Double strike may not always hit twice. If it is blocked by another creature with first strike and it dies during that phase, then it will not apply the 2nd attack.

That's so funny, as you were explaining hexproof with the example of Carnage Tyrant and putting Blanchwood Armor on it, I was playing MTGA and had Tyrant on the board with a Blanchwood in my hand about to play.
Bear in mind that Deathtouch applies to *all* damage dealt by the creature. This means that if you have a way to deal chip damage outside of battle such as by way of an equip or enchantment, or you put Deathtouch on a creature with an ability that does it, then the opponent's creature will still die due to Deathtouch. Do note though that the ability must state that the creature itself deals the damage, not just that damage is dealt

Hi I'm learning mtg. Does this mean that first strike's damage turn negates deathtouch? Does death touch count as standard combat turn that gets skipped if the first strike eliminates the target?
@@clamder11 you've probably learned since asking but with first strike and double strike you need to imagine a separate attacking phase has been created. A creature with death touch can only use it against the first attack of double strike or against first strike in defense if the creature also has one of those. Example would be if you have a 1/1 with double strike attacking a 2/2 with only death touch. The first 1 damage would hit and the 2/2 wouldn't attack in that new phase but the second strike takes place in the main attack phase so the death touch will apply.

As someone just getting into mtg after ygo, I find this EXTREMELY HELPFUL. Only way this would be better is if you made one that explains in yugioh terminology.
For these I’d recommend time stamping so people can find a specific ability quicker. Been trying to figure out the exact rulings for parley. Like if I can tap to attack without attacking or activate the ability

Please explain how "delve" works. I battled with a friend and he basically summoned the monster out using the "delve" ability to pay for it all by exiling his grave cards. I thought you first have to pay for the cost to summon your creature then when its on the field, you can use its ability.
Delve is an ability that effects how the creature is brought into play. A super busted mechanic imo, it's too powerful to be able to exile from the graveyard instead of pay mana costs lol I don't think it's considered legal in standard play anymore.
I get all of these. I'm having trouble with emergence from eldritch moon. So you pay the emergence cost and sacrifice another creature. Is that all??? It's the last sentence in the flavor that keeps getting me confused. Thanks.

Unless that has changed recently, or I'm just stupid. It is quite possible that reach isn't an ability in Arena. I just downloaded and haven't played yet. Tapping a land gives you 1x mana to spend toward your spell. If you’re playing Arena online the land tapping is automatic but you can also do it manually.

Or maybe wasn't called madness in 2018(I was onut of the game so I don't know) like Menace was NOT a name we used back in the day, neither was Lifelink or Vigilance now that I think about it! The abilities were printed out fully on the cards when they had these things. NOR was REACH when I started, like Lifelink and Vigilance it WAS a thing but didn't have the name yet!

@@olafjurek2137 It does NOT!!! Or should NOT, there have been MANY iffy rulings over the years and I have been out of the MTG loop for awhile! Hexproof just keeps your opponents from being able to TARGET your creature with things like SHOCK or HALL MONITOR(I think it's called). Shock deals damage to TARGET creature and Hall Monitor can be used to prevent TARGET creature from blocking. HOWEVER, and I'm not really sure how much it is used now that there is Hexproof, PROTECTION from a color, from just damage(Pretty sure there is ACTUALLY a creature that just had protection from damage, might have been an Unhinged or similar spoof card though), or from creatures or creature types WOULD as long as the Deathtouch came from whatever you have protection from! Again though, I could be wrong! The governing bodies have always like to make rulings that made ZERO sense! There used to be a whole back and forth about "coming into play"(payed mana cost for) and "PUTTING into play"(used another thing to bring it back) that was REALLY REALLY dumb and no one could ever remember what the ruling was!

NO! Indestructible prevents DESTROY effects and Deathtouch is a DESTROY effect. Only -x/-x, exile, or returning the card to their hand will get rid of it! I guess if you force them to SACRIFICE a creature, or whatever thing, with Indestructible that would work too but that is hard to pull off!
Some spells or instants have the ability to exile a card, meaning that it can never be brought back. Like if a card was in the graveyard, some creatures or spells ect can summon it back, but if the card is exiled that cant happen and it will never be used again during the game.
That is MTG Arena, it's a game! It is basically Magic's answer to/capitalization of things like Hearthstone. Came in especially handy during Covid with the whole "no gathering in groups" suggestion!

There’s also the fun interaction where the deathtouch creature has 0 or negative power and therefore doesn’t apply.
