You guys are the best. I am a new knitter and am tackling new things such as socks. I'm inspired to do sweaters by all of your videos. I just really appreciate your joy and love for one another and for the craft. Thank you!!
Love your videos. Thanks so much for your comments about more budget friendly yarn alternatives. Many of us knitters simply cannot afford Indie dyed yarn all the time. Thanks again
Thank you ladies for shedding light and breaking stigma on mental health! You both have my heart
Your podcast is my favorite. I get soo excited when I see you gals have a new video. Thank you for sharing and for all the knit love!
Thank you for your discussion on anxiety! I too had a bad attack last night and I haven't had one like that for a while....full on shaking and crying and hyperventilating. It's not fun! I ended up taking about 40 laps around my house to get some exercise to help calm the brain. Then my kid woke up at 2 am and threw up on me so that really helped pull my brain into reality as well, lol. It is always good to know we aren't alone and it's a scary thing to go through. PS my kiddo is much better! :)
OMG!!!!!! I just found this channel, and I could listen to you guys forever!! Love, Love,Love you guys❤️❤️😃😃👍👍👍👍
Found your wonderful podcast by chance and I LOVE it! So many exciting products & patterns to discover! Congrats!
So so love you two! You brighten my day and my first laugh is when I watch you! The story about staying at the farm was the best! You are both so blessed to have such a wonderful sister relationship! Can’t wait to meet you at the retreat in May! Big hugs!!
I wish you did an episode every day! You two lovely ladies make me laugh when I watch you. You certainly can tell you love knitting and sharing with us!!
Love your kit ladies! Beautiful colors! Thanks for another great video!! :-)
You two ladies are the best. Love that you aren’t afraid to be open about your mental health/anxiety. I find that a lot of people give it lip service but would rather ignore it because they are uncomfortable talking about it. I have been on antidepressants for a couple years now. They have not cured me but help me get through the day a little better.
Thank you SOOO VERY MUCH for sharing about anxiety attacks, Jodi. At 66, I’ve been experiencing them for 22 years and gratefully they are occurring much, much less. I get what you said about them seeming to come out of nowhere...isn’t that frustrating? Sending hugs from a fellow sensitive person. Tracey, you said everything just right to share your judgement free love and support. My experience of people who don’t experience this has often been quite different. I said thank you to you right out loud during the podcast. Thank you for helping to soothe something in me. Blessings to you both! 💕
Hi Jodi and Tracie! I am so happy I found your channel and have been binge watching it over the past week. The only problem is I am working backwards so I see the finished objects before the start of making them so it's kind of funny. But I love you both, you remind me so much of me and my sister Tracy. Thank you for bringing back my love of knitting and my mojo. Please go on a Canadian tour and visit us here in Nova Scotia. Lots of beautiful yarn down here. Can't wait to see your next episode and keep up the great work. So inspiring in so many ways.
Thanks so much for talking about anxiety openly! I’ve had anxiety my whole life and horrible panic attacks since I was in 2nd grade. I’m 41 now and just started a low dose anti-anxiety medication and so regret the years I refused to try a medication. It has not erased my anxiety but it takes the edge off and has made my life so much better! Thanks for being open about it!
I got to know you wonderful ladies on Off Your Needles series on Craftsy (Bluprint). I am now starting your podcasts....watching #1 then a recent one, then back to #2, back to recent. This podcast rang so true with my life....except for the weather....I'm in California and we haven't been much colder than 55 degrees all week during the day. Your stories about how cold you get in Canada....oh my gosh!
I recently retired from teaching in the public schools for 20+ years and I now have time to knit and quilt. Love your ideas, your projects, your reviews. Please never stop your visits. Thank you also for being so honest about anxiety and panic attacks. I have finally admitted that I needed help from my doctor and I feel so much better now that I have medicine to help. You girls are so real. Love you!
Love your farm stories. I was one of those kids that happily spent the whole day outside. We would zoom into the kitchen climb on the counter, grab the mayo to make an open face mayo sandwich, and run back outside. We had apple trees and huge pine trees to climb, a variety of animals and a small river across the way...and lots of siblings. We were only 22 miles from NYC, but in the 1950s before celebrities discovered it, it was country. Some of mom's respite from us was some quiet knitting!
