First time I learned this, I wasn't even scared, I was worried. Then the more I knew about him, the deeper I searched, I reached to the point where I don't just like him as a character, I actually admire him. With dark version and all, I admire him a lot.

Sonic is a charismatic character that masks a lot of things with humor, grew up way too fast, doesn't show a lot of negative emotions, but isn't emotionless, and he does snap sometimes.
He is a flawed character, but not a bad one.
Reminds me of Dark Sonic from Sonic X.

We're so used to Sonic being such a "Hakuna-Matata" type of character,
that we forget just how scary he could be when he actually becomes angry.
You can't fight him. his attacks are too quick.

The personality snaps... I love it too much. The way he completely hides it from Tails and everything. Usually when you come down from being extremely angry you're pretty worn out, exhausted even. But he just snaps to cheerful for his little bro.

What I love about this comic is that it even went as far as to show how startled, frightened that Surge was. She sees Sonic as the one who'll never put anyone down, looking for the best in others. I also love that in comics like these, it really solidifies the bond Sonic & Tails have. It's not just a friendship but a bro bond.
Like, Sonic granting you a chance to change for the better... THAT all changes, the very moment you lay even a potential crippling blow on his lil' buddy. And this shows you that Sonic isn't being overprotective. But that he cares so much about Tails that he seemingly can't picture a day in itself without his little buddy.
He cares so much for Tails that he both can and will put them 6 feet under and then some if Tails so much has a concussion or a broken limb

A good lesson for Surge and other bad guys. Heroes may stand for good and justice, and want peace and happiness for all, but that doesn’t mean they’ll stand by and let you hurt innocents, especially those that are truly good as well.

That lesson is even more apparent when you realize that the moment you screwed up, they were holding back the entire time. And it’s scary when multiple times they give you chances to either turn a new leaf or leave and when you don’t, it’s scary when they stop asking and when each attack they make hits harder than last time. I honestly feel like the scariest heroes are the ones that always try to hold back, no matter if it’s for their sake of morality or for the villains sake, and then they just stop holding back because they didn’t when they hurt someone close to them or committed a horrible act that really gets on their nerves. That’s why sonic villains that have fought him before should know that when he stops cracking jokes and that he isn’t letting up with his attacks, they better hope that someone else comes to stop him, because it’s uncertain if he will stop even when they are already defeated. Shadow is known to be highly dangerous, Sonic however is unknown how dangerous he can be when he is pissed and no person alive has ever witnessed his full rage.

I like how when Tails got up, Sonic got that whole cheer as if he just got in a plane crash and woke up. That's literally how Sonic was, TOTALLY pretending that Surge didn't almost kill him.
More like he didnt just almost turn surge into a red splat across the floor and walls.

There's actually a fun fact, Sonic's true nature is actually darker and more brutal than Shadow's, Sonic as his morals in front of his actions at all times, he very rarely breaks them or drops them entirely, but for those that have watched Sonic X and saw Dark Sonic and then went to do a research on it, you'll find out that Dark Sonic isn't Sonic being corrupt or losing to rage, it's actually him just dropping every moral he as and letting his Survival instinct kick in while he still is fully awake and in control.
So when Sonic ripped apart those robots in a brutal way with no regard to having fun or anything, that was still Sonic, with makes him have this scary darker side to him and this comic shows it perfectly, because Sonic really is someone that cares for his family and if we can take the Sonic movies into account (Sense everything is canon), we could say he never had a family of his own (the comics and one of the many shows had Sonic have a family, but it never entirely worked), so Sonic gaining a family after being alone for so long and him having this unbound rage that makes him drop his good nature and let his real instinct kick into high drive is actually a very good character trait that does make Sonic more of an interesting character.
In fact something i'd like to see would be Sonic before he gained anyone to call family, what would he be like? A bit more Brutal and less good morals? Maybe he scared someone off and when he meet Tails he decided to be a better Hedgehog all around? These are little details on Sonic's character that i'd like to see explored a lot.

In this one, eggman made the mistake of possibly killing all of sonic's friends, and Eggman immediately knows he screwed up, and starts trying to explain to sonic why it was an accident
sonic just cuts him off, not giving the doctor any chance to explain himself and we see a full shot of sonic
fur totally black, and he's grinning ear to ear. Sonic the Hedgehog, is smiling at what he's about to do to eggman.
The only thing that snaps him out of it is Tails' voice, causing sonic to turn and see his lil' buddy reaching out to him, telling him that they're all okay. Tails has seen sonic act like this before, he understands who sonic really is, and he knows how to bring his best friend back from how he used to be.
Sonic's friends are his morals. Without either, we see just what he really is.

This is what I found interesting about dark Sonic. Very few know that side of him, and I like to headcanon he especially doesn’t want Tails to find out that side of him exists.
Canonically, its when he doesn't lose control, he absolutely understands what he's doing, and it is apparently when he turns to his survival instincts
This is when villains underestimate him, yes he may be chill and jolly most of the time but there have been instances where he’s been pushed too far and lost it I.e. that episode in Sonic X where he absorbed the negative energy from the fake emeralds and became Dark Super Sonic after seeing Chris knocked out. It’s quite scary to see how quickly his whole personality changed in that episode he became very aggressive and a little sadistic towards his enemies and it took Eggman of all people to snap him out of it.
Just imagine they made a sonic game where you could play as Dark and Super Dark Sonic

("Dark" forms include: Dark base Sonic, Dark Super Sonic and Darkspine Sonic from Sonic and The Secret Rings for the Nintendo Wii)

Not that this matters much but he was born on June 23rd, he’s a cancer which makes a lot of sense in this case. Cancers are known to “lose their shit” when a loved one is hurt.

