I'll never get bored of reading people arguing about sound quality over a compressed youtube video :p
Yeah, especially when all they ever play on these demos is overdriven guff... sorry Chappers.
Like Tom Bukovac’s amazing Homeskoolin’ stuff… recorded live, in a cluttered garage for a while, often with a small solid state amp (a Boss Cube for a while) … into an iPhone!!!
Something I learned a long time ago with these type of units. It's all in the impulse responses. They can make or break these Borg boxes. With the right IR thru a FRFR and a preference for high gain, I've found the Headrush sounds absolutely stellar.
Absolutely right! The cabinets are ok but the IR's are fenomenal
Man speaks the truth! 💯
Guess I will have to wait when Danish pete does the demo.... Then maybe we will hear some decent clean tones... Rob = lots of distortion.
Summary of comments: It sounds great, no it doesn't, yes it does, no it doesn't... FWIW I think it sounds grrrreat, and reasonably priced at $650. The only problem is that one day, like the POD 2, this'll be available on eBay for $100. Does that matter? Only you and your wallet can decide. But some people will love this at the price point. I'm anxious to try it in person. I think it's a winner.
And as usual, Chappers and the Captain are awesome.
Yeah, I've never understood the resale value argument for guitar gear. I don't buy gear to make money on it. I buy it to play. I'm just some middle aged poseur who plays in his basement, but c'mon...
Modellers have been holding their value in the last 10 years.. more so than they should, in my opinion.
But why not rather buy the mini Helix? The HX Stomp is better...
wait and buy used when cheap
When I saw "portable" I was thinking of something different. Y'all should put together busking rigs. Folk, Rock and Blues.
This is a great idea. Please do this
You guys did a great job showing the Headrush. I appreciate you just going about it like a "normal" person would. I have to get one now. Thanks again.
I use my new gig board and expression pedal on my tube amps as an effects unit only and it is amazing the sound quality of the effects they’ve put in this unit. A group of my presets are basically just different pedalboards that I just switch between. I use it for recording too with its amps, IRs etc, but even just as a multi effects unit alone it is wonderful and best part is..it’s totally quiet, no hum, no buzz just pure effects.
Hey guys, I bought a Pedal and some Accessoires in your store today. What a great service and store, I was traveling around the UK and I thougt bevore I leave and go back to Germany I should visit Andertons. I was thrilled😀
Hey many presets can be created and saved on this device? Can I connect a wah pedal or a footswitch? Thanks..
My college professor was Shawn Lane's bassist & good friend, I got to play on one of the Charvels my teacher got to keep. Good ole Barry Bays, he turned me onto Shawn & MacAlpine during my "shred phase". I strive to be a better player when I hear those aliens touch a fretboard.
"It's a giant ship of tone" For the win, Rob.
if want to use it with a power bank as power supply which one i could use with this ?
Which exp pedal apart from the M Audio can be used with the gigboard?
Good demo, great playing and SWEET JESUS that Les Paul!
Guys, seems you've really enjoyed our Presets and IRs! :D
Funny, I noticed that as well. I bought a pack from you guys and the same presets were popping up while they played. Nice work!
Can we still get that presets and IRs ?
It sounds amazing
Along ZOOM, HeadRush is among the few that I could use to stack 2-3 Distortion sequentially, to mimick RAT Deucetone or Fender Pugilist ... well done Chaps at Andies' ! ! ! (* Usually 2 + noise gate = enough ! !)
8:08 Wow! That sounded *AWESOME* !
Trying to decide between this or the new Line 6 HX Stomp for my all in one gigboard.
Same here... I like the HX Stomp, and the Headrush Gigboard looks as nice... there are some MIDI issues on the GIgboard that I hope they will fix or improve shortly with a firmware upgrade; then i'll go with the Gigboard.
I know this is a stupid question but can you use this for recording as in straight into an interface?
Hey at 7:05, I absolutely love that Chorus, love that guitar jangle sound!!!
Didn't think you guys could top the Pantheon Overdrive video but, WOW!! Keep it up!
Good video y'all. It seems really cool
When does the Headrush Unlimited come out? Something that is truly competitive with the Helix. Or will there be a Helix Touch?
