Of course my lights have never worked in the freight elevator since it was introduced. getting fuel is also messed up now... :(
For engineering i really hope they'll allow players to just pay for repairs and stuff at landing services instead of having to fix and replace things themselves. I like the vision but I don't want to be a ship mechanic
That actually would work well into the desire to have players stay in an area for awhile, say you have a "lot" of damage, it won't be fixed quickly so while the techs are fixing your ship you can explore the town or area 🤔
While I do wish they started working on dynamic server meshing first to avoid unnecessary work and wait, the recent tests seem like they're finally making progress toward becoming an mmo
Dynamic meshing is subdividing, merging or moving the boundaries of a static server mesh. They've already shown they can handle moving objects crossing fixed server boundaries, so moving server boundaries is just like moving stationary objects from the authority of one server to another. It's essentially the same thing, but orchestrated differently. Upshot: the movement of boundaries is directly built upon the previous work. There's no wasted effort.

as long as we can fly anything solo i findt it good why bacause why not it would be amazing cool for screenshots and video,s flying the polaris irdris bmm rsi orion and more
Great review as always! You have encouraged me to jump back in. Something I would like to see for us who do not have a crew and fly solo for the time being is the ability to mask or cover our ship with a sort of camo when we land and leave the ship. Similar to the WW2 days of throwing a new or some sort of camo over the ship to prevent people from seeing your ship on the ground or at minimum, make it harder. A cloaking device would be amazing that has some sort of timer on it similar to Star Trek 4's Klingong Bird of Prey. Fired up to get the Zeus. Thanks for all the detailed updates. You keep me engaged with as SC continues to evolve.
I think they're going to have to be careful with the "completely lawless" plan. If I spend 10-20 minutes loading up my cargo in Stanton, flying to the jump point, waiting to jump, get through, get to the correct station, land and while unloading get killed I'd likely never go to Pyro again for non combat missions. Hopefully there is an element of security at outposts when doing commercial based stuff
The point of a lawlesss high risk region is, that you do stuff for a much bigger reward. Its on your side if you want to do it the risky way or hire npc or people for protection.
@@AmokseppGer hiring people or NPCs for protection is risky either way, considering social dynamics there is no guarantee one of your protectors isn’t a rat informant or is also taking money for intel. A lawless region is just that. It’s up to the players to create a sense of hierarchy
You're basically just asking for a lawful system which blows my mind. We are going to have 3 star systems that are lawful now, there's no reason to ruin the lawless side of things just so you get another system. You'll miss out and that's fine.
Might be smart to trickle it out more and at a steady rate. We all seen how borked and then delayed the cargo patch/personal hangers had been (in the beginning). But that might have already talked about it, who knows).
The speed with which they patched 3.24 from very broken to very playable shows me that their underlying codebase, system architecture, and general proficiency as a company are quite solid.
The increased player caps in the tests this week are looking really good. THe lines at the ASOP terminals could be a good incentive to live at planets and use your personal hangars.
A lot of features in 4.0 but except server meshing and engineering, not so much potentially broking features. They are doing preview tests now for server meshing. They should do the same for engineering in Arena Commander for engineering. But there will be a lot of new locations, missions, configuration and database in 4.0 in the Pyro system that could contain errors but it will not have systemic consequences. A lot is based on already deployed features.
Knowing CIG the way I do, at this point in time I expect "at most" that 4.0 will come to the PTU around XMas and stay there for the holidays until they return to work next year. Much like 3.18 was if memory serves.
Then just don't play it over the holidays? It's an Alpha that you're meant to be testing, not treating like a full release that you're entitled to play at a polished state
@@mattp1337 I won't be skimping on anything, apart from cheap Motorola phones I haven't spent money on tech or holidays in years. I'm starting my research this weekend 👍
Thx for the video. Havnt followed SC much the last years, but it is nice to see that the BoredGamer summary videos are still there and still an efficient informationbase.
I cant complete hardly any bounties because the final way-point wont show up once I arrive in the vicinity of the planet or area of space. Bought the game December 2016, played a little over the years, been dorment since probably 2018/2019. Started playing it again this week after getting a rig that can run it. Some new things are nice, but as always; bugs ruin any enjoyment still.
