Great Scott, that looks good! I was hoping for something a little larger (perhaps closer to '89 Batmobile, but I guess this is more in keeping with the scale - Ecto-1/Batmobile are much larger vehicles, so this will probably display nicely with them. This will definitely be a day 1 purchase!
For most shots they used BMW frames with delorean shells and they cut some in half for inside shots. For the famous scene where the delorean is revealed from doc's van, the car wouldn't start so they had to push it. For the famous clock scene at the beginning of the first movie, some of thr clocks did not work, and crew would be pushing the clock mechanisms from behind to make them appear like they are moving.
That's actually good to know about the thumb flaps. Can you do that with any sharp object if say you don't have the tool you use to open boxes? I do kinda wish we got different torso and leg pieces to represent the different films but that probably would've made the set a bit more expensive. I'm glad there's a way to change it if you want to build the 2nd or 3rd DeLorean. Great build video and I'm liking the great use of technic in this set. 👍
Most excellent review, a lot of great info Bricksie. I wanted this set when I heard about it. After watching your review I can’t wait to get this set even more. I also appreciate the info on opening the boxes with the thumb tabs. I’ve torn many a box doing that. Thanks for the tip
I'm getting ready to start bag #5. It's amazing how much engineering is is used in the wheel mechanism and it's a shame it all gets covered. The movie cars are fantastic. I have both the Aston Martin and Ecto-1 as well. They were equally enjoyable to build. Great video.
I need some help, on bag #3 where you build the duplicated mechanisms that interact with the little red bar on the bottom, the 2 mechanisms just wont connect to the main build
Thanks Jordan, you are my go 2 guy with lego ,I look at new sets ,im in Australia so im a bit behind, but when I look at new set I always look at the reviews you give above all others ,I only just been able to order the DeLorean, love the content ,hello to Mrs bricksie & 2 Bubba bricksies thank you
Will probably end up buying 3 sets and building all 3 to display side by side.... A little disappointed the BTTF2 version doesn't have a display stand included, but I'm sure there'll be MOC versions very soon lol
This set REALLY should've come with AT LEAST 10 different minifigs, unless they have plans for more BttF sets in the future. Just from Doc and Marty alone, I can think of 6 iconic clothing sets for each of them, and we haven't even touched on the supporting characters.
We already have BTTF1 Marty and Doc thanks to the original set and also the figures in Lego Dimensions but I agree, having bttf3 outfits would be awesome, even if it's just different clothes not separate minifigures
Any one know of a video or instructions to partly disassemble it to get to the flux capacitor to change the battery? Idk what to take off to make it simple. I have a hard time trying to reassemble it in chunks
Would the windshield that comes with the Lego DeLorean fit the Lego Lambo Countach based on the Lego Porsche 911? That would able the Countach to have a proper windshield.
I seem to have a problem with my model, whenever I use the lever on the bottom to switch it to flying mode the little rod pieces fall out and the wheels don’t switch back with the use of the lever, what did I do wrong?

Technically yeah you could just create the car and replace parts such as the flux capacitor with a regular grey block or something, the back and the inside would probably be where most of the changes would have to be made
