Gotta say, the uke you built sounds awesome. I play a soprano scale vintage instrument (I think it was built by Oscar Schmidt?) and it has a great tone below the fifth fret or so but things start getting pretty plunky up higher. Not to mention super tight fret spacing
i have an old uke like yours the reason i like it better than most is because it doesn't have any sustain. i don't want banjos with sustain. i like punch and drive and percussive. if you like the old sound you don't want sustain. great vid.👍👍👍👍👍
Fellow builder here, working on my first banjo uke (for my daughter). Just ran across your channel. Great stuff. What is the nut width of your uke vs the older one?
They both sound great, and it's lovely to see where your inspiration came from. I too like a tapered neck, but you're right, you rarely see them now.

Like your style and humility…..Clearly know what you’re talking about! Good on ya Mate!
Love it. Makes me want to work on the set up of my langstile long scale.
Beautiful sound. I would like to buy one from you. How do I do?
I like the black one

I love it
At the high level of workmanship you are at, no one should be squawking about the shape of the heel on your instruments !!!
Your ukes and banjos are outstanding!!
Your Bean Sprout banjo has a great sound! Do the Banjoleles have the same fingering (fretting) as a tenor banjo?
No, they are tuned like an ukulele.

Quail Creek Banjos I use 1 3/8”. The old one is a little under 1 1/2”
Man, I’d love to learn to build! What an amazing talent you guys have. Suggested resource?
What kind of strings are you using on each instrument?
Thomas Snape my sets of fluorocarbon strings. I have them for sale at thebeansprout.com
@@beansproutmusicalinstruments Thanks!
Your version sounds better. Deeper, more complex tone.
Thanks