Just ordered my spincycle yarn for The Shift Cowl. Had to shop around to find 3 skeins that went together but I finally did and Im so excited to get it and cast on! Love you ladies!!
Hello, ladies, I just wanted to thank you for being so open about hormonal issues. I'm right there with ya finding out all about everything they don't tell you about menopause. The anxiety can be paralyzing. It's so good to know that I'm not the only one working through it.
Ladies! I am so happy to see your beaming faces again!
What comes to my mind when I hear you talking about knitting shawls and cowls is: you totally should bring all the shawls you' ve knit since you started the podcast and talk about the ayes and nays of each one.
Kind of drawer- browsing...if you get what I mean.
Great idea!!
I've been thinking the same thing!
At the age of forty I finally saw being medicated for anxiety as a part of functioning with my mental health rather than a failure to "fix" myself. I was blown away by how clearly I could think and function with some help. I still have episodes but knowing they will end ( I actually wrote it down because in the moments of anxiety you can't see outside of it ) makes all the difference.
Cascade 220 wave is a fabulous sub fir the shift. Very economical and squishy. Love your podcast. Thank you for sharing ‘life’ experiences as many suffer in silence. You are so talented, transparent and humble and I love spending time with you through your podcast.
Ladies love seeing you again. Love everything you made. Jodi I too suffer from anxiety and depression for many years and knitting keeps me sane. Hugs to you my friend. Love ya 🥰🥰
Love the shawl kit!! Thanks for your candid discussion of panic attacks. My daughter deals with them and we always appreciate any discussion😍
I love you girls!!! I found you a week ago on Blueprint and have watched all the Off Our Needles. I to suffer from anxiety and panic attacks. It is so refreshing to listen to both of you. I am a beginner knitter but you guys have given me the bug. 😁
Beautiful kit! I am so excited to learn that you hope to make this a regular thing!
Love seeing you back in the kitchen...it’s so bright...love the GROCERY
Omg I’ve been looking for a mini subscription! Immediately subscribed! I love your positive attitudes and support of each other’s work. So glad I found your channel.
So happy to hear you will be at Stitches West Tracie for one day! This is the biggest event I attend and I am so lucky to live in the South Bay Area and can drive there. It is so wonderful to just be among so many “yarn lovers” and to see so many beautiful creations. I just love sitting down and starting conversations with fellow knitters and find out where they are from and what they are working on 😊. I hope the weather will be good for you and your husband...it will definitgely be warmer than Edmonton, AB 😃
I. Love. You. Guys. My Saturday mornings are now knitting and knitting podcasts and yours is my favorite. I feel like I know you. Thanks!
I have GAD and C-PTSD. Thank you so much for talking openly about anxiety and mental health. Knit on!
I listen to a lot of the same podcasts. I love watching the two of you on my 50 inch television. It’s like having both of you in the room with me!
Okay so you two! I don't even knit! I am a crocheter and ever since I found you girls I can't wait to listen to you both!!! I just cleaned out my junk drawer and it flew by because I could listen to you! Love Love to you both on Valentine's day!!!! Thank you so very much!!!
Your cute pups should be a permanent part of the podcast, I enjoyed watching them do doggo things in the background :D lol
Creative people are allways anxious It comes with the ticket. So glad Jodie you brought this up xxxxx
Love watching you ladies and all the beautiful items you make!
Thank you ladies! You two make me so happy!
Hey ladies! Loved seeing all your projects and I really want to make the Shift cowl now...gorgeous! We had so much snow this past week in the Seattle area. I worked from home for two days and loved it! My granddaughter’s school has been closed since Monday cause we just don’t know how to handle it on the West Coast. I do love it though. Have fun in SF Tracie! It’s one of our favorite cities. Lot’s of great food and beautiful sightseeing. Napa and Sonoma are lovely as well.
Thank you ladies for hours of fun entertainment and important dialogs!!
Loving the episode, I’m catching up as I fell behind oops!!! Thank you for talking about Menopause stuff. I have Early onset menopause start at 35 and nearly three years later I’m still having all the horrid stuff too xx
Ladies!!! Thank you for keeping me company at work!!! ;)
Thank you Jodi for speaking about your anxiety - definately helps not to feel alone!
Yay! I'm currently working on my first Malibu Shawl and first mitts knit in the round of course the Hastings!!! :)
Love you!!
