Wow, just discovered your channel via the youtube music library (thanks so much, by the way, for making those amazing cosmic sounding samples/tunes available for free!). Also really loving your channel. Just subscribed.
I am a multiburst! Thanks for the demo, Cinematic Laboratory's vid led me here. It sounds like this might be a possible replacement(or adjunct) for Maths. This gave me some ideas about how to build my 3-4 module starter kit someday.
@@DivKid i Made a Short Envelope with one Stage triggered by the X2 section and a Long rising Envelope with two stages triggered by the x3 section. With every x algorithm adjusting x3 to the slower Side and syncing marbles as 16th notes i Had some great results!
Without external help, the Befaco doesn't do the ramping of levels and this doesn't do the ramping of time. This is envelopes that are bursting, not just triggers.
you don't. used market has never been cheaper. I'm one of the poorest people I've known among people with a college degree and I managed to build a great one over a number of years if you're not consumerist elsewhere.
@@NickHchaos you have been able to build a modular setup as of this moment in time, if and only if it were the case that I (who you are only talking to now, for the first time) had not been consumerist in the past? Is this some kind of quantum superposition thing?
@@aussois1027 lol, I just mean I don't own a house, a car, I don't buy fancy clothes, don't eat out much, etc. Virtually everything I own of any value is tied up my instruments.
Unfortunately this is an expensive hobby. Think about 10 or 20 K at least. Sure you can buy some used stuff and start with 2 or 3 K but then it needs a lot of self control to stop there.
Thanks for this! The official description says that the shortest individual envelope is 20ms, which is pretty slow as far as envelopes go, and certainly too slow for a burst. But after watching this, I guess by "individual envelope" they mean the overall duration of the entire set of bursts, and the "envelope" they are referring to is the envelope that controls the amplitude of the sub-envelopes within the burst. That's a relief, because as much as I love AJH modules, their envelopes can't go quite as fast as I sometimes want. But your demo here shows me all I needed to know. This bad boy is definitely gonna be added to my racks.
Glad the video has been useful for you and shown you what you needed to see. The double clock mixing options and sloping is a really nice feature here.
Is the cv an offset or does the pot become an attenuator when patched? I assumed offset but I think you said attenuator without more detail during vid. Can't seem to find a manual. Thanks
From the product webpage "We can also patch an external CV to the BR-CV Input to select the number of Bursts, in this case the Bursts control becomes an attenuator for the incoming CV." "The LFO rate can also be varied with an external CV as a sequence is progressing, so the gap between envelopes can speed up or slow down over time." - this one also becomes an attenuator for the external CV, so the knob becomes a nice sort of range selector for using a gate for adding in the internal LFO on top of external clocks. "The Slope parameter can be controlled with a CV to the SLP-CV input, and in this case the Slope control becomes an attenuator for the incoming CV. However, changes to the Slope setting do not have any effect while a burst sequence is running, they will not take effect until a new Burst Sequence is triggered." "The envelopes can also be selected by patching a CV of between 0V and +5V to the ENV-CV Input. The rotary switch is taken out of circuit and disabled when an external CV is patched in." Hope that helps.
Hello, this is out now. Hopefully you can find it in the stores you like to use. If not give them a heads up you're looking for one. As that's always helpful for everyone.
Great! but I am a bit confused with the Gate output, why do you use it mixed with the other output, if the gate doesn´t have any envelope at all? so you miss the best of the MBE with this gated output...
I'm showing the gate out on the scope and the envelope at points. I'm also using separately sequenced gates with the outputs of the MBE here mixed together to merge behaviours. So I'm not sure what you mean. Can you point me to a specific time/point in the video.
Such a unique module! I feel like this module would be crazy comboed with Qubit Cascade.. Can you make a tutorial on Cascade next? I have one coming in the mail and there arent too many good videos on it yet.
Hi Bob, sorry to hear that. Just for future reference a UA-cam comment can easily get missed as I get lots of those and they can be buried. No problem doing so of course I'm just glad I saw it. Where did you buy the module? You can contact the store directly or you can message www.instruomodular.com/contact/ Just note most of the industry will be in Berlin for Superbooth this week. So it might be worth sending a follow up next week once people start returning back home and to work.
I am a multi burst! 😂 Unrelated to this amazing module, but do you have some sort of metal framing between all of your modules? It looks really slick and I’d love to get some if they’re able to be bought anywhere.
@@nathturn3869 oh, lol. I hadn’t realized that every other module was an AJH Synth module, which would give the appearance of all of the modules having a metal frame around them. 🤦🏼♀️ Thanks for pointing that out for me! It does look super clean. Might have to invest in some of their modules.
Marbles will do burst like triggers in the mode that shifts the clock division and multiplications but it won't make envelopes and do what this does. Different modules so it's hard to compare. Although I appreciate you're thinking about modulation and the space you have.
@@DivKid Thanks for the reply. Honestly, I could see a need for both of them with what I want to do. However, went with marbles first and will keep an eye out for one of these to hit the used market
@@DivKid exactly my thoughts but with Marbles clocking my bloom sequencer as well. I’m aiming for some jazzy interplay between the sequence going to my neutron and the bursts of envelopes going to the filter cutoff
There's some near the end of the video. However to do it better than I did there (I wasn't trying to make bouncing balls). You'd trigger an envelope at the same time as triggering the burst then use the envelope to control the LFO time. So you get that slow start ramping up to fast end. It will slope the level from loud to quiet bursts for you on the module.
I am a mrga multi burst. Great video!
haha yes you are! Thanks
Good to see the mighty Eloquencer sequencer here.

Hey, thanks for going into this in such detail. Great presentation.
thanks Peter, a pleasure to work with good people and good gear and be able to share some ideas. Appreciate the comment.

Even just one module per month would mean you end up with a 36 module setup over the span of three years which could easily be over 300hp.
