can you do a video on nordic burial practices, the underground cities, and how it can be prepared to real world history. I've always been confused because they say that a lot of the ruins were cities, but there are no signs of "living" above or below them, except for labyrinthian's above ground expanse.
Perhaps the habitation areas were torn down for stones and other resources? Holdings of Jarl Gjalund lists Labyrinthian as a source of lumber and stone, which I interpreted as the ruin being used as a quarry. This is something that historically happened with ancient ruins - the Pyramids, Roman buildings and roads, etc.
The way the sun shines on them indicates that it's very close to them! The light given real life distances would would make phases parallel to each other, but in game crescent phases can be at angles to each other.
Actually thats not the sun shining on them. I believe that they produce their own light, and no light actually reflects off of them because they don't actually exist. They are simply optical illusions caused by our limited mortal brains trying to comprehend their infinite size. That's also why their gravity doesn't affect anything. They have no gravity because they don't exist.
The furstocks that would appear according to the ingame phases @ 11:35 are: - Senche - Senche-raht - Cathay - Cathay-raht - Suthay - Suthay-raht - Dagi - Dagi-raht Planned or coincidence? Don't think about it too hard 😂 Thanks for enjoying the video!
I honestly don't know of any other game that has in depth constellation and lunar mechanics like TES series, and the little details that go into this makes me appreciate game design more. Thanks for the video, and I'm looking forward to future uploads!

Thank you so much for going all the way to get an accurate answer. That fascination and willingness is what makes your channel great. Could you discuss what steps need to be taken to make games like Elder Scrolls and other open world fantasy games become more like free flowing, all systems interact and create unexpected, new events and outcomes, depending on the players and fully independent AI's choices, the ambition of open world fantasy games, but not yet realized, computing power and buget constraints, at least not yet anyway. Again thank you for your work and curiosity. I loved the video about determining real world influences on Tamriels cultures.
Glad to see you were able to make at least one more video. I love exploring the unappreciated estuaries of worldbuilding vast worlds. Can't wait to see more
I'll never forget the first time I've played skyrim (7 years ago) and saw the two moons at night most game only have one moon but when I saw that skyrim had two I was so puzzled and really felt like I was in a different world than me own, love this franchise to death
Bravo! Another excellent video. I’m so glad to see one of your videos in my feed again, they’re so well researched, just a blast to watch. Keep up the good work.
Man I love watching lore videos on games like Skyrim and the Elder Scrolls franchise in general. To me, it feels like we discovered a portal in real life that leads to this alternative universe and now we are studying this foreign world from afar, with the help of the games. It's a weird thought but it's what makes learning the lore of a game so magical to me.
regarding the moons, why doesn't Nirn have a tidal system? Like I understand from a gameplay design perspective that tides would be a lot for the engine to handle, but the lore implication is that the two moons have no effect on the the oceans are interesting.
I like how your avatar is a argonian because your voice reminds me of their voices in Skyrim and I mean this as the biggest compliment. Great video and I appreciate the shout out to eso and that it brings so much to the table.
The Elder Scrolls Legends is my favourite source for art. I have stolen those assets numerous times. It's also the best card game I've ever played, still salty with its death
I don't mean for this to sound too cliche or anything, but this is definitely one the best channels I've ever subscribed to. I found it when I came across the Bravil unemployment video when scrolling through random elder scroll content creators and I've got to say, each video has been pleasantly informative and enjoyable. You seem like a really cool dude and someone who's more than deserving of whatever profit and fame you can get from these vids and the work you do in the ES community. More people should be subbed to you. All the power to you.
speaking of the moons, can you do a video introducing the lunar colonies and the various methods by which some of the races have traveled there? hardly anyone brings up Reman's moth ships, which deeply saddens me.
On the one hand, this is all really cool and I honestly love it. On the other hand my worldbuilder brain feels like all this moon phase weirdness, excluding the save game loading weirdness, makes absolutely no sense in relation to how such a double moon system should work in terms of orbital characteristics. It's cool that, excluding that save game weirdness again, there's a clear pattern that repeats over time but it seems completely disconnected from the actual pattern you'd expect to see from two bodies orbiting a central object. I'm trying not to just veer off into info-dump mode and just completely bloat this comment into an entire essay but it's definitely nagging at me and it's hard to not think about. I suppose if anyone's interested I might go ahead and do that but, for now, I'll just end off here and save everyone else the time. Edit: Okay, so, I hadn't fully watched the last section of this video when I typed this so I'm happy to see the Lunar Lattice section not only covers the phases we should see from a lore perspective but also links to some resources of people who did the work figuring out orbits and such that'd accurately model the movement of the moons such that it makes some sense and fits lore. I probably should have waited for the video to end before writing but, tbh, the video was so close to being over I didn't expect to see anything like that come up. I appreciate it nonetheless though.
Doesn't secunda orbit masser? I swear its typically depicted as being closer to nirn (in front of masser) most times but certain charts have it after masser. And visualizing it as a solar system kind of goes against this line in cosmology regarding moon phases: "Mortals perceive this as the moons being spheres with patches of their 'surfaces' completely eaten away; as the moons spin, they seem to become slivers or ragged crescents. These are not caused by shadows, because you can see stars through the black patches of the lunar spheres."
I wonder if it's possible to edit the moon positions - would it be possible for a mod to fix the moons so that they follow the calendar as it begins from game start?
They still used some 9th Century technologies in TES V: Skyrim. But if Elder Scrolls Universe decided not to use the Era Calendar systems like 1st era, 2nd era, 3rd era, 4th era, etc. The year for TES V: Skyrim would probably set in the year 4650. This meant the Elder Scrolls Universe are already 2 Millennia, 26 centuries ahead from us. So I guess, we should time travel to the 1st era. Maybe 1E 2021? However, we don't know what happened in the 1E 2021 as after 1E 1427, it just skipped to 23rd Century in the year 1E 2200. Or the last year of 22nd Century in the 1st Era.
