if youre not carrying more than 1 extra person in your car on the regular, I have no idea who would go with the IS. RC looks way cooler, more exotic, more rare, more aggressive.
The RC weighs 300lbs more than the IS with the same specs….you get a heavier car with less functionality. Pick the RC if you think having a coupe makes you cool, pick the IS if you actually want the better vehicle.
Just found your channel and this comparison.....I'm aging (almost 60) and looking at a coupe to compliment my 2019 AWD Stinger GT2 and wife's Palisade Calligraphy AWD . I've looked at EVERYTHING from Corvettes , LC500, BMW M850I/M440I, CLE COUPE, AUDI S5/RS5 ......you name it and if it has 2drs and looks stylish whilst being reasonably affordable.... At the beginning, I was enamored with performance numbers .....but don't want to give up creature comforts. .... You stated something at the beginning of this video, that the RC compares more favorably with an E coupe ! Certainly not the fastest but reliability, looks and comfort are the strongsuit. These are highpoints in my recalculated mindset and believe it or not , I've loved the franken-design since the inception of this beauty. ......now to find exactly my specs!
I chose the RC over the IS for my own reasons: I don’t have a family, so a two-door is ideal. RC just looks so much more aggressive. IS is a lot more common in the road versus a RC. I wanted a RC. Don’t get me wrong, the IS is an amazing car too. Choose what works best for you - both will make you happy.
I personally think the IS looks much more better, aggressive and refined in the front end where as the RC is more rounded and features squished in and gives it an older lexus looking design. I do agree 100% the RC does look more exotic and there is less of them on the road. They made the right changes for the IS from 16 onto the 17-20. The headlights are shaped better and the check mark DRL is so nice. At the end of the day, IS is more practical but RC makes you look exclusive and most people who have a second car like an SUV would definitely choose the RC. RC also has better cup holders, IS really dropped the ball on theirs.
I had a 2016 Is350 awd and now have a 2018 Rc350 rwd, and I liked my Is350 alot, enjoyed driving it but my Rc350 hands down is more enjoyable, looks better and has options that were not available on the Is350 like for example Orange brembo calipers.
Mate! Congratulations on your new car that's epic! Feel free to send me some photos on instagram... @sergcarreviews :) Thanks so much for watching and see you on the next one :)!!
@_kashytwin_5275 I prefer my 2018 style over the newer style 2019 and newer. The triple beam headlamps, the bigger rear bumper grills, the in dash nav screen. Hate the new nav screen just sitting on top the dash and yes much more aggressive looking in the front and rear.
Good review. Another interesting anecdote, the base RC chassis actually is 50% more rigid than the IS due to the middle IS-C convertible section. Why Lexus created a separate chassis was because it was co-developed with the 472 HP RCF so it formed the basis for the RCF, which in turn makes it even stiffer with additional bracings front, middle and over the rear axle.
There you go! I always thought it was half IS and half GS from what I was told! And you definitely feel the difference that's for sure! Thanks so much for watching 😊 If you want more content feel free to get in touch on fb or insta - @sergcarreviews 😄
@@SergCarReviews Yeah, there were a lot of false myths spread in the media without properly understanding what it meant. All that was, Lexus wanted to build a much more stiffer chassis for the base coupe (as RCF was designed at the same time as the RC rather than an afterthought) than what was available in the GS/IS so for the base RC, they designed the unibody from the rear of the 3IS for the short overhang, the middle of the IS-C since that was a convertible had a very rigid core (the IS-C floor pan is about twice as thick as the IS) and the front section was from the GS for the long hood and wide track. There were further reinforcements added giving the base RC a 50% stiffer chassis than the GS (and 3IS as it is just a shortened version of the GS chassis). The RCF chassis was further reinforced and has all of its own suspension components.
Got an 2011 is250 , and i love it, feels fast (ik its only 200hp) ,sounds good, comfortable, and drives well, cant wait to upgrade to the rc or is350 later 🤧
Since the rear seats in the IS are barely useable for people 6 feet and over, I'd go for the RC350 and leave no question about who's car to take when there's 4 people😂
As somone who owns the new is350 as a daily, it's great. Exhaust is lacking, but I'm fixing that. Engine note, not a fake ASC pump sounds so damn great. Intake whine is sweet above 4k rpm.
Hey Seth,I found your channel recently and I'm loving your comparison videos. Two great cars! It's just down to personal preference and needs. I'd buy any of them that would be available in my country. Shout out from Brazil. 🇧🇷
I have an RC 350 F Sport & love it everything about it. Probably the best car I’ve ever owned outside of my NA Miata. But I really came here to say you are the most attractive car reviewer on UA-cam 😄
Disagree about cruise control location. When you use it a lot and drive with one hand at 5 O’clock it’s in the perfect location. I initially thought it was weird from previous cars but it’s brilliantly thought out
Hey mate I totally agree with you! The location of it is perfect. The qualm is that for an updated model it could’ve been updated to the new Lexus steering wheel - where the cruise control is on the steering wheel and gives it a much cleaner look (such as the ES steering wheel). As far as the general location of it though it is very convenient. Anyways thanks so much for watching and appreciate you taking the time to comment! I’ve uploaded a new video of the IS350, if you have time let me know what you think 😄!
Hey! Thank you so much for watching! In USA you can get the IS500 with the V8, that's the only one more expensive than these two! Thanks again for watching 😊!
My brother, but now I am confused between the LEXUS IS350 2022 and the BMW G20 330i, and I am afraid because these cars are from Mercedes. They say that they do not last for more than 6 years, and I have kept the car for more than 5 years. They say that it has problems and such, but you as a user, what do you say, which one is better, Lexus? Or BMW V 1- Driving 2- Reliability 3- The comfort of the car on long roads and how well it can withstand pressure. Because I am confused about both and I am afraid about reliability and driving pleasure. Explain to me and I am sorry for the inconvenience.Could you please answer the question of car reliability? I drive fast and driving is the most important thing to me. reliability. Will the car be able to withstand his 170,000 miles on his Voc? Will it be as reliable as, say, a Lexus? I like it so much that I'm concerned about its reliability and high price . So what do you think? Is it reliable? Which one is better? In all respects, especially when it comes to reliability and driving feel, there is a LEXUS IS and a BMW G20 and how do they differ? I'm sorry for the inconvenience. thank you.
Hi Mohamed! Thank you so much for watching! As far as reliability goes Lexus's have always had the best rating for reliability! I would say around corners the BMW is great and very sporty, more sportier than the Lexus. If you plan to keep the car for over 170k miles it would be a good idea to take reliability and maintenance costs into factor which is something that you need to see where you live. I hope that helps! Thank you so much for watching 😄😄😄!!
Both cars are nice but looks are subjective & I love the looks of the RC more. A 2 door looks more sporty than a 4 door & the RC just looks more sporty sitting still
Hey Chandler, thanks so much for watching! As far as I know they weren't but might be for different countries? I'm not too sure. Are you looking at getting one?
This gen of the is350 is 2014-2020 and the RC was made from 2015-current, I believe it had a facelift in 2020 with an added 4 horsepower in F sport and updated styling and a larger/updated head unit

Hey mate! Thank you so much for watching!! And compared to a lot of other V6s the Lexus feels unresponsive but I feel that's the diff they use. Also they are very hard revving engines and it really kicks in at 4000rpms! If you ever get a chance to drive it again, have it in manual and really rev it out! Anyways thanks again for watching 😄