Woo, Sonic is really showing both sides of the same coin. One side he's dangerously close from turning Surge into a leaked battery unit, and the other is the typical carefree & caring hedgehog we know and love.
That's something that not even Dark Gaia energy could make Sonic into. This is some deep malice you would find in Sonic X and some comics.

One of the things that actually makes me love sonic is how he manages to stay positive despite all the messed up stuff hes gone through in his short life.

I mean, some of the characters in Sonic Unleashed do get corrupted by Dark Gaia, but even though Sonic is tainted by Dark Gaia energy, he still remains the same person he's always been. @@unknownboi2447 The real question, is just what is she truly capable of. Like Shadow, she's 100% far more DURABLE than Sonic is, being enhanced with.... I'm not sure if its simply cybernetics, bio-engineering or what.. What will spell her defeat, is likely a combination of a lack of experience and her own ego. Shadow is not a "real" hedgehog. He's a biomechanical being with the blood of an alien species to fuel his powers and keep him from aging, if the basis of his creation didn't already do the same.
I honestly wonder how real SHE is in comparison, the same with Kitsunami(I love the name XD) since Starline stealing genetic samples like Tail's fur sets off so many damn theories.

I never really knew they considered each other brothers. The most I got from the shows us a little kid following around his hero, best friends, a team, teacher and student, an older kid watching over his little cousin at the family reunions, etc. I like this bond more. With tails canonicallly being way younger than Sonic, literally elementary age, and all the stuff they've been through. Makes sense seeing Tails like that would make him lose it. Even without their bond. Surge knocked out/ almost killed a little kid. I'd lose my shit too. And I don't really like kids.

From a 2019 IDW trading card: "He's almost always following Sonic on adventures and is practically his little brother." This has been stated in several of his game counterpart's bios as well (such as in the Sonic the Hedgehog Technical Files, but that document also describes Knuckles as "very clever and smart", so it doesn't seem like most of the current writers have ever read it).
Sonic calls Tails his little bro so often in The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog 😭 there’s a whole episode where Sonic tries to find Tails a family to stay with bc he’s worried about his safety (Robotnik and such) and it has the cutest mf ending scene. Basically he leaves Tails with who they think is Tails’ real, long lost mother and father, but it turns out to be a Robotnik scheme. After saving him, Sonic apologizes for not finding Tails a family, to which Tails says Sonic is his family. “I got a family- I got the best! You’re my mom, you’re my dad, and you’re my picket fence!” Sonic stops him, asking if Tails is gonna use the “L word.” Tails hesitates. Then Sonic picks Tails up, spins him around and goes “Then I will: I love you little bro!” Sonic gives Tails noogies, and this cute mf goes “It sure is great to be home!” And it ends off on him giggling as Sonic keeps noogie-ing him. 🙁😩😭😭😭💖💖💖 THEY HAVE MY WHOLE HEART AND SOULLL I LOVE THEIR BROTHER BOND IT GIVES ME LIFE (And fyi I typed that summary and those quotes from memory, so you know I’m not lying 💀)

She knew true fear as she saw her death was literary a second away that was avoided by Tails waking up.
She felt true terror for once in her life and it scar her.

Unlike Metal and Mecha Sonic (as they seem to be Surge's predecessors), Surge really has no idea how strong Sonic is.. in his base form. and only Eggman has ever really seen Sonic actually angry. Determined and ardent? Yes. Holy Hyper Sonic! Yes! But almost no one knows what he is like actually angry.
Fortunately, Sonic can run through his thought so fast, that as soon as the reason for his anger has passed, he just gets on with what is important.
Yeah he doesn't stew in his negative feelings (unless something rattled him in particular). Speed being his game, he's quick to shake things off.
Never fear the one that gloats about their power. Always fear the one that's been holding back.

This is so much more cool than just giving him a dark form. It really shows how freaking terrifying a speedster can be when they aren't looking to hold back. And really just shows how outclassed someone like surge is to sonic
Sonic being all serious is something you shouldn't mess around with.
I still love this idea of sonic being extremely protective over his friends and family, and as well If any of them were killed hed go Dark sonic mode. Those fake emeralds still effecting him since they were defective, still a lot of negative energy from those things. Even if he didn't, him going completely over his "good guy" role for no killing, its more just revenge. If you kill a friend of his he kills you sorta thing, its only fair he may say :) .
FYI Sonic has such good self control that the literal god of “bad moods” couldn’t affect him.
It’s not wise to test someone with that level of self control.

This is what I like about some characters.
There's a character that has them hold their purest and kindest trait, and an immediate switch from another where they make even the mightiest of God's quiver in their boots
Makes me realize that Sonic might have a hidden psychotic side that he prefers to keep under lock and key. Of course if you want to see him at his most unrestrained then go ahead and hurt his friends. It’ll be a fast death for sure

This version of Sonic would be HORRIFYING and we need it! Just a good boy till someone takes it to far and he gets all SERIOUS and COLD. Just to see this cold hearted sonic chase you down and you know there is no escape only to see your life flash before your eyes only for the blue blur to hit the switch and be all good boy scout like nothing happened. You know how terrifying that would be?! You won't know what will make him snap again, this would make Eggman wait for years before he tries something again.

The most peaceful of souls are some of the scariest when they snap. It takes a lot to break those kind of people and Sonic rarely gets downright angry or pissed, always resorting to resolving a conflict more peacefully but can definitely put a stop to it if need be. I could only imagine if someone actually killed someone he knew or cared for like family. If I pissed off someone like Sonic...

It’s both a relief and kind of hilarious when tails wakes up and sonic immediately goes from about to murder to being incredibly joyful that tails is okay.

Sonic has very few reasons to not be a cold-blooded killer, even by canon standards. What he's really trying to outrun is his own negative emotions.