Im almost in tears hearing talk about your anxiety. It's like you were talking about one of my episodes. It's so crazy how embarrassed I have always been about mine. I have had panic attacks since I was about 10 (38 now) finally at 32 I got it under "control" with light dose meds. I thought it was me not being strong enough to get through it. Thank you for sharing. Hopefully others will not go through the pain for so long without getting help. It can feel so hopeless but your sharing will help others see we can overcome this. Thank you! ❤
Sitting in Mexico working on a Galiano sock listening to the vid. As a kid who grew up in the country I howled at your horror stories about being sent to the farm and being forced to play outside all day! Had my own adventures with electric fences!!! Love you ladies!
Thank you Tracie and Jody! Your sweaters look fantastic - I love that you wear what you knit. Also thanks for the inspiration - I'm downloading the workbook on inclusivity
I’m a knitter and psychologist and have anxiety. I have learned, like you, that you have to let it ride and it will pass. The more you fight it the more anxiety rears. Knitting is such a great mindful activity that battles anxiety. Love you gals and the more we put it out there the more mental health is a normal part of life. XO gals
thank you so much! knitting really is amazing therapy ❤️
Another reason to love you guys. Thanks for talking about mental health. It’s up to all of us to end that stigma. ❤️❤️❤️
its our pleasure to keep it real and share.... not just our knitting.
thanks for the ❤️!!
I totally care that you're going to Stitches, Tracie! I'm going for the first time- and i didn't think I could have been more excited- but my excitement just grew exponentially! Wish you were going too, Jodi, but then I may have exploded. Thanks for sharing about anxiety, hormones, and dinner ideas. You two are helpful and real- as always.
Thank you for a wonderful episode ladies. Yes, please have a Grocery Girls knit along! Glad to hear you've got a handle on your anxiety. I have to say that from my late 40s through my early 50s, I hardly recognized myself and behaved in new and frightening ways (50s rage). So glad to be mellowing out as I approach 60 next month. Love all the mittens and looking forward to the bew hat pattern.
Great podcast, ladies. Love all the projects. Very inspiring!!
This was a great one, girls! You talked about so many things and it was all good 😊
Love all the subjects you hit on! Thanks for making my day!
BTW, Row One is wonderful Happy Mail!!!
I get the Row One mystery yarn each month. I always get beautiful mini-skeins with information about the dyer. It's just a little treat for myself. Luv the podcast.
Your mittens are gorgeous! Thank you for the Manos del Uruguay shoutout! It is a really good company from my little country to the world and it makes me proud that you enjoy the work of our artisans! ❤️🧶🇺🇾
Juliana Leverrier García hello! Yes....I am a longtime fan of many Manos del Uruguay yarns. So beautiful! Lucky you to have such beautiful local yarn 🧶 ♥️
Love you ladies 💕 and love the kit ! Id totally get one if customs were not involved. Adore lemons so sounds like perfect and the yarn 💕 and the bag 😍 totally inlove
Yarn Culture used to be my LYS. I loved going there. I'm 6000 miles away from there, but whenever I'm back I go there. I am definitely going to knit Tracie's sweater. It looks so good on you.
Finally knitted up the Wavy Legs hat. Loved the pattern so much that I now have made 3 of them in 3 different yarns. Love it so much!!
Love seeing you wear your hand knit sweaters. They are beautiful
Really enjoy your podcasts
I do not do Instagram, tried , but not happening
You two crack me up, that story of you girls being sent to the farm was too funny, had me laughing so much!
I'm from Uruguay but live in Vancouver, for 48 years now, and have been at Manos del Uruguay and the Malabrigo plant in Montevideo.
I absolutely love love your podcasts!
I was telling my knitty friend all about your podcast today. I told her about your weather too. I'm sure you said it can be -32 and when it's -11 you feel warmer! I just can't lol. Stay warm . I like hearing of your menopause goings on. It's weird how I know that all women go through this but sometimes I feel so alone . Thanks girls xxxx
I was so happy to see your podcast up. I got so hungry, I'm now looking up the recipe for chicken picatta. Yumm! All your knits were so gorgeous, the Hasting mitts, Jodi's new hat, and that Shift cowl, amazing.