I am holing off a bit, waiting until they create the phone that will act as my pre amp and effect board. I need a new phone anyway. Is five years a long time between upgrades?
Having and external power supply helps reduce the size of the unit, keeps the cost down and possibly reduces interference.
What les Paul is that? Anyone know the specifics?
Nice playing Lee!
10:38
had me singing "Breaking the Chains!"
Love that flametop!
so... it sounds like the eleven rack?
or what does it means powered by eleven
Chappers is turning more and more into the guitar version of David Brent
yeah i think hes always been that way.....
But he sounds exactly like Stephen Merchant.
Free love on the freeway!
But the Volume goes to 11...
thats a nice guitar!
i want to buy a used les paul....(gibson)
is there any years you guys can recommend?
please comment your opinions i want to know more
btw im not super rich so a middle of the way pricepoint would be great!
Rob is looking at that pedal as if he feels very sorry for it 😅
right around the Metallica tone he looks at like oh gawd like you would look at something that smelled bad lol great video as always though
I think he's not interested because he just knows he'll never use it.
@@michaelangeloh.5383 I agree, Rob doesn't seem to be able to hide his opinion of a bad product especcially well. My impression is that he doesn't mind this at all.
Actually it doesn’t matter what Rob plays with. It never sound like music
Wow, this thing sounds good.
Very cool display, but I love my HX Effects 🤓
13:00 That reverb sounds KILLER. I would like to have heard a bit of noodling with it in mega mode like that.
Since there is a loop and amp switch ctl, I wish you would have demoed it in 4 cable method with only stomp box models too.
Does it have gapless switching?
Having used everything but Headrush so far-Headrush seems more intuitive to me.
what about splitting the output from the first pedal then feeding a ring modulator and the other part feeding a phasing pedal and then combine the two outputs to a reverb pedal and see what happens.
Powers of ten is a amazing album!
I liked it!
I actually like the power input : it's 19V and 3.42A : same as a laptop computers, which means that you can power it with any laptop power supply or even with an external laptop battery.
If it was 9v or 12v or even 18v you could power it with a powerbank and USB converter (never seen a 19v one) then could use it for busking or anywhere you want. 19V limits it for me.
Sorry for the many questions is the gigboard standalone, or do I need an amp? Can I use headphones for practice?
Yes
I was really, really surprised when Rob said he didn't know what an IR is lol. but then again, if I had access to the number of amazing amps and cabs he has, I probably wouldn't know either xD
Not sure if anyone knew this, but SoulPedal's got some tricks borrowed from Andertons Wah pedal mods etc... Thanks man! The opto-isolator, multiple feedback caps (mine are jumper configured), and shunting the coil for a tighter Q (also a jumper) - all from Andertons pages.
I'm with you Rob. Tony MacAlpine rules!
First of all...you guys rock!!! 🤟 Not a big fan of multifunctional pedals, but hey, your in the business to move merchandise. What I would like to see, is a video on the gangs favorite guitar accessories. Like, capos, cords (ones that give minimal noise from your instrument to your ampflication), tuners, stands, etc. Maybe a video on microphone techniques (for us armatures just getting into home recording or live shows). Maybe even a tutorial on setting up an amplifier (how to get the best sound from your amp). Watching some of these videos is getting repetitive. Time for some new ideas to help get younger musicians (and potential new customers) interested in music. Even videos on good, entry level equipment. Judt some suggestions.
I've had a Headrush Pedalboard and loved everything about it but the sound.
I tried it directly with and without custom IRs and also in the FX-Loop of my H&K Deluxe 40 and it never sounded nice or open. Distortion always sounded like digital clipping and in the FX-loop it even managed to make the real tube-head sound like shit just being in the chain without any FX turned on.
If they had chosen Positive Grids ampsim-engine it probably would have been the best product ever. Sadly they didn't... so I sold mine.
Positive Grid really needs to get in the market for a Multi-FX board. Maybe even powered for Cabs.
Is it beer proof? Can I throw up on it? These are the questions nobody will answer.
