This was a great update from Lexus. They kept similar lines while making it look way better! Interior with a touch screen was a needed addition as well
So Ik Lexus gets lotta hate in general, but I own a 2021 IS and I’m pretty satisfied. It’s certainly not for everyone, but the aesthetic design is pure art when contrasted with other rivals within the price bracket, Lexus financial systems are heavily assessable to internationals such as myself in Canada and mechanical build quality needs no introduction. Additionally, the fit and finishes are exceptional (given the bracket it’s in) and the sport seats are some of the best in the business. Performance on the objective metrics is a sore spot and fuel economy isn’t the best when compared to turbo 4’s but tbh very very few people buy an entry level everyday luxury sedan for performance driving on track in mind. There’s a great sense of occasion and everyday driving experience here for those willing to sacrifice some fun factor for aesthetics, build quality, seats, reliability and sound (sounds better than any turbo 4 on market especially if aftermarket exhaust it, you’d be surprised).
You’re not buying a 350 to track it sorry half your argument just doesn’t apply. It’s a fantastic car for everyday driving and that why people buy them.
Totally agree! If you were buying a track car you'd be going for the v8 anyway. Also mate if you like Lexus reviews, I have plenty and a few with the IS350 😄 Feel free to check it out 😊

If an overzealous mechanic overtightens and damages your lug bolts, you'll likely need your whole hub replaced instead of a $8 stud.

Love this car so much especially the exterior! But they need to redesign the interior in this and maybe give the engine a little more HP and Torque. All I'm asking is to change the interior and I'd still be happy with the current engine.
I just purchased a 2021 IS 350 F Sport RWD about a week ago, and the interior has some nice upgrades. Sure, in a thumbnail it looks similar, but the new screen in this car is amazing. Very crisp with good contrast/black levels. And the new center console is a lot more expensive-feeling than the one I had in my 2016 IS 300, with larger pads along the sides. I guess they could have done more with it, but for a refresh, I think it's awesome.
Think if Lexus brought back a decent straight 6 cyl instead of the v6 for the 350, and gave it a turbo or something. Would be in the ballpark of ~400hp and would be an amazing competitor to everything else at this pricepoint. The vehicle is very well designed and looks amazing, and honestly the 3.5l v6 is a great engine but all the competition makes more power...
Lexus really doesn't like to use turbos as they see it as a part that creates more heat, uses more oil, and is something else that needs repair/replacement. I believe thats why they made the naturally asperated is500 with the V8 🎉
Awesome car, much better than what these guys are saying. For sure not perfect but deserves wayyy more respect than it's getting from this review. Great job Lexus
As an owner of a this-gen IS 350, I thought they were pretty fair. Even withe RWD with the 8 speed, the transmission isn't great and it too often opts to show me the Lexus software instead of carplay That said, I absolutely love the interior and how it has buttons. And the touchpad is actually useful sometimes. But I also came from 2013 GTI, not another up market brand.
I'll be honest, Lexus has lost its appeal and I stopped buying their cars back in 2016 when I traded my RC-F for a new M4... they are not keeping up with the competition and they're still expensive for what you get.
@@omgitsme435 definitely agree the infotainment is dogshit, German brands are ahead of Lexus in everything except possibly reliability which is also very controversial as you can find a lot of German car owners who say there car lasted a very long time and some meh
@s l I hear you. My comment was a generalization. Not all BMW models are headaches, and not all Volkswagens are Toyota-like in reliability. Trust me. My GTI constantly had issues before it got totaled. We replaced it with an Audi though and couldn't be happier. It's been just as reliable as our Lexus and we drive the shit out of both of them.
Lexus’ version of a full redesign: *Gives it an exterior facelift and a new infotainment screen* Don’t get me wrong I like Lexus, but this car is just so outdated from the interior, to the engine, to the transmission, etc. Time they actually step and and start making proper cars.
There was suppose to be an all new car, new chassis, dash design etc but the development was delayed on Mazdas side, which the new IS is suppose to be based on, so it’ll be another 3-4 years for it
@@jponz85 ..Because by that logic, cars would never evolve. We wouldn’t have seatbelts, air bags, reverse cameras, crumple zones, etc. This thing is just being completely left in the dust by it’s competition despite its recent “redesign”, and that’s showing significantly in its sales numbers, which are declining rapidly.
Hey guys, just a heads up that if you want to bang off the rev limiter with the IS you have to hold the traction control button down to shut it off and that shuts off the auto shift when you're in shift mode. Awesome channel by the way!!
Just returned my 2016 Lexus IS 350 F sport off lease and won't look back. At the exact same price, I'm getting the Genesis G70. Identical footprint (255 rear, 225 front, same wheelbase) but way, way more fun to drive. LSD, 365hp, Pilot Sport 4s, rear-wheel bias allowing tail-happy turns...You guys agree?
