to leave them out all summer On my back patio or on the roof of my shed and just see what happens
You forgot to mention your hood struts.
I actually decided against talking about those in this video because I have only had those for a little while.
@@Rythecarguy Got it. I need to do it on my Xterra.
@@Rythecarguy and arguably, mechanical.
...begins with "S" and ends with "afelite" - LOL
😂
I have rust so can't say mine is an easy fix. Of course I'm in Ohio so....
damn rust...