Seeing the player increases is very reassuring. It used to be weird to find another player anywhere in the verse.. will be odd waiting in line for things, or to get repairs at landing bays.
As always thanks for the summery, great to stay up to date when life gets busy. Love the Zues MKII clips amazing looking ship, also can't believe you're giving away a Syulen on of my favorites incredible design. Thanks. keep em coming
I know it's a lot of stuff for a single patch, but it didn't seem like a lot until you did the rundown. I think I joined the game at a perfect time. (Tail end of 3.22) Because I got to hear some stories of 3.18, then experience the 3.22 flight model and jump right in to 3.23. This does seem to have been an incredible year. I hope they finish strong.
I wonder if they'll make a few bigger stations in Stanton now that we see the huge ones in Pyro. I'd love if there were a few Pyro-grade stations even in "civilized" space.
I think Pyro's space station tech is a few iterations beyond what was used in Stanton, which was a few iterations beyond the original Port Olisar. It's inevitable that at some point they'll rebuild all the stations in Stanton. But they might wait until they feel that technology is finalized before doing that work, so it's hard to say when.
@@mattp1337true, and I think Stanton might be crowded with too many huge stations, but a central station closer to pyro gate or one of the other gates would make sense in a lore perspective imho
@@XxTavoRxX It may also depend on how far they can push the server tech. Even if server meshing works as hoped, the final pass on system density may look very different if the persistence database backend imposes a hard limit on how many players can be active within a single star system, whether it's 500 or 5000 or 50,000. I'm optimistic that won't be an issue, but I don't think anybody knows for sure yet.
MFD's and more fixes along with the Zeus I'm looking forward to most atm, oddly though a lot of those lesser Server Meshing dependent features could actually come earlier too depending on how ready they are and whether they have most their functions working before 4.0
I mean, _just_ pyro access? by "just" you mean pyro with farms, salvage yards, trading posts, stations/ruin station, ghost arena, asteroid bases/clusters, contested zones, factions, solar flares, outposts, all 6 planets and 6 moons, all in one patch. They were doing like 1 planet a year before, I'd take pyro without meshing tbh or just meshing
I keep accidently hitting F near any of my 4 bunks in my Freelancer MISC UR and crawling into my bunk on the way to the cockpit and then can't get out of the bunk. Exit seat doesn't work, no 'F' to exit, nothing. Forces me to logout. Every update I login to check to see if it's fixed, it isn't, I logout and don't play any more. Tired of it.
Man, some of these updates are going to be epic. I do have minor concerns for time consumption (being a working parent myself, but that's a me problem). Having to deal with radiation and oxygen levels will further increase the depth of the game alone, fires and ware on specific component's will be cool as well. Adding the engineer option to the game and the player will be awesome for those who have ships to cater to larger crews, being able to dish out more roles and variety. I haven't partaken in the Private Test server (Fairly new player myself) but I do know they have been testing very large number's of players per server, pressing to around 1000 if I'm not mistaken? Still waiting for what I think is much needed, ship upgrades being static. The option to perhaps insure or add those items to your insurance so you don't have to keep repurchasing your parts. Ships you buy with aUEC and the option to insure those as well. All in all, sounds very exciting! :D
It is likely that something will drop out but i assume that many items were "stuck" until the 4.0 tech came out so it makes sense that it will be a big patch.
I agree with an earlier poster, it's likely that these features will be split over 4.x patches. Still I'm looking forward to 4.0 itself hitting the servers in some form by years end.
This is going to be so cool. I imagine some features won't be available at launch, but will launch as they a stabilized (as stabilized as you get with this game).
All of this sounds interesting and I do like that they are moving some stuff into the 3.24.x patch. Just skeptical on timing and how good this will be when released. We have seen lots promised and then stuff left off or removed when they release the patches
Reputation only matters if it lingers well after arrest, or death, due to the fact that death doesn't really matter in a video game. I also think that reputation should apply to your owned ships as well(only when used in crime or attack). Even in the first star wars, the millenium falcon was already in the Empires logs as a vessel that shot its way off of Tatooine.
