- www.headrushfx.com Focusing on the amplifier tones in the new Head Rush Gig Board. I had a BALL playing this thing! I'm here to tell ya, as a hardcore tube amp man, this REALLY had the FEEL of a spongy amplifier to me in the room. I'm a hard hitting picker, and I love the reaction of the amps...this did it. There are SO MANY other options, and tricks inside this AI freak of nature...but they are above my ability. I just wanted to showcase SOME of the amp sounds you can get, right out of the box. If I trusted my soundman, or better yet, had the same sound man at every gig, I'd have NO trouble using this live. The tones are there. The feel is there. They have succeeded. Ten thumbs up! Cool company, cool design, SUPER easy and fool proof to use with the touch screen and drag n drop style...this is Elroy Jetson's Marshall Stack. YEP!
The good folks at GUITAR EMPORIUM were kind enough to donate their space for the demo, and my pals at DOO WOP SHOP were more than generous to loan me a powered speaker to run this through. www.guitar-empo... www.doowop.com . LOVE LOVE LOVE !
Great no nonsense demo - this is exactly what I want to know about modelers - how good the amp modeling are - and this video is exactly that!
@QLYDE You just spoke my exact feeling about the HX Stomp as well! Apart from the Gigboard and HX Stomp, any other gear/makes fitting in this comparable category, size and price range that I should explore and compare?
I am essentially a 'preamp model fussy' guy and don't reaally care much about efx. My longest chain for the most 'processed' tone like a Mike Landau type clean would be comp/preamp/eq/chorus/delay/reverb into an amp, and that still falls into 6 blocks nicely. I would need a cab sim in the studio (but wouldn't need delay/reverb). I should consider this 😊 Though the Gigboard's 4 switches, touchscreen and more powerful processor in the same price range is a contender
Thank you for telling me about the TH-U and Helix Native. Will research about these! 😊
I just went ahead and got the big dog headrush pedal board. 35%, off retail can't beat that price new. And I got it new from Sam Ash.
@@auntjenifer7774 Congrats and welcome to lotsa happiness! Love my Headrush!
Thank god! A demo that isn’t all about showing off shredding skill. Thank you!
Best processor ever.
Oh lord if all demo's where like this! Tumbs up.
Thanks for just using the amp models. This sounds great. It has peaked my interest.
and now I'm buying one.
@@superbford No regrets here, lovin' my Gigboard. Picking response is great and the tone quality ahh! Easy to use, win!
I just ordered mine
So good. pragmatic BEST demo ever. Im sold finally. Thank you sir!
Best video I’ve seen. Too many have skipped the cleaner tones and just bitched about the metal tones. I love how you don’t sit there tweaking and ending up with the same shit sound that always comes out with that youtuber because it’s the ears that are fucked not the item being reviewed. Love the fact you leave it at unity and let us listen. Cheers.
I just ordered mine! Im so excited to use the interface
Did the same yesterday haha i'm excited for the interface aswell
So did you guys find them valuable enough to keep them ?
Sent it back after a week. It sounded shite. Didnt take external pedals well
Lmao
Don’t know but think this sounds better than the stomp hx so far
Agreed. I used the HX Shart and mehhhh
This is what I needed to see, thank you
Absolutely FIRST RATE demo. Cheers and THANK YOU.
Nice review, Gearmandude..
Thanks! I enjoy all your videos!
I have never been a fan of these type effects I like analog stomp boxes but I had to open my mind and go all the gear you ever wanted and couldn't afford is at your fingertips + I believe it's advanced significantly over early type modeling gear.
Yep, just picked one up from GC. Lovin' the tones, havent even began to delve into the settings much yet.
Yeah digital has come such a long way. It’ll never truly replace analog in my opinion, but it’s sooo much better than it’s ever been.
It's got the tones that's for sure !
Glad I got mine because it's got new pedals updated version every 9 months it's awesome to get new stuff, this thing pays for it sale after a couple good paying gigs.
One key ‘trick’ they’ve figured out is to use MUCH bigger power output/amp ratings on solid state gear to enable it to do the transient peaks that tubes do so tastily- for years, the lousy responses people got, the ‘tone isn’t there’ gripe, from solid state amps wasn’t the fault of the modeling & digital sounds, but was the output stages hitting a wall & going into harsh, ‘un-musical’ clipping…
(Had to add a 2nd Comment) I’ve been holding out against modelers out of pure ‘tube stubbornness’ for years, but I got a Gigboard and (2) FRFR108’s and… the damned rig just sounds AMAZING! On pretty much every sound I try!! (I use sparse/minimal f/x, so I’m talking about the pretty much straight up tube amp models here, just enough delay & reverb to give ‘em some air, and enough drive to put a bit of grit/hair on them when I dig in…)
I subscribed just because of this how the headrush react to single coil and humbucker and showing us that it is meant to be connected to normal speaker to get full sound.
THANK YOU! If it sounds like I’m yelling it’s because I am. FINALLY an actual demo. Sounds good to me. Down to headrush or hx stomp???
Great review! That is how it's done!
Thanks a lot buddy, the one that I was really looking for.
I was still listening! You sound kinda like Jack Black when you talk btw
Love your style, dude, you rock!
The best demo, really
best demo yet on the preamp n cabs
correct
Love the Dokken! LOL! Great vid man!
Jeremy Varao yo dude 😊😊
Great review A++
Jack Black reviewing the Headrush gigboard......awesome.....
Maybe I missed it here, but I've read that the M-2 Lead is modeled after a Mesa Mark IIC+. Is there a video showing that?
