    Glad you got the projects done and taking a vacation boating trip! We celebrated my b-day Saturday at the marina, the Farmer's Market and then lunch at a local restaurant, and on the walk back ran into the boat broker who sold our boat for us about 2 years ago. He mentioned that the buyer had moved the boat back into our marina, so the broker asked if we wanted to take a look at what the buyer did to it. What a trip down memory lane, he added radar, a much better dinghy system and smaller OB motor and had replaced a lot of things on the boat. Apparently it helps to have $$$. It's been 10 years since we bought the boat, 2 since selling it, and yes it does tug at the heart a little bit but hard to afford it going forward. For those who love boating... there is nothing else like it! Fun times. Looking forward to more updates and video of your vacation trip! Cheers!

      Cool story, thanks for sharing.
      Agreed that once you've done a fair amount of #boating, there's nothing like it. And now that we are back out, doing some serious #cruising, it really gets under the skin.
      I hope you'll look forward to the rest of my videos in this series. I'll be doing some reminiscing of our own boating memories in the next one 🎥
      Cheers, Paul.

    We did the same stretch last week. We spent the first night in Fenelon Falls, then did a run to Lindsay and back the next day. We spent the night at the Kirkfield lift lock on the wall. The next day we headed back to Orillia, and anchored at Big Chief Island. There were probably 70 or more boats anchored for the night in the bay. We then carried on past Big Chute that day, and got stranded below the marine railway as it broke down. We got under way the next morning, and I saw the Bugaboo at the Big Chute Marina while I was getting gas. I said good morning to you Paul, and that I enjoy your channel. Keep up the good work. I get lots of knowledge about the Trent from you. Cheers to you and Anchor girl.

    Great video work, As soon as my girlfriend retires, were going to spend most of our time doing short cruises. Can't wait. You're video just adds to the enjoyment ahead of us. Safe travels Captain...

      Thanks! The only thing I love doing more than #boating, is putting together these videos to share the awesome areas we are fortunate enough to cruise through :-) I hope you'll get a chance to watch the entire 24 episode 'Epic 2018 Boat Cruise' series (ua-cam.com/play/PLKhjT5kr2l2G9YFc4WkBlJ9CzwSGp92Pf.html). We are looking forward to taking #Boogaboo up to and through Georgian Bay this coming season and sharing lots more from that area, so stay tuned :-)
      Cheers, Paul.

    I think going from the 400 to this vessel is a great move. It's still large enough to really enjoy long trips, but much more economical.

      Absolutely, #boating is a wonderful lifestyle, but it also requires lots of continuing effort to keep a #cruising vessel up to snuff - just take a look at my DIY Playlist to see all the work I've put into our last couple of #boats. But it's all worth it to see some beautiful areas and create lifelong memories.
      Check the link in the description to see my continuing series 'Epic 2018 Boat Cruise'. There's 14 episodes so far, with more added every Thursday. Lots of inspiring scenery :-)
      Cheers, Paul.

    Pretty cool to see. The company I work for James Dick did all the Dumping of the lower locks and removed a lot of that old dirt that was there. The company that did the locks did a Good job. Actually at Lock 40, I backed down into the lock floor as I was being directed I sank up to my axles with 21 tonnes of material they needed for the lock walls the sides. it was an interesting number of months working on that Lock. The operation was literally 24/7 for a while. Now I guess it is all cosmetic. But lets see what happens when the season ends soon.. Great video. My wife and I are thinking of boating..

    • @BoatingWithBoogaboo
      @BoatingWithBoogaboo  6 років тому

      Ya, it was a lot of work and effort put into the lock repairs, not only there, but at a number of other locations allong the Trent Severn Waterway as well. Nice to see the government's commitment to keeping the system going for another 100 years 👍
      And yes, you should see it from a #boat. Many beautiful spots to visit!

    do you get a lot of steering wander when cruising at low speeds on the canal?

    • @BoatingWithBoogaboo
      @BoatingWithBoogaboo  6 років тому

      I generally keep it at around 1,100 rpm to avoid that, and keep within the 10 km speed limit.

    We ran the Welland, Oswego, and Erie Canals last year. I'm hoping to come up and run the Trent next Spring and spend the Summer in Detroit again.
    I heard there are zones of restricted generator use on the Trent, is that still the case?

    • @BoatingWithBoogaboo
      @BoatingWithBoogaboo  6 років тому

      We've been enjoying traveling along the length of the Trent Severn Waterway for 15 years now and have never heard of the generator restricted zones you mention. I think that just might be a comment coming from a visitor who had a less than enjoyable experience somewhere.
      And yes, we have and use a built in generator ourselves. Of course, one should always be mindful and considerate of thier neighbors when running a genny.