Thank you very much for this massive overview. I am fairly sure that as you said not everything will be coming in one patch. Fingers crossed the meshing works flawlessly. We are waiting for such a long time for it already. Also thanks for the massive Sept. Giveaway. MjCrisis
As others have commented - we´ll see if all the features will actually be in the 4.0 release - or spread out across upcoming patchers. But we can wish... ;)
Lots of awesome ships coming into the game now. The Zeus MK II looks awesome. Can't wait to fly one. (Going to earn it in game though, so it will be a while). Still very excited for the Galaxy. I also have heard people mention the possibility of a Crusader starter ship. If that's true, I will be all about that.
im scared of engineering and the components braking. i hope they dont brake that fast so we dont have to repair them all the time. I also hope that we can buy the material like a amagazine for the tool to repair it
Group/Org gameplay is the future, being scared and hoping solves nothing rabbit, take a counsellor along for the ride, they can administer a drug to calm your delicate sensibilities
@@davewills148why do people always feel the need to be dicks and belittle other people, he expressed a legit concern, artificially decaying components will be annoying and having the ability to replace or repair them is going to be a huge factor in decision making in the game.
Appreciate the info, BG. The hopium is certainly high with 4.0, but I'm still flavoring it with some realistioc expectations. Half of what you showed will actually be in 4.0; that's the realistic expectation. Btw, what happened to the 3 sub-cap ships we were supposed to get this year? Not one has dropped and we're getting close to ethe end of 2024...?
Hey buddy! Did you talk to your CIG friends and tell them some of us cant go to our home hangars? It's a game killer, I'm on day 6 of unable to go to home hangar!
The engineering gameplay is both exciting and troubling at the same time. I look forward to it, but wonder how much time will be spent doing maintenance. This isn't a worry about flying huge ships solo, but even single player ships. If its reasonable then I think it'll be a cool addition to the game, I guess we wait and see.
I'm getting optimistic because it seems like it works, they just need to not crank the population up by too much until they can understand server health over a long period of time and not just a few hours.

They've already shown they can handle moving objects crossing fixed server boundaries, so moving server boundaries is just like moving stationary objects from the authority of one server to another. It's essentially the same thing, but orchestrated differently. Upshot: the movement of boundaries is directly built upon the previous work. There's no wasted effort.

as long as we can fly anything solo i findt it good why bacause why not
it would be amazing cool for screenshots and video,s flying the polaris irdris bmm rsi orion and more
Great review as always!
I appriciate your channel Havent been here in awhile, but its nice to be able to work and hear you talk about the summary for the new info. THanks!
What if you just get unlucky that very first time? Can't immediately shut down after any inconvenience.. high risk high reward for a reason.
@@TheFishRDrowning like irl you need to take that risk to make big money, you never know if the guys you hire wont stab you in the back.
I'm really looking forward to the new MFDs. They look significantly better than what we have now.
The increased player caps in the tests this week are looking really good. THe lines at the ASOP terminals could be a good incentive to live at planets and use your personal hangars.
or just live on a planet inside your ship, when the game work they wont just despawn.
I'm cautiously optimistic for 4.0. Haven't played much since IAE, two years ago, and there's so much to relearn.
Trying to get back into the game again. Looking g forward to the changes.
Looking forward to the bases, I hope you can just find them and there are no markers, gives that chance to explore and be worth it
we need to also IA Blades or systems that you can press and IA system will put out the fire or repair ship slowly
Knowing CIG the way I do, at this point in time I expect "at most" that 4.0 will come to the PTU around XMas and stay there for the holidays until they return to work next year. Much like 3.18 was if memory serves.
Could be, but it takes whatever it takes. We're getting there.
Yeah, also expecting a repeat of 3.18, but hopefully sans the "game is exploding and unplayable for several months" part after live release.
Then just don't play it over the holidays? It's an Alpha that you're meant to be testing, not treating like a full release that you're entitled to play at a polished state
@@scotttimbrell8632 Please leave your brain "on" while reading...
I really love the fact we can work with factions its reminding me of fallout/oblivion that kinda stuff,
Here's to hoping they hit those lofty goals
After the latests incidents its very hard for me to get hyped again...
I've been patiently waiting with my PS4, I won't be getting a PS5 it will be a new PC. I think it's almost time to join you all
Get a nice fast CPU and at least 32GB of quality memory. You can skimp on the video card...unless you insist on running at 4K.
@@mattp1337 I won't be skimping on anything, apart from cheap Motorola phones I haven't spent money on tech or holidays in years. I'm starting my research this weekend 👍
@@mattp1337
The new MFDs are so much easier to read than some ships current displays. I'm looking forward to this change.