I would agree too...who the hell wants to lease the same car for another 3-4 years. Leasing is part of the luxury car business, 20+ year ownerships are becoming rare for this segment.
@@wyw201 The next REAL new IS will be shared platform with next gen Mazda 6 (like BRZ/86 twin). It will be a brand new RWD platform with a BRAND NEW INLINE 6 engine!! This is the Lexus/Mazda people should be hyped about.

My 'affordable` dream car. Naturally aspirated V6. Good interior. Amazing reliability. I think 99% of drivers don`t need more for the street and everyday driving.
This car is good until you consider the price, it’s essentially the same car from 2014 other than the screen which is still really slow laggy and outdated to literally every other car. The Kia stinger is literally better than this in every way and the new model is coming this year
You can’t really compare kia’s quality vs lexus, plus I’ve been in one and the infotainment system is fine. Considering this is a refresh and not an update I honestly think the price point is fine, the real update will probably come in 3 or 4 years
@@57Nights the stinger has way more power is a sport back therefore more practical, it’s much bigger, has far more features and luxury, has more quality material such as Nappa leather and on top of all that it costs 8k less CAD
@@adilsagadiyev5090 Youre comparing a mid size car to a compact sports sedan so of course the stinger will be bigger, that being said the IS has more than enough usable space. The difference in power between them is 50hp which is honestly not noticeable at all for everyday driving. Literally who cares about the difference in leather, if I put them both in front of you I doubt you would notice the difference. While I agree with you on paper the stinger is a much better car, features and luxury are all subjective. I dont care about having the latest infotainment system or best rear view camera, I care about having a fun ride that I know will last a while. Lexus cars are known for their reliability and longevity, thats why youre paying the extra 8k. My 12 year old IS drives like its new and has no creaks or rattles, I cant say the same about any kia's Ive driven.
@@57Nights your saying you’d not care about all the extra features and luxury the stinger gets you over the Lexus. Th problem with that is why not get it if it’s even cheaper? More over, if you like the reliability then why not just get a Toyota? It’s super reliable just like Lexus and is far cheaper and doesn’t have all that extra features and luxury like you said you didn’t want
@@adilsagadiyev5090 No youre misunderstanding what Im saying, I care about luxury, reliability, and a good quality ride which is why I bought a lexus. Toyota only has 1 of the 3 things I care about which is why I dont have one. My point was that the IS is a more luxurious car that will hold up better in the long run versus the stinger, even though the stinger has more features. Features does not mean luxury.
@@Toyota4Life Sure they do. This one does. Every review of this car has been mediocre. I don’t blame Lexus. Consumer interest in sports sedans from Lexus isn’t that high so they put there money in suv/cuv. The European have no problem selling fast sedans so they invest money in developmental cost. Looks dont determine anything. This is a very good sporty sedan that’s it. SPORTY SEDAN
The Best IS yet... I love this new look and I think Lexus has succeeded in making the best Compact Luxury Sport Sedan... Spiritual successor of E46s....

Is it just me or is the transmission slow to shift when in manual? I hear it “click” the paddle shifter and then second later you hear the tone of engine change as transmission goes into next gear. Nice 2006 power train review encompassed by new tech and sheet metal for 2021! Great review nonetheless fellow Canadians! 👍
I had a 2016 IS 300 AWD F Sport, and I have to say, the paddle shift response was a bit laggy at times. Sport or Normal, it didn't make a difference. The 8-speed in the 350 is a bit quicker but still not near-instant like a VW DSG or especially not a ZF 8-speed. I think it's fine to just throw it into Sport/Sport+ mode and let the car shift - it automatically downshifts on hard braking.

Get a second Android phone and give it back to us!
I wonder why he replaced his with an iPhone
Jakub is definitley a Lexus boyyy AYEEEEEEEE
IS350 F Sport is the younger sibling who got all buff and cool when they grew up
That would be the IS F If they make a new one next year
It’s the teenager. The IS F is the 24 year old.
Corvette Z06 is the 30 year old
The Stinger is no where better looking than the IS 😂😂😂
Awesome car, much better than what these guys are saying. For sure not perfect but deserves wayyy more respect than it's getting from this review. Great job Lexus
As an owner of a this-gen IS 350, I thought they were pretty fair. Even withe RWD with the 8 speed, the transmission isn't great and it too often opts to show me the Lexus software instead of carplay
That said, I absolutely love the interior and how it has buttons. And the touchpad is actually useful sometimes. But I also came from 2013 GTI, not another up market brand.
95% people don’t care about going to a track. Perfect IS
Right! If they wanna go to the track, they should buy a zl1 or a gt500 or m3/4…. This is not a track car. This is a perfect daily driver.
