Honestly I’ve thought about that too! And there would have to be a distinct feature they would have from actual guides.
I mean the Red Lady already has a mask, who's to say another mutant couldn't also put one on?
Best if they're literally like an anglerfish.
The mutant is hunchbacked, with their actual head growing out of the front of their chest between their shoulders and has anglerfish features, lots of narrow fangs, enormous pallid eyes, etc. It also has a fleshy tendril protruding from its forehead, tipped with a fake head/mask giving the mutant as a whole a humanoid silhouette.

I've got an idea for a guide: Meet Boomer, the Badger Guide.
Boomer is a large, burly man wearing a mask representing a badger. Unlike the other guides, who have abilities allowing them to sneak around undetected, Boomer was granted enormous strength, and will actively attack any mutant that poses a threat to whoever he is guiding. He usually works with one of the other guides, providing a distraction and buying them time to escape, though there have been many times he's gone solo. Boomer is one of the few characters who will survive an encounter with a mutant.

Whisper is great, love her mask. One thing I would like to see more of is different colors. I understand the darkness but how about dark navy blue, a really deep purple you get the idea. Really love your work though, you inspire me. Can’t wait to get my crap kit from Jackie.

Whisper's mask is said to be made out of wood, which gives it its unique appearance, so does that mean Pumpkin Head's and Otto's masks are made out of ivory or bone or something?

@@AustinJASMR I wonder if the material of the mask depends on the way the person was turned, or their personality, or something similar.
Mutant idea, "false guides" it'd basically be a mimic that wears a mask like the guides but instead of helping people they would lead them towards mutants, not being a killer but rather a spy/traitor unless there is no mutant that they can go to, then they will kill whoever they're "helping", but this would be a rare occurence. And they masks would also give them an ability.
I think this would be a really cool idea

A guide that was chosen but wanted to use what they had gained from becoming a guide for there own gain and letting the entity throw all sense's out the door making them mutant mimic's that throw the face of there former self or guide's they have seen and use what they know of the guide to put people in false hope before (If not finding a mutant.) revealing what they truly are and dealing with them by there hand's?
I'd like to see a friendly spider. The mask situation would be a problem but what they would be nice. They would provide a place to rest/provide new clothes or repair clothes. Their web is safe and away from mutants, they let you rest with them and only let you leave when they know the surrounding area is safe. They have webs all over the place and can swiftly move from place to place easily. They would always be within 10 meters but tend to go unnoticed (People are always within 10 feet of spiders). Besides the mask ordeal for the spider, this doesn't sound too bad in my opinion.
Jumping spider faces are so cute! And it's not like the good characters aren't allowed to be creepy- mr Smile is really disturbing for example.
I just want to see some spider positivity damn it... Her name could be Arachne.

Character idea: the watcher
A lonely man who didn't leave his small apartment he would spend his days watching the streets and other buildings with his binoculars
Appearance: he would be a skinny man with one huge eyeball that he uses to observe homes and peaple from a distance before kidnapping them and devouring them
I don't have the best imagination so suggestions for improvements are welcome
No, no, that's a nice and simple concept. And there are canonically many more mutants than guides, so the possibilities are almost limitless.
I like her a lot. I'm not criticizing or complaining, I wish she was in more of an action pose; like running or a stalking posture. Just something to reflect her skills. But the mask and costume really works well together. I can see this as someone's Halloween costume.

The guides are extremely cool, I love how their masks and their stories behind them are unique and not super complex. Seeing these characters come to life and hearing their stories makes me want to see them in a game or even just moving around.

Sure I like cats and as a kid I always prefered female protagonists (as they were so rare back then)
But her back story stands out as well
I love her! I’m a cat fan, so she’s right up my ally. I love how you describe her characteristics based on cat behavior sounds exactly like a cat-stealth and quit and gone in the blink of an eye. That mask looks just like wood grain. Blessings!