Thank you so much for talking about your anxiety!! It can not be an easy thing to talk about, but as a parent of a 10 year old who I think has anxiety, it was really nice to hear the support that you have in your life and what you have been able to do. We are still in the beginning stages of figuring out what is going on with my daughter, but I am hoping that because we are talking about it now, she will never have to feel alone in her journey.
Thank you so much for talking openly about your anxiety. So many women struggle with it. We have to talk about it more.
Jody, thanks for being so open about your anxiety. I struggled with anxiety throughout my life. I take medication as well. I also work in mental health and unfortunately there’s still so much stigma.
Oh that Malibu shawl package is so gorgeous!! And, spun right round ... I am beside myself!! Did a Boyland Knit glacier park cowl using Spun Right Round. Love to both of you 😘😘
Thanks for the podcast suggestions! I LOVE listening to my murder shows! I’ve been listening to Someone Knows Something. Very good. Very sad. One of my all time faves is S Town. Worth listening to again. You guys are the best! I woke up this morning and saw the new episode and plopped my butt on the couch with my coffee! Muah! Hugs and kisses from Florida!
You guys are just too cool. I love, love, love that you talk about so many things. I LOVE you.
❤️ to you!
This weather is atrocious!! -30 C is not fun to be outside in, but unfortunately some don’t have any other choice, the ice storm was brutal, my poor dogs had to be carried out to do their business.(thank goodness they’re small dogs, Shih Tsu and a Chihuahua)
I have anxiety attacks too, I haven’t had one in a few months but they’re terrible!! Shaking, crying uncontrollably, hyperventilating, which is not a great thing since I have severe asthma. I feel for you, Jodi.
I love your projects ladies!!
I bought a Grocery Girls pin, I love it 😍
Love your socks too!!
Awesome collaboration, the kit sounds amazing!!!
Happy knitting from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
❤️Marie
Oh, Jodie I know that feeling during an anxiety attack. It’s awful. I’m sorry you went through that recently. ❤️
Oooo Tracie! I’ll be at Stitches all weekend (as a visitor, not a vendor)! I’d love to meet you in person. ❤️❤️
Love you ladies! So thrilled your video went up on Valentine's Day.
Looking forward to seeing you again at Stitches West. It was great seeing both of you the last time. I will miss you Jodi. You might want to bring a few knits because we've had several storms passing through with heavy rains and winds.
I've been dealing with chronic panic attacks and anxiety for 20 years. It's really frustrating. It's life interrupting. i tried the medication route, but it sapped me of my whole personality. I just deal with it as it comes. So awful. Thanks for talking about this!
I’m so happy you posted this today! I needed a good knitting distraction! 🧶
Oh God, anxiety attacks, they’re the worst!! I also wound up in hospital thinking it was my heart about 20 years ago. Have been on meds ever since... I feel for you, but like I tell my daughter who also suffers with them, we are stronger than our thoughts, we can fight them.
As always loved your podcast, I hate when it’s over!! Have fun in San Fran❤️❤️
thank you ladies!! you make my life better!
Thank you girls! I am so excited and happy that this time I was able to get your preorder for the wonderful kit. Yay me!!!! I can't wait to receive it. Love you girls so much. You always make my day and I look forward to your next visit. take care,
Yarn Culture is in Fairport NY and my granddaughter lives about 5miles from their shop. Always visit when
I go to see my granddaughter .
Your podcast is my favor.
I love that you are smoking to Stitches West for fiber and that your husband is going to play golf-that is exactly how it works in my marriage! In fact, we are planning a 30th wedding anniversary trip to Ireland and Scotland where we spend most of our time together, but I will also be doing a yarn tour and he will do a golf and whiskey tour. This is the way we both stay happy-fun to see that others do as well!