This is hands down the best looking in the competition. It's a shame they don't make the Coupe Version :(
The RC 350?
That rear taillight light bar is so sexy! Love how they added that.
Hey Dylan, if you like Lexus reviews I've made a few of them including the IS. If you're interested to watch let me know what you think :)
straightpipes im back to say hello.
go play your block game stinky
They don’t care
@@zykarionng6633 eh, what’s wrong with respecting other communities?
Love cars with rear light bars. Hope they never go out of fashion. 🤗
I'll be honest, Lexus has lost its appeal and I stopped buying their cars back in 2016 when I traded my RC-F for a new M4... they are not keeping up with the competition and they're still expensive for what you get.
They have probably the worst infotainment in the entire industry.
@@omgitsme435 definitely agree the infotainment is dogshit, German brands are ahead of Lexus in everything except possibly reliability which is also very controversial as you can find a lot of German car owners who say there car lasted a very long time and some meh
Their sales say the exact opposite. Clearly they are doing something right.
@@omarmahmood5011 Audi and Mercedes are a lot more reliable than they used to be. BMW still has dogshit reliability.
It took a while but they finally made their giant spiky grille design language look good.
I can tell this was filmed a while ago cause of the shit ton of snow rn
soooo many better ways to spend 60k$, and im a proud owner of a gorgeous LS430 :)
Same
Could get a used GS F for under 60k
What year?
Agreed. Unfortunately our society only cares about the monthly payment amount 🤷🏼♂️
U can literally get a zl1 or a z06 for that price
My father has a rare red 2007 Lexus IS250. It was the first car he ever brought and still owns it to this day and I feel like he will never sell it
I found an 07 is250 with 40k miles on it a few years back. Just turning over 70k on it now. Solid car.
Lexus’ version of a full redesign: *Gives it an exterior facelift and a new infotainment screen*
Don’t get me wrong I like Lexus, but this car is just so outdated from the interior, to the engine, to the transmission, etc. Time they actually step and and start making proper cars.
Why fix something that's not broken?
@@kristians2704 that’s actually true
There was suppose to be an all new car, new chassis, dash design etc but the development was delayed on Mazdas side, which the new IS is suppose to be based on, so it’ll be another 3-4 years for it
@@jponz85 ..Because by that logic, cars would never evolve. We wouldn’t have seatbelts, air bags, reverse cameras, crumple zones, etc. This thing is just being completely left in the dust by it’s competition despite its recent “redesign”, and that’s showing significantly in its sales numbers, which are declining rapidly.
@@mattX5 that's a horrible analogy wtf
I’ve never been happier to be so early on a UA-cam video
Hey guys, just a heads up that if you want to bang off the rev limiter with the IS you have to hold the traction control button down to shut it off and that shuts off the auto shift when you're in shift mode. Awesome channel by the way!!
Seems like this car is on par with 4-cylinder turbos: 330i, C300, A4, etc. No way I'd take this over a C43, M340i or S4.
Or G70 3.3t and Q50 Red Sport
I agree but this is priced more around a c300, a4 etc..
@@joshlovepopcorn Alfa Giulia in this range too.
I prefer the characteristics of an NA V6 over a turbo 4 but Lexus needs a Turbo 6 to compete with the German 6 cylinders.
@@little123456788 I 100% agree with you on that one
Just returned my 2016 Lexus IS 350 F sport off lease and won't look back. At the exact same price, I'm getting the Genesis G70. Identical footprint (255 rear, 225 front, same wheelbase) but way, way more fun to drive. LSD, 365hp, Pilot Sport 4s, rear-wheel bias allowing tail-happy turns...You guys agree?
Yes we said that at the end of the video
I would agree too...who the hell wants to lease the same car for another 3-4 years. Leasing is part of the luxury car business, 20+ year ownerships are becoming rare for this segment.
@@TheStraightPipes yes, thanks...with the Stinger, so that means G70 as well? (Drift mode when in sport and traction off)?
Stayed for the Stinger GTS content.
This car is basically a RWD Camry... It is as "sporty" as a TRD Camry/Avalon. An old car with an up-to-date price that is not really deserve.
Is this based on TNGA-K platform?
@@wyw201 Nah, same old car with facelift outlook and been called "All New"
@@bigg4816 Would Lexus move to TNGA or would they have their own platform?
@@wyw201 The next REAL new IS will be shared platform with next gen Mazda 6 (like BRZ/86 twin). It will be a brand new RWD platform with a BRAND NEW INLINE 6 engine!! This is the Lexus/Mazda people should be hyped about.
@@RealAvus Is this confirmed by Toyota, will it replace IS 250 or IS 350?
I am absolutely loving the intro music!
