The Singer 15 is still made by Singer in India. A very good machine.

Fascinating. I saw one for sale online and I wondered what the story was. Thank you!

I have a 15NL (Taiwan), early 80's model, and It doesnt sound clunky and noisy as yours. With good oiling works and sounds nicely.

Thank you so much for your comment. I have oiled the machine but the quality is not near the quality of an older Singer class 15.
Have a great weekend and again: thank you for your comment.

A lot of copies with different names exist and are made in south asia, i.e., Pakistan, India. Also this model is still available by singer in Pakistan called 15ksa. Singer gives lifetime warranty on it and usually adjust them such that they work okay. Yes oiling needs to be done quite often to keep them quite.

      Hi again,
So nice of you to leave this info below this video too. I really appreciate that!
Yes, I had the noisy problem too. Almost half a bottle sewing machine oil went into my Nostalgia 🙂 LOL

Wow, that is a squeaky machine! This is a good video to show new people the difference between nostalgia and original.

Thank you Jane. It is really noisy, especially when you don't give it enough oil ;-) The original Singers can withstand a lot, but these machines are not worth the money.
      Take care, Erik

Thanks for sharing Erik! I just recently acquired a genuine vintage Singer 15-91 complete with the original cabinet. The owner generously gave it to me for free. Apparently it does not work properly so I am looking forward to bringing it back to life. I have a small collection of vintage Singers.

Hi Sandra. Thank you for your message.
The 15-91 is a great machine. Reliable, tough and almost indestructible. Do you know what's wrong with it?
      Good luck on your project!

This machine still on market but with plastic compact case. Called "DRAGONFLY JA2-2" and imported from China. Works like original Singer.

I did not know that. Thank you for sharing!
The Butterly sewing machines are also produced in China (I think) and look similar to the Singer Nostalgia/class 15.

@@erikneek also some of this frankenstein produced in Afghanistan and India. You can see some videos about full process of production.

Hi Richard. Thank you so much for watching and your message.
I have multiple videos on the 15k88 including a long video on that machine. The 15-90 similar to the singer 15-88. The 90 has a solid balance wheel on the rear, the 88 has a spoke balance wheel.
      Take care

How sad. People could get a real vintage or antique Singer 15 that runs smooth as butter for a fraction of the price, and which will last another 50-100 years.

I agree Jo. Most Singer class 15 models are available for next to nothing and the will run a lifetime (or more than only one lifetime). They are sooooo much better than a Singer 15 Nostalgia.

I got one of these today I know it is a cloned or nostalgic machine as some people call them it doesn't sew bad yeah it is kinda noisy the one I have doesn't have the hand crank on it so kind of like wondering how old is this machine then was it made in 1980 or 1990 when did they stop making hand cranks on these machines lol

    • @erikneek
      @erikneek  Рік тому +1

Hi. Well... usually I congratulate people on their new acquired Singer machine. In this case: Should I congratulate you? 🙂 LOL
The Singer Nostalgia was actually made since the 1970s up to the 1990s. Personally I've only seen hand cranked machines, but you can easily convert them to a bolt on motor.
Any Singer Nostalgia is noisy. And has a lot of play on the parts. Have you had the pleasure of sewing with an 'original' Singer class 15? Or any other 'normal' vintage Singer? If not, try it. You'd be amazed.
Good luck on your machine and take care.

      HI
Yes I have my grandfather worked in the singer factory in San Francisco we had a factory size 15 in our garage we had many singers in our family over the years the very last singer sewing machine was an old throttle that was converted into electric
During world war 2 and I also have a 1969 singer dressmaker that I wouldn't trade for anything in this world yes I knew that this machine that I had just got was a clone and it's okay I mean it sounds good and from what I could see was very well taken care of it is heavy and I checked it out before I got it so I pretty much knew what I was getting for what I needed for it'll do

      Singer Model 28.
      H430757. Gemaakt in 1906.
      Alle info is welkom 🙂

      Succes!

Hi, I bought this machine. How can I oil it?

    • @erikneek
      @erikneek  8 місяців тому

Hi. The inner components are similar (yet lower quality as the normal Singer class 15). I have a video on oiling a Singer 15k88. Maybe you find that useful.
      Good luck.