You play great.
I know I'm a couple of months late, but... putting a mic in front of a FRFR speaker, using a modelling amp, kind of negates the point of the microphone modelling. And not putting a mic in front of the tweeter as well kind of negates using a FRFR speaker in the first place. Love your work anyway dude-man :)
Exactly what I was just thinking. Makes more sense to go direct in for recording the tones or front of house live if you wanna keep the tone consistent.
I figured he was just going for a more "Amp in the room" demo effect.
I think it was for his personal benefit of feeling like he was in front of the cab
I think it’s the best way to demonstrate what the unit will sound like to a user who is playing through the speaker at home imo.
Good review Maine !
Hey, i think you shouldn't mic a power cab, just throw any of the line outs of the headrush to an interface
Thanks jack black!
These are the best sounds I have heard from this kind of device. A tad pricey for me but maybe it will come down a little bit once it's been out a while.
You can get the unit under $500 from Sam Ash now.

@@auntjenifer7774 I don't live in America.
Next time maybe use a Looper pedal. It'll just keep playing through as you change the dials. It will make your life easier
Great idea. Anyone know if you can have the board's looper running while twiddling knobs to get the right tone? I'm guessing not, but that could be v useful.
No, I did NOT notice the Guitar Emporium pick.....swear.
Брынькать можно и в Гитар риге. Перегруз есть нормальный или нет?
just needs a bit of iron behind it, an api 560 eq will do the job or into a neve 1073n standalone, a little 3k bite neve style
You have probably heard this before but you sound a lot like Christian Slater. Sometimes Jack Black.
I hear humming..maybe needs noise gate or shielded ? Sounds hallow ..not sure If it's the recording? Maybe because of the tweeter ..seems nice for acoustic or nice melodies
Eric, have you tried to gig with this guy or the daddy model?
what cab did u usze a headrush frfr /???
This unit, to my ears sounds better than the Helix, Axe FX, or Boss unit. Judging only by the video demos I’ve seen. Is that fair to say?
I will be biased and say kinda yes. IT is so easy to use as well. I have the Pedal Board.
How exactly do I find the amp models? Everyone demos, but doesn't show how to get into the amp section alone.
This or Helix Stomp? Amp model wise.
Same question
This
This is better yet big pedal board headrush, you won't regret it if your semi pro level to pro level.
Custard pie !!!
Yes, I did notice......love Led Zep!
Great!
Hi, i find that the Headrush Gigboard sounds great. Comparing to Boss GT100, thus which one has better quality sounds and more options. I need help as in my country we don't have a shop where you can try the products. I have to buy it online. Please.
I had the same decision to make. I decided on the headrush over the GT 100. Simple deciding factor was headrush has technology from 2018. Gt100 is a five-year-old platform. Headrush has killer sound, I have the Gigboard. Has the same in models and features internally as well as processing power as its bigger brother.
Same here. I mainly used my GT-100 for effects, 4-Cabled into my EVH 5150 III, but also used the amp models for practice into the studio PA. It did the job, but I just couldn't really get into the tones, or justify using it live. After years of lugging around a half stack, having separate rigs for Guitar, bass, and acoustic, I got a full-size Headrush Pedalboard (same great tones as the Gigboard, but with more control) and a HR FRFR112.
I have the GT-100 and just bought the Headrush. The Headrush is miles better to my ears!
How does it sound with decent headphones?
Awesome!
How does this compare to the HR full rack? Thanks JB!
Austin Wilson They say it has the same "soundchip" so they should be identical except for the obvious : less switches and knobs , no wah/ volume pedal pedal,
Christian Slater plays guitar???? Who knew??😉
Yep
Is price known already?
£600 UK
$699.00 on Reverb
$500 on Sam Ash.
Hi, I recently got one of these and was wondering if you can give me some tips on how to set the unit so I can get a kind of ZZ Top sound like on Gimme your lovín'.......at the moment I play a Les Paul loaded with a set of Throbak KZ 115 humbuckers....thanks for your kind answer....greetings from Lima;Peru...
Maybe you spend more money than time playing and learning ?

Jack Black from school of rock guy🤘
ALERT! ALERT ! This video DOES NOT have THE WHITE COILEY CABLE OF LOVE !! I'm SO unfriending this kid.
That's funny !
Funny Quentin😂
Thanks for the addition evidence that I don't need this unit.
😂 Why
When you're in the speaker section, what's the difference between Preset and Cab Type?
cab type is the cab selected. Cab Preset is the default options for that Preset / Cab ie: breakup, output boost, mic on/off axis, etc - so you can save a preset of a 4x12 20w with your favorite options to put it into your main presets without having to select the cab then set all the options each time. Hope that helps!
@@dnottis It does. Thank you!
this would be great loud as f**k.
it is great when you are in the room with it loud as f**k.
if want to use it with a power bank as power supply which one i could use with this ?
You'll have to look for a 19v powerbank with DC output
I think one with a current pass thru
Good review. I bought it recently. I regretted it. worst drive sound I've heard among processors. Drive sond has some scary tail "zzzziiiiiiiuuuuuuoooooooaaaaa" except two amps: Black Mini & Blue Line
That sounds like fault unit or bad settings ?
Led Zeppelin win
Why does everyone who demo’s this unit play “distorted” sounds??? Is this an amp/fx modeler or an overpriced “distortion” pedal??? I want some CLEAN sounds!!!
Stephen Larcovic didn’t watch the video and just copied and pasted from other vids?
someone didn't watch the video.
