Hey everyone! Which backpacks would you like to see compared in our next video? Drop your suggestions in the comments and we’ll make sure to consider them. Can’t wait to hear your ideas!
I have both. I would only purchase the "plus" in the future. Unpacked both are very similar in size. The plus allows for more when needed, the upgrades are really nice, and the panel on the front comes in really handy. The main difference in size is how much you pack in the bag. If you packed both with the same items, you would not really notice the Plus is larger. The items will have more room in the plus as shown in the video. The panel on the plus allows for a jacket to be put in and when damp does not get the main compartment items wet. The zippered pocket on the front can hold a cell phone or wallet and you do not need to open the main compartment to access.
@@Backpackiesseriously- your side-by-side comparisons (all of them) are THE best. I love how you literally have the simultaneous views or the logical one-following-the-other for each feature. Also love how you actually put the same items in each pack so we can see the amount of space that differs. And the big book about birds - love this so much❤❤❤. I just got back from a trip and am obsessing about upgrading my travel set-up and am so glad I stumbled across your channel. Wish I had found it first🤩🤩
Great vid. Helped me make my mind up. One thing I never see backpack reviewers show, is how they hang on the back when empty. Some buckle or press into your lumbar in an annoying way when lightly loaded. Would be great to see that demo'd.
Thank you for reviewing the side pocket capacity for bottles. This is an important detail that doesn’t really get the attention it needs, especially for large bottle users. Just purchased the Daylight based on your review. Thank you!!
You should check with your specific airline for the personal item size requirements but the Osprey Daylite usually falls under the limit. However, both backpacks are squishy and you should have no issue fitting them under an airline seat if you avoid overpacking them.
I found the DayLite to be an ideal travel carry-on type bag, and a great day pack. The Plus would have been too big and bulky for the light bag I needed, so the smaller one was the right one for me.
Thanks for sharing your experience! We agree, the size of the Daylite is a sweet spot for those situations where you don’t want a bulky backpack but a sling bag would be too small.
Good comparison--thanks! One question--with the compression straps on the sides, it'd be possible to make the DL Plus a little smaller if need be, right? I like having that option. Thanks!
This video literally saved me from standing in my favorite outdoor store for 20 minutes comparing these packs side by side. Also, “Plateau” is officially stuck in my head for the remainder of the day.
Depends on the airline's carry-on and personal item bag requirements. We recommend always checking with the airline for maximum bag dimensions before your flight because every airline is different.
Osprey should have given the larger bag it’s own name. They gave in to the temptation to capitalize on the popularity of the Daylite name. Unfortunately, they’re making the confusion even worse by offering the Daylite, the Daylite plus, the Daylite 26-2, and the Daylite sling. I love my gen1 Daylite but they need to stop the insanity.
Why would they even put that pocket there is it can’t fit a normal bike helmet or a normal pair of sneakers. All they has to do was make it just a little more expandable. That was a massive design mistake and makes me want to pass this pack up for something with those features but designed properly.
That's a good point. It seems like the Daylite Plus was designed more for hiking than commuting or carrying bulky items but expanding the front stash pocket would have been an easy win.
The newest Daylite models got rid of the back panel pocket. The hydration sleeves are inside the main compartment now with a hydration port as shown in the video. But yes, the older models had a hydration sleeve on the outside.

Patagonia Atom 8L sling pack vs Osprey Daylite Sling 6L pack.
Great idea, thanks for suggestion!
REI Ruckpack 18 vs 28
A big book about birds is what got me. Thank you for the video, it really helped me make a choice!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for taking the time to watch.
I died when I heard the crow! 😂

Great insights. Thank you!
Very helpful, thank you.
You sure? If you wanna pack it flat inside a suitcase- which model would feel like it takes less space/thickness within the carry-on suitace?
Daylight 13L hits the sweet spot for ultra lightweight airplane travel and it fits under the seat with room to spare.
Excellent I appreciate the extra video work put in to do side-by-side views. Also, minimal editorializing, some folks just talk too much. Thx!
Much appreciated! Thanks for watching!

I bought both. Osprey would be geniuses if could factor in a slip pocket on the back of the pack like the Deuter Speedlite 25.
Daylite regular is my preferred, but I’m also super minimal and I like less. I use it for extended day-hiking.
Love this type of comparison! So clear! Thanks
Nothing on the top but a bucket and a mop, and an illustrated book about birds.
Haha that song was on my mind when she said that too!
Super helpful side by side with the same loadout for comparisons!! Thank you for this video, subscribed!!

That's a great idea! These two packs are so lightweight that they feel like air when you have them on empty haha

I would love to see the Osprey Arcane Large Day Backpack vs the small version.
Can both be used as personal bag during a flight that fits under the seat?

this is such a good comparison video! amazing work guys
Hi- I love this color way combo! Do you know the name or how I can find them. The links I clicked on don’t show this color option available.
Hey! These are a past season color called Axo Green Enchantment Purple
In addition to the dims, it would be awesome to include the bag weight and load capacities if available. Thanks and keep up the great work!
Noted! This kind of feedback is very appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to watch!
Torn between the Daylite plus and the Gregory Rhune 20

Thank you for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed the video.

Yes, absolutely. The compression straps control the depth of the pack on light packing days.
Osprey Parsec 26 vs. Tropos vs. Nebular, it is all unisex but I would like to see how it fits to women. Thank you!
Great suggestions. We'll look into it!
Daylite plus vs Gregory Nano 20

Glad it helped!
What is the little interior buckle above the laptop sleeve used for?
It's to hook up a hydration bladder for hiking. You can see it in action here 01:20
Just purchased the Plus to take over my Borealis by North Face!
I am wondering exactly how wide the laptop sleeve is on the NON-plus? Could it fit a macbook 14"?
The sleeve in the regular Daylite will fit a 14" Macbook but it'll be a tighter fit. Hope this helps!
would airlines accept bringing a farpoint 40l + the daylite?
Depends on the airline's carry-on and personal item bag requirements. We recommend always checking with the airline for maximum bag dimensions before your flight because every airline is different.
Great review!
Thank you!
Great comparison. Still super useful in 2024.
Great video and the big book about birds was a hilarious choice !
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!
It's too bad I can't find the color option from this video
These colors were on sale at the time the video was made 😅 Pretty sure Osprey was phasing them out.
thanks!

Agreed! There are so many variations of the Daylite now it's hard to keep up.
Is it a suspended laptop pocket?
Yes both Daylites have a suspended laptop pocket of about a 1/4 inch
@@Backpackies thank you!
Perfect review - now I know the Daylight Plus is best for me!
Awesome! Glad it helped
Can any of them stand up alone?
No, neither of them have flat bottoms 😭
Is there any similar backpack that has a flat bottom?@@Backpackies
Osprey hikelite
very helpful, thanks
Very helpful
Great review and it convinced me that I don't like either of them.
Lol fair enough!
It doesn't matter

That pocket is still quite useful for quick acces for smaller items.
Love this video. I bought the plus
Thank you! Glad you found it helpful
You're putting the Hydraulics in the wrong place... A designated sleeve on the back of the bag is used for this
The newest Daylite models got rid of the back panel pocket. The hydration sleeves are inside the main compartment now with a hydration port as shown in the video. But yes, the older models had a hydration sleeve on the outside.
great video
Thanks!
I'm not leaving house without big book about birds.
I wish I found your channel earlier.

Book about birds
Who carries a big book about birds? Bird watchers leave that $hit at home just fyi.
Absolutely, the oversized bird book was all in good fun! Bird watchers know best. 😉