Awesome, cant wait for new systems to explore
I’m excited for 4.0 and all the things it supposed to have. I can’t wait to get it in my hands.
Thank You very much for that compact overview of the 4.0 features!
MFD's and more fixes along with the Zeus I'm looking forward to most atm, oddly though a lot of those lesser Server Meshing dependent features could actually come earlier too depending on how ready they are and whether they have most their functions working before 4.0
I expect nothing more than Pyro access and Server Meshing in 4.0, anything else is a bonus.
@@echo5827 But they are only able to put Pyro in because of server meshing...
4.0 here we come!
Nice features summary of the next major patch. Thanks for taking the time.
New MFD tech is low key going to be a massive boon to performance. The current ones tank FPS, especially the ship status one.
Feels like they are getting close
It’s awesome to see Star Citizen finally becoming a full-on massively multiplayer game.
We'll see. We'll see. Hope it goes smooth
Thanks for the update Bored! It's hard to not feel skeptical but still hopeful for the future.
It is likely that something will drop out but i assume that many items were "stuck" until the 4.0 tech came out so it makes sense that it will be a big patch.
high hopes for server meshing, cant wait to see all the other new features as well!!!
Great stuff! Let's see if any of it works out of the box. Maybe the features will work, maybe not. Eventually, they will work after a fashion. Cool!
A lot to look forward to. Thanks 👍
Goes to show they have been working on so much!
I agree with an earlier poster, it's likely that these features will be split over 4.x patches. Still I'm looking forward to 4.0 itself hitting the servers in some form by years end.
What I'm really hoping for with Pyro and larger player counts on servers is to get some in-space refuelling action with the Starfarer :D
Wow, I am looking forward to 4.0! I hope it does come out before the end of 2024 too.
I hope CIG can pull more things forward, but the major points of 4.0 (Pyro, jump points and server meshing) are too integrated to separate.
This is going to be so cool. I imagine some features won't be available at launch, but will launch as they a stabilized (as stabilized as you get with this game).
Been upset that I’ve been away on holidays, heard great things about the latest server testing overnight
It's going to be strange having the verse populated with other players.
All of this sounds interesting and I do like that they are moving some stuff into the 3.24.x patch. Just skeptical on timing and how good this will be when released. We have seen lots promised and then stuff left off or removed when they release the patches
Crime stat is an aspect of reputation and you will be held to your reputation in Pyro even though Pyro doesn't have crime stats.
@@XxTavoRxX I believe the phrase was "blasted" but I may be wrong, so I'll allow it. lol
@@The_Opinion_of_Matt haha, I stand corrected 😜
Im glad to see they are pushing some things up to release early. Its a nice change of pace and hoping it means that 4.0 won't be pushed back any more.
Pyro Sounds like constant Chaos. Some people are going to love it.
I just started playing star citizen about 3 weeks ago and your videos have been so helpful
outpost missions seem neat! good early gameplay for starters I would think.
Excited for 4.0. But really wish they’d get some server stability. 3.23 has been one of the toughest patch cycles since *shudder* 3.18.
Now that you list out ALL the items in the update, CIG might want to roll those out gradually over the next months culminating with Pyro being added.
I love that they are moving features forward
If they were aiming for citizen con for 4.0 before then why not feed anything that’s ready in anyway to lighten the load
im scared of engineering and the components braking. i hope they dont brake that fast so we dont have to repair them all the time.
@@XxTavoRxX Tell me about it.........hate that
same as 3.0 plenty of ppl saying it cant be done now its 4.0 time
Appreciate the info, BG.
Have you put in a report? They need to see what, if anything, links the players that are still having issues
What I look forward tk rhe most is flying and exploring the space between the solar systems.
4.0................Been a loooooooooooonnnng time. cant wait any more!
U know what would be a great surprise? Updated QT. Maybe we could pre plan a wrap AROUND. A planet instead of into its atmosphere?
I'm getting optimistic because it seems like it works, they just need to not crank the population up by too much until they can understand server health over a long period of time and not just a few hours.
The UA-cam content coming out of Pyro will be insane. I would not be surprised if a bunch of new channels pop up...
That's a fair point, lots more potential content creators!