OH MY thank you so much for adding the KW and NM figures on the video! Each time I have to pause and convert them to understand how much power and torque cars make XD
Bruh. That Dashboard design looks like it’s from 2010
Because it is.
And that engines from 2005
Nothing wrong with it.... Very functional and much better looking than the weird stuff we see from Acura IMHO
LFA inspired lol
I don't understand why people say the interior looks like it is old.
Lexus my favorite luxury brand currently we own IS350, NX200T, ES350 😎👍
I'd take the Audi S4, but I am biased as that was my first sporty car when I was younger.
Yea me too
It would also whoop this cars ass in terms of actual performance, basically every other option in the segment will if you get the top trim/top engine
Same this competes more with the s3 given the size. But that's what I'd take given that they're similarly priced
I had an S4 and it runs circles around this thing. Way more advanced tech and looked like it was worth the price. IS is stuck in 2010..
@@omgitsme435 better than abnoxious touch screens everywhere.
Your intro tracks get me even more hyped than I thought I was to watch you vids😂
See this in person and it looks so good!
The dark red leather seats makes the car look 1,000 times better!
Thank you for adding kW for everyone outside of US
This is my favorite review video of yours! Keep up the good work fellas!! 👍🏾👍🏾
Yuri, "I was in eco even". If you're old enough to remember Snaglepuss, you'll get it - even.
heavens to murgatroyd- this man is as old as me...older-even
I own the rwd 8 speed auto 2022 lexus is 350f sport. I wanted the is500 but playing it smart since I have a 90 mile commute everyday.
If you were able to afford the 500 I would have definitely went with that instead ! The 350 still nice tho
Love the 80s movie music in the intro. Classy touch.
I can't stop seeing all that fender gap in the opening.
My 'affordable` dream car. Naturally aspirated V6. Good interior. Amazing reliability. I think 99% of drivers don`t need more for the street and everyday driving.
This reminds me of the 2014. I remember a few years back I could have got a 2014 IS350 fsport for 18k. Kind of wish I had
I get not being in love with a car, but Yuri just comes off as a super whiney millenial in this video.
Features does not mean luxury.
can wait for the IS 500 F Sport 🤩
Hopefully it’s only $70k fully loaded. A Corvette C7 Z06 is my next car if it isn’t the V8 IS. I can get a 650HP 2016 Corvette for $60k (used) lol.
Test drove this thing when it first came out and even then it wasn't top of the board, can't imagine now..
I can’t wait to pick one of these up in 5-6 years 🙂
I’ve been waiting for a review on this car!!
Thanks for providing KW for power figures, especially for us Aussies down under!
I just test drove this 🥺😍 I'm annoyed and in love. I was headed for a BMW, but this will be her ❤️.
this car is the ultimate “ok” car
Incoming pissed off fanboys.
Me: I agree there is nothing special about the IS. It’s a sporty sedan not a sports sedan
As a daily driver, it's great, everything else... Meh...
Yep. It’s a great car to have if you already have a dedicated weekend car and about twice the budget to splurge on a new Corolla.
“Ok” cars don’t look like this. Also incoming F model
Spiritual successor of E46s....
this car looks SO. GOOD. especially in this spec!
That color too! Cloudburst Gray is so sexy.
Man seeing these in person they literally look like spaceships, especially in the iridium silver colour way really stands out in traffic 👌
Oh my heart, with the techno vibes
People are hating on Lexus for being outdated. Why do you think the Lexus GX has yet to be updated, because it’s not modern it’s old school and comfortable and reliable and people like old school. That thing sells like crazy
Depends on the drive mode. If you go full manual on sport+, it's really responsive.
Originally wanted the caviar exterior but falling in love with the cloudburst grey
Am I the only one that thinks it looks like a new camry at the rear end when you look at it from the side?
I see a bit of Lexus UX in the back of the IS. But imo the Camry XSE looks better at the back w those sleek taillights
not even close
5:03 The Stinger absolutely does not look better than the Lexus 😤 just saying
Last time I was this early my mom had to get a C-Section
Just bought one last night on Oahu I don't give a f*** what anybody says in person it's beautiful handling is perfect for my needs and my 5-8 surfboard can fit perfect in the back
Lexus grilles are starting to look more like the Infiniti's lol
Anyway, I don't like the steering wheel. It looks kinda dated to me
But the outside looks good
The Lexus ISF is one way can’t wait
It’s on winter tires, what were you expecting it to do on track with those squishy tread blocks? 🤔
M5 Competition was also on winters 😉
@@TheStraightPipes oh the M5 Competition with 306HP more that can pull drifts on bone dry pavement wasn’t too bothered by the winter tires huh 🤣
Just bringing up your same point as a counterpoint. Now you've added more to your argument
@@TheStraightPipes Maybe try doing a long-press on the Traction Control Off button next time. Not sure how a former IS owner didn't know this.