You *can* throw up on it, yes. Quite easily, I'd imagine, as I doubt it'll attempt to get out of the way..
Yeah the beer proof is a good question. Even if you don't drink because if you play in a bar some is going to spill their drink.
Hello from the future! No...
I wonder if you can see that screen in bright sunny outdoor summer gigs?
Sounds like a heavy metal anthology! I guess this is good for metalheads...
Lol literally 4 other UA-cam channels on my subscription list that also demoed this today
Can we use it for live performance, please?
Rob is me at work when someone is going over safety at work acts interested, but is so off in another World lol
I like the touch screen wow!
This works for me but I’m in a covers band that plays all sorts of venues where some nights you think I wish I had a 5w tweed and others I’d like a plexi and a 4x12. If you have your own tone that you depend on then this probably won’t do it for you but no multi fx would. I currently have Me-80. This might be on my list to replace it.
Are you plugged into a Headrush frfr108?
Ok I’m sold.
Great show guy looking forward the next show also looking forward to Rob coming to the states but I wish you both would do a US tour it would be epic or better yet open up a Anderson’s in the states
Which Les Paul is that? PLEASE give me the Andertons link if it's a stock item.
its probably a 1959 reissue
Andertons have some nice reissues but I especially like the tiger stripe figuring on this one. I can't seem to match it with one on their site. :O( This is the closest: www.andertons.co.uk/guitar-dept/electric-guitars/electric-guitars/gibson-custom-shop-blues-master-59-les-paul-standard-in-lemon-burst-w-59-neck-lpr59m2m12139982076
Marmaduke Winterbotham it’s Lees Les Paul - it’s a Custom Shop 58 reissue. You can get one like it from Andertons.
Looks like Lee's 58 Les Paul ... one of a kind ...
Andertons: Thanks. Do you mean the 'Bluesmasters'?
Boys, be reasonable. I was just eating lunch and have hard work, not to laugh my meal all over the screen :D
Almost was expecting Rob, to go away to cook pizza and play Diablo 2 :D
The sounds got better as the video went on. I think alot of people turned the video off early.
It’s the Fender Mustang tone app in a box.lol, Rob rocks if you like the metal thang and will make any unit sound er well like it is, nuff said.
So how do I control it if a pedestal/mic/foot falls on the touch-screen and cracks it into a thousand bits in the middle of a gig? XD
The same way you would if it happened to one of your individual pedals...
Heads up to The Cap for doing gosh dang homework. 👏
What song is Rob playing at 6:00?
Rob - You had me at Rock Bottom by UFO. 👍🏼
is this an avid product? i see the eleven logo is the same as the avid eleven rack.
0:21 --- The Captain's signature Rob-is-shredding face.
Someone needs to revisit the concept that TC attempted with the Nova System, where you have a multi effects pedal with analog drive section and digital effects.
They didn't quite get it right, but I think that is still the best strategy, because the drive/amp modeling section is where ALL of these digital modelers go wrong.
I think exactly the same way. I'm only watching this video because the gigboard has an effects loop to add external drives.
I'm well up for owning lots of pedals but really, this is about the cost of two Strymon pedals or a couple of Analogman gems. WOW!
Just saying...
Oh and that's not forgetting your costly amps and cabs too....
Honestly this thing would be amazing from a recording stand point because of its functionality. If you really dialed in your tones you would you would have thousands of different pedal board configurations all from the same unit. Would you gig with it? idk, seems you would really need to have your song tones programmed ahead of time because you cant just switch pedals on the fly like a traditional board.
What is that that Rob does at 29'15?
Headrush GigBoard vs MX-5 multi-effects pedal. Gigboard seems to be in short supply. Gigboard a big 7 inch screen with no expression pedal vs 4 inch screen and a built in expression pedal. You can add an external expression pedal to the Gigboard.
I think it sounds pretty good but so does the Zoom G3 that I already own.
I'm so glad to see rob and lee togheter again
Versus it with zoom g3n !!
Fun bit of kit, but all the tones sounded the same to me - digital technology is clever but lacks something pure and real. I would still love to have ago on one though. I expect the ambient pedal patches are ok. Good review.