I completely understand! I started to have those at 23... then not again until after I had a trip to the ER for dehydration in Fl. 2010 I was 41 doing an island clean-up. I had to go to see a therapist and he taught me breathing exercises I do a little lexapro... and now about 8 years later less attacks for sure when the attacks happen... mine are at 3 or 4qm... I finally know I won't die when my heart races /sweating.... THANK YOU for sharing your story. I feel a little shame telling my new dr. Wish I didnt have this going on. But you are right. I should just NOT feel like this. It is not my fault. Long story. But you give me hope! Xoxo love picatta too mmmmmmm
Loved this video so much! I completely understand how it feels to have a panic attack or anxiety attack, Jodi! After giving birth to my first child almost 26 years ago, I had Post Pardum Psychosis, and I was in the psychiatric ward of the hospital for two months. I was hearing voices. Rare but it can happen to anyone. Since then I've had panic attacks and been clinically depressed. Not always on meds and also in denial. There is a terrible shame that comes with depression and over the years I've had to deal with close family members judging me rather than trying to understand it. All I can do is listen to my doctor and take care of my mental health. I have come to terms with having to take anti-depressants for the remainder of my life. Some days I still don't want to get out of bed. But as a proud mother of two amazing women, I want them to know that they are strong and can overcome mental health issues if they ever feel overwhelmed by them. I know so many people have anxiety attacks and struggle with the loneliness and shame of them. It is not our fault. It's an issue that we all need to be sensitive to and realize it does happen more than we may know, and is not something to be embarrassed about. I'm so thankful for my family support. If you ever find yourself alone with an attack coming on; I have found that chocolate and a really relaxing song can help as well as breathing deeply and counting. Thank you ladies for all that you bring to your videos. I love the talks and of course the lovely yarn and patterns. :)
I love the Wavy Legs hat pattern. Just finished my second one. I did it in Malabrigo Rios and had quite a bit of it so I made a matching cowl by adding some stitches to the pattern
I got super excited when I saw that y’all had a new video
Girls we have a friend straight from Italy who immigrated here...hard to understand him lol. But he showed us that he makes Italian sausage with onion mushrooms and bell peppers. Add garlic and tomatoe sauce. Let simmer for 30 minutes and serve over a hoagie bun. YUM
Just discovered you lovely ladies😍 love love your podcast!! I’m a new knitter your very inspirational xxxx😍😍
Love your show ladies and Jodi, thank you so much for sharing your story of anxiety with us all. You are both so right on about there still being a stigma attached to mental illness of any kind. We need to get rid of that.
Also, Tracie did you know that there will be a Stitches for the very first time here in Utah this October 2-5th and sewing and quilting will be featured as well as knitting. WOW! You will have to come and check it out.
Thank you Jodi for sharing about your struggle with anxiety ❤️
Love you two!
Hot flashes, aka personal summers, aka heater is broken and parts are on backorder!
I have had one of those panic attacks before, I have them so bad that I can't go into work. I'm with you, love you Jodi!
Omg I’m a HUGE Disney fan and can’t believe the Yarn Ink club! March is already sold out. I’d love to see Feb and March colors! 😍😍 Thank You GG for the kink because I was spelling it wrong and couldn’t find it!
I love you two!!!! I just found you from Louise The Bighaired Bookworm. You remind me of my sister and myself, you're so freakin funny I laughed so hard I almost peed myself. Thank you for sharing your selves and your knitting!!!
Fulling is the process of washing fabric that is hand knit or hand woven. In weaving, the fabric coming off the loom isn’t “finished” until it is fulled which causes the warp and weft to meld together into a usable fabric. It is very different from felting. The fabric does shrink both in width and length. Knitted fabric also shrinks as the yarns are more closely aligned, creating a denser fabric.
Love your sweaters! I suffer anxiety attacks too ! Mine started with menopause. Anti anxiety meds help. But every once in awhile one sneaks thru and catches you
omg your farm story had me rolling...!!!! Thanks for the laughs this morning : )
I loved the cooking and mental health segments !! I found you guys through Legacy Knitz!
I love how fun and generous you are with each other. What a blessing to have a lifelong girlfriend (and knitting buddy to boot!) ♥️
Thank you for another great podcast! oxox
Wow those colors of the Malibu shawl is beautiful!!
Ohmygosh Jodi the colours are to die for in your Malibu shawl..... adding it to by bucket list, with those exact colours. Xxxx
Great video Ladies....always so entertaining and informative. We've had lots of rain in the SF Bay Area. I hope it is dry when you are here but bring a raincoat just in case.
Great episode...thank you so much for your discussion on anxiety...I related to everything you said about it
Happy Valentine's day to my 2 favorite sisters!💕💕
Traci I love your Hamilton. It inspired me to buy the pattern. I am still looking for just the right yarn. I love how it looks on you!
thanks so much!