I made my own guide OC!
her name is Eden and she has the mask of a harpy eagle (just mix a plague doctor mask with a harpy eagle head) and her power is that she can see up to 650 feet away which helps her spot mutants. She was from a wealthy family and got turned into a guide when she was 6 and stopped ageing from there, she has long black hair and wears a simple white dress and she carries an old black cat plushie and a carry candle with her at all times. she talks super quietly almost in a whisper (wink wink nudge nudge) and even though she is a guide, she's still a child and tries not to cry when facing a mutant.
I like to think that she sees the other guides as her family since her old family kinda neglected her, she sees Otto as a brother, Whisper as a big sister, and Pumpkin Head as a father (all be it a very quiet one)

I highly doubt he’ll see this, but what if he made another guide but instead of the small cat and rabbit guides, it’s this big burley bear guide. With large broad shoulders, large arms and slightly slouched. Thought I’d share the idea😊

I'm finding these characters and their designs absolutely fascinating. I would love to see them in action, either in an animation or their own computer adventure.
I'm kind of imagining a concept where you, as a game player, encounters all of these creatures, the good and bad guys, in a story, and you have a choice about how you interact with them - either benevolently or with aggression. And that in tern affects how they interact with you as the game progresses. Then on the final boss level, you meet The Entity, and whether you beat it or not, the final part of the game is you becoming either a Mutant or a Guide depending on your actions throughout the game...
My first cat's name was Whisper. Lots of good memories go along with this character and their name!

i have a mutant idea
the thin tree
hes a kid thats so thin you can see his bones and he normally hunts in forest and his eyes are white but he can still see and he doesnt talk or cant talk and hes a hunter he waits and the guides couldnt save anyone from him and his speed is really fast and he can climb trees with no problem and his name is thin tree bc when hes not in attack mode his skin turns to wood and he sleeps while holding on a tree but he becomes very fragile so its rare for him to do that and when he is in attack mode he can lift a house with 1 finger and he had kidnapped and killed many guides and he gives them to the entity or gives them to the other mutants and his teeth are sharp and his nails are also sharp and he also had been seen in a abandoned house nobody knows why hes attached to that abandoned house some people think its where he lived but the thin tree when he kills his victims he burys there corpses in a specific tree but if he cant find the specific tree he will eat them but he wont gain fat and he doesnt need to eat and he can jump from tree to tree in a blink of a eye and his clothes dont fit him so he wears clothes he made wich are made of flesh and other old clothes and his arms and legs are longer than a humans but his arms arent that long that there hanging on the floor no but he can shapeshift into a guide he killed and he had used that to kill many guides and he has a smile and he never stops smiling but he seems to have emotions and you can get away from him you just need to rip out one of your fingers and feed it to thin tree but it rarely happens so yeah thats the idea but also he has super vision that helps him get his prey and he has signs if he sees you if his eyes are white then he doesnt notice you if there yellow then he thinks your there and if there red he then knows your here and finds you but heres some more lore he was actually abandoned by tha mother and the other mutants the mother created seem to be on the thin tree side him and the farmer are the closes (i mean there all brothers) and also thin trees forest he habits is near the home of the farmer and the farmer gives thin tree the corpses of the victims he found but thin tree just plays with the corpses bc he was born kinda young

i'm really liking each guide's primary animal trait. i think it works really well given that this whole universe was inspired by a game like Little Nightmares. if this were also a game, i imagine you could choose when you want to bring a guide along to help you with the next section, and there's some strategy to which one you choose. for instance if you're struggling with a puzzle you might get otto to help you figure out what to do; if you're stuck on a chase sequence you'd get pumpkin head to buff your speed; and if it's a stealth sequence you'd get whisper to buff your stealth.
question for you, do you sketch your designs before you sculpt them? are you good at drawing as a sculptor? ik it's completely different ways of expressing creativity but i think if you drew these out i'd love to see them!
I'd be really interested in seeing you take on more diverse body types, I've noticed you often do very similar bodies for a lot of your characters, and would love to see more variety