We want a Q&A with Rob and Captain !!! :')
And Hi from the MBG crew in South Wales! Been waiting for a review since it was announced, well done Rob and Lee!
Hi! Anyone else watching from any exotic locations around the world!?
Hi from Estonia ! :)
From Iran
Hi from Yorkshire
Reading, in the Imperial County of Berkshire, in the realm of England
It has some interesting sounds although it doesn't sound like a real amp. On the other hand Rob playing is awsome.
LOVE the shoutouts for Tony MacAlpine and Shawn Lane!! ❤️🤘 big influences for me growing up. MacAlpines Maximum Security album is the best! And Shawn Lanes playing was amazing and incredibly fast.
Maximum Security is my favorite instrumental album. (RIsing Force aside due to the vocal tracks). Tony is also a phenomenal classical pianist. I said pianist, huh huh.
switching patches by only turning the nob and no confirming (push to enter)! that will make an interesting gig
do we have a expression pedal for the wah?
You can plug any to it
Holy hell that strap slip though..... oh man that could have been expensive ;)
I have a headrush gigboard and when it came in the post it didn't have a power lead with it. I sent headrush a message about my issue, it took them around a week to reply. It's been two weeks since that message and they still haven't been in touch to say the power lead has been sent out. If you have an issue don't rely on their after sales because it's none existant.
the recto + hesu + m160 is ola englunds rig
Is my memory betraying me, or does the bends at 19:39 sounds like Eugene Trick Bag ending?
Time to review the Headrush Looperboard - maybe use your Fender Acoustasonic Telecaster! 💥 Boom! 💥
The verb "to pimp" comes to mind.
2019 SGs pleaseee :)
YES
It's too expensive and should be priced closer to the Line6 HX FX if it wants a fair chance to compete in the current market. I was curious about this one, the touch screen is both good and bad. I know I'd prefer actual knobs for setting the knobs on the individual pedals more like the Helix, but prefer the screen for navigating the chain and any complicated nested menus. Last thing I want with touchscreen is for my pugs or kid to start messing with it in the study where I practice lol.
can I suggest you(s) use a different guitar for every video, I`d love to see Doozee`s in your vids, Epi`s (swigster in pearl white-might be a bit biased there!) "every guitar in Andertons Here" would be a refreshing change to `the big three`!
This is now about the 6th generation of digital modelling technology (20 years?) that has, after promising so much, ultimately disappointed me. I own 20+ guitars and play multiple genres of blues, rock, metal, with some soul and funk. I'm not that great a guitarist, but I am a competent player, and I know tone. I have owned an original POD, a POD XT Live, a Digitech Genesis, a POD HD 500X, GT-100, Helix, Peavey Revalver and finally this in search of the tones I can get from my Marshall, Fender and Boogie amps, in a small and flexible form factor. I have also used guitar rig 5, amplitube and positive grid bias on the PC. I've given up and sold this unit after a month. Yes, the interface is nice, yes it is flexible, yes it is easy to use. However the amp tones are simply not authentic. They suffer from the same problems as the Line6 and AxeFX. The note decay is artificial. The intermodulation distortion in complex chords (anything with 7ths, 9ths and 11ths) is fizzy and crude, and there is no motion to the harmonic structure. The breakup tones are too clipped and lack warmth. I have never heard a modelling processor or amp which feels "right" to play, and sounds anywhere like a real tube amp. Maybe it's the latency, maybe digital just cannot emulate the weird non linear behavior and response of tubes, output transformers and paper speaker cones? Digital is great for some things: reverb, delay, pitch shift etc. Analog is great for others: overdrive, distortion, compression, feel. A good analog transistor amp beats a digital modeller in my opinion and is way cheaper. I can get a better basic (i.e. no effects) tone from a 90s Peavey Bandit than I managed from any of the models in the Gigboard, and the JCM800 or Victory RD1 totally smokes it.
My favourite tv 😃
lolololololol @ 12:08 rob looks at it like poor you
What about a video where you review each others personal favorite guitars from your collections
I've been listening to Tony McAlpine since the maximum security album.
