While it doesn't necessarily carry the same level of popularity that other luxury sports coupes do, the Lexus RC is still a great-looking, quick coupe with plenty of comfort and refinement on tap. Forrest Jones test drives one, reviews its interior, and breaks down the engine choices in this video.

Having driven a 2020 RC 350 F-Sport for the past 10 months, and travel a good distance to work and back, the car is extremely comfortable, has plenty of power, especially in sport or sport + mode, and I get 31-32 miles per gallon on the fwy, consistently. It is meaningless that the competition accelerates 1 to 1.5 seconds faster to 0-60 given, that I rarely need that extra acceleration in most driving situations. Maybe if you track the car or live in a rural part of the country, and like to spend your money filling up the tank. This is not a sports car. If you want sports car type performance, then buy a sports car. This car will look good 10 years from now or longer. You can't go wrong. Or, maybe buy a competitor's vehicle and watch your spare cash and time go the way of the dodo bird.

Great review as always Forrest. I agree, the interior is still nice in my eyes. I purchased a used CPO RC350 F-Sport RWD for 31K. It is a very underrated car. Way more beautiful in person. Having owned 3 BMW's in the past, I do not miss the constant breakdowns and their cost. My RC has been totally reliable. I plan to keep it for a long time.

I have the 2018 rc350 rwd blackline f sport in atomic silver a rare version of an already rare car( most lexus's on the road are ES's or SUV's) love the car wouldn't replace it with any of the competition cars you mentioned sure some are a little faster but my car in manual mode paddle shifting is plenty fast for the street. Blackline editions are limited produced versions that Lexus comes out with time to time on their models.
They also have limited versions called by different names.
For example in 2019 they had a Tenth anniversary edition for Rcf and Gsf.
The cars were matte Grey with blue/black interiors and blue calipers.

I bought a 2017 RC350 FSPORT last November with 30K miles for 31.5k, white with red interior. I love it and everyone thinks its brand new. Its so smooth, has enough performance for me, the V6 is bulletproof and the Mark Levinson sound system is WOW! I wouldn't buy a new one, but finding a used one now in this used car market is wild. KBB site says I should ask for 38K as trade in value! But plan to keep it till it dies. And since I dont drive much (6500 miles in 8months) it might out live me. Great review btw.

Maybe because they haven't changed the look, is the reason people think it's new.
Before I purchased my Genesis G70, I test drove BMW and Mercedes first.
Even though I was in a new vehicle, they both felt old. Same reason as the Lexus . They haven't changed the exterior.
On the bright side, it will last forever!

    • @m1977v
      @m1977v 3 роки тому

@@genesisg7022 That is true about design inside and out. Other than the headlights and taillights, the exterior is pretty much unchanged. The interior is the same except for the screen, 2018 got a bigger screen. I looked at the G70, Merc C43 and Audi S4, but one of the main reasons I went with lexus was the unparalleled reliability. I felt I was taking a chance on reliability with the other brands since I was planning to keep it for a long while. But I would absolutely lease a G70 if I was in the market.

I’ve had both the turbo and the V6. a 2017 200t, a 2021 350 F Sport and now I have a 2023 350 F Sport. Both are quick enough for me. I’d argue the turbo was quick enough with slightly more fuel economy. They are what they are. Do I think it’s outdated? No. In fact, I don’t think I’d like a refresh. I’ve had three of them in six years because I like them just as they are. It’s a beautiful car. No need to fix if not broken.

      Hi Gib Gob!
I have had my RC 350 for almost 2 years now and each time I have to drive somewhere, I get so excited knowing that I am going to get behind the wheel of it😊. Most of my life I have bought budget and base model cars and was happy driving them as well. As a kid, I have always wanted to own a Mercedes Benz, and 2 yrs ago when my breast cancer had returned, I thought to myself “life is too short so now is the time to fulfill my dream of owning my dream car”. I test drove the Mercedes Coupe, then the Lexus RC, and the Lexus just drove smoother and quieter and it felt like it was quality built. The interior was more impressive(features, the caramel colored upholstery). I feel like a million bucks when I am driving it. I named my car Pearl, because the exterior color is eminent white pearl.
When I found my 2019 RC in March 2020, it had one owner before me and it had only 3,700 miles on the odometer. They were asking $42,000, and they only came down $1500 from the sticker price. I put down $7,000 with no trade in, and I ended up financing $37,000 when everything was said and done. Every month that I make a car payment, I am happy to make it(sounds crazy but true). Before I bought Pearl, my husband said “have you thought about looking at Audis, BMW’s, Volvos, Infinitis and Acuras”? and I said no, not interested in any of those manufactured cars.
I hope my response to your question will help you decide whether or not you buy an RC. Please keep me updated. Thanks. Happy Holidays and good luck to you.

again...if you have warranty and change your car out every 3 to 5 years.... go turbo...if you are keeping your car longer and don't want to do repairs...natural aspirated... this car has loads of power to get merging and light to light... I dont plan to head to the track with it...

I can give you three reasons without watching the vid:
    1. Your entire identity isn't wrapped up in having higher specs than your bros, and you've grown out of stoplight racing.
    2. There aren't that many in the wild, you will likely be the only owner in your immediate area
    3. It performs great and will still perform great 10 years from now with only regular maintenance
Also, shout-out to Forrest, he's not only repping Texas out in Cali, but funky town as well!😊 (He knows what I mean)

That’s a beautiful car! You should take it for a ride and get a haircut. That would be the best course of action! 🥳👍

A misaimed car. Slow (a 12 yr old accord or Altima 6mt will take it), heavy, soft.... I was looking forward to it as my next coupe until it actually came out. If you're just going to have a cruiser, might as well get a 4 door. I suppose this is good for people who only want to look sporty - but that was more of a 90's market niche.

Why there isn't a turbo on this i'll never know. What a massive L. Adding a turbo to this could justify the price point if it cranked out about 380hp. No reason to buy this when the M440i exists for the same price

It's conservative engineering in a high end personal car. If you want something different, get something different.

When I spend 65 K on a car, I expect to see some pleasing colors on the inside. This car has no colors on the interior and it screams cheapness. Common Toyota, you can do better.

I've been to collage....and no collage kids could afford this....until 50 and all the student loans etc...house... kids leave home etc... ... I had a muscle car in collage..they were a lot cheaper back then... got me a lot of tickets... if you are making a big wage then mustang gt. challenger... Camaro... hang onto your hat and hope you live until you get this one... this is an old retired dude's car that like looks... some power but not obnoxious... a great Smooth ride... and you aren't stuck and have to push it out of a snow bank any more..
