I have a slight obsession with wooden bowls and platters. Now that I have seen your video I won't have to ask my dad to clean up my purchases. Thank you so much for teaching this technique.
Hi Connie. My maiden name is Kerley too. My granddad’s father came from Scotland. Not many Kerley’s in the US. I was so surprised to see your name lol 😆
You have reminded me of my father when he wood make wooden items. He actually made a salad set, bowl and 6 individual bowls, for my mother about 1968 (?). I have really enjoyed your videos! God bless you and your family. Sherry from Alabama.
I know it sounds funny but I feel really happy for your salad bowl!😆 It must have loved all that attention. Like going to have a manicure when your nails are the pits and your skin is dry. Gorgeous result.
I love watching DIY's! I think if someone has done something before, then they probably have a tip or two to make the process go a bit easier. Thanks for sharing your tips!
Love the bowl. Thanks for giving us this knowledge. I have a bowl that a Vietnam veteran made me. He gave it to me in the 70s I will take your advice and clean it. I will give it New life. He is no longer with us. He was a friend of my brother. It means a lot to me.THANKS again. Love your hauls. 🥰❤️
You're welcome Patricia! I'm so excited that you are going to restore your special bowl....please let me know how it turns out! Thank you so much for watching, I'm so glad that you're enjoying my channel!😊💕
I picked up a vintage wooden salad bowl at GW earlier today in anticipation of this video. Now to make it look nearly as good as you did. Thanks for the inspiration!
I just had to tell you that I went to the thrift store today and found a lovely salad bowl with 4 smaller bowls. The smaller bowls did not match but that doesn't matter. I only paid 3 dollars for all of it! So excited to see how they turn out!
Good job. You are a very patient person person. It takes a lot of time and patience to restore items to their original luster.. but it seems as though you did it just fine. Bravo.
2-16-23 Hi Tiffany, it’s amazing how lovely the salad bowl and tongs look after your “ refreshing treatment “. You are my favorite “ thrifter”. I love watching your “ Let’s go thrifting “ videos.♥️
Thank you. Good restoration video. I just used the lemon, salt and olive oil to restore a ~ 110 year old large wooden mixing bowl. I did not use the sandpaper because I wanted to retain some of the patina. This is a family piece so I know the usage history. I remember my grandmother using this bowl in the 1950s and it was an old bowl at that time. Thank you. New subscriber.
I know it Robin.... wood is so forgiving, a piece in really rough shape can easily be brought back to beautiful with the steps I show in this video. I have a terrible weakness for beautiful wood and I can't resist rescuing every piece I find! Thank you so much for watching, I'm really glad you enjoyed it! 😊💕
I absolutely love the way this wood can be cleaned and conditioned. I really enjoyed watching your video on how to restore it. I learned something new that I can apply to my business. Thank you so much! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. 🌸⚘
Thank you Lynn! I'm just thrilled with how beautifully it cleaned up while still keeping its vintage look. Thank you so much for watching, I'm really glad you enjoyed it!😊💕
Thrifted two wooden bowls, one for decor and the other for summer salads. Thanks for your tutorial on bringing them back to beautiful! I love what you do!
This video was right on time. I just purchased a wooden salad set at an estate sale and didn’t know how to clean it without damaging it. Great info. Thank you. 🙏🏻💕😊
Hi Debra! I'm so excited that you are going to clean your new salad set....please let me know how it turns out! I always pick up vintage wooden bowls from thrift stores and sales, they can almost always be brought back to beautiful no matter how rough their condition. Its such a shame to think that so many get thrown away, I want to save them all! Thank you so much for watching, I'm really glad that you enjoyed the video!😊💕
Wonderful, Tiffany! I love your How-To videos. I cannot wait to see this next one with the silver 😁 Your voice is lovely to listen to and you keep your area so neat and uncluttered, it makes it easy to watch and retain the info. 👍🐈😁💗🌻🌟
Thank you just cleared out my mums house and we have 3 old fruit bowls my dad made 70 years ago so now I know what to do with them instead of donating them to charity .I will have a go .
Trace! 🤗Thank you so much for watching, I'm really glad you enjoyed it! I'm thrilled with how it turned out. I'm so excited that you're inspired to find an old bowl now! 😊💕
Hi Kim! Yes, you can wash wooden bowls just as you would any other serving bowl, but don't leave them soaking in water, and, obviously, don't put them in the dishwasher! I like to reapply the mineral oil about once a month to the pieces I use the most, or any time they start to lose their luster. Las Vegas is very hot and dry, so you may not need to reapply the oil so often if you are in a more humid climate. Thank you so much for watching! 😊💕
I have a handmade salad bowl set from a North Carolina artist studio that I found at a thrift store about 20 years ago. When I use soap and water on it I immediately dry every spot of water before displaying it in my China cabinet. Once my husband didn't get all the water off and there was a water ring on it. I used olive oil on the spot and it disappeared. I recently bought a carved wooden cat that in going to clean up to its former glory. Thanks for the video!
Learn something new today thanks I love shopping with you.I would buy lots of things that would sell my area. I love in Mobile Alabama. We have beautiful beaches and lots of southern charm Best of luck with ya'll shop
