  • These are some of the best and worst tools from the Bauer tool line that I have experience with. I am really happy with the tool line in general but there are a few tools that are weak links in the system as well as a few tools that are strong parts of the systems.

I bought into Bauer for price, diy home use, and color scheme.
I took a job with a contractor. Now i use them daily on the job, either carpentry or masonry. I'm glad I didn't spent 4x the money on the big brands, bc Bauer does the job just fine

Man a lot of the tools you were not impressed with need a 3.0AH or better and you only showed them with the 1.5AH. The battery makes all of the difference, The new 5.0AH is great

Thank you Derek for that review as i am a DIY gal and for monetary (or lack of) reasons i went with the Bauer cordless line when replacing the tools i lost in my divorce. He got the expensive stuff (and doesnt even know how to use them) and i got these. I am more than happy with the ones i have but before i invested further in the line i wanted an honest opinion on the rest of them. Thanx for the review its much appreciated, sticking with Bauer because i beat up my tools and these hold up well and preform at a higher level than i even need & have a great price point. Also appreciated your disclosure about the color scheme and your happiness, they make me happy too. ✌🏻

Lesser used tools I've purchased corded though, however I wish I would have purchased the cordless recip saw. I had no idea how much I'd use it on branches and roots and I have a few I can't reach and need another extension cord for. It just works too well on the ones too big for the loppers but too small for the chainsaw.

EXACTLY!!! That’s what the Bauer system was designed for, the average DIY homeowner. These are NOT professional tools, and weren’t meant to be. That being said, I use my Bauer stuff pretty hard and all the different ones I have are working quite well. The plastic is a little alarming initially as you’re inclined to think it will break right away, but from my experience so far they are designed pretty good and tend to beef up the plastic areas accordingly. Anyway, I’m really happy with the Bauer lineup.

To me, it’s like right on the line between homeowner and prosumer. It works for both, I think. More tool than most home owners need, maybe a little less tool than most pros need. Just my opinion. It’s a serious DIYers tool line.

Enjoy your vids... Not sure if you have the hedge trimmers or blower but those are great outdoor tools as well. I have most of the items you listed sans the grinder and 1/2" impact. So I guess I have stayed away from the "bad" so far. I think I will end up with the grinder even with the issues it seems like a good value at $40 or less (with a sale) since I am already in the line and have the batteries. Keep the vids coming!

I don't have the hedge trimmer or blower. I don't have any hedges around me haha but the blower may be on the list to buy in the near future. The 1/2 impact and the grinder are not bad tools. The Impact doesn't live up to its 450ft lb rating. Not even close from what I can tell. But it still definitely can get most of the jobs one especially for a DIY guy. The grinders are a bargain at $40, they just need to pump out a better grinder in the battery platform because these do leave some to be desired.

You know me and my Bauer brother, so if I may make a suggestion. Have you tried a 5ah battery on any one of the tools yet? I was using a 3ah batt on the circ saw doing some repetitive rip cuts, and I ran out of juice. I put a 5ah on it and got the bajesus scared out of me because I wasn’t ready for the noticeable increase in power/torque, it almost got away from me! My son was holding the other end of the board and of course it jumped the rip cut and ran right towards him on top of the board. I stopped it in plenty of time, but lesson learned. The same with the trimmer, chainsaw and limb saw too. They eat the lower ah batteries up! I pretty much only use the small batteries for the 1/2” drill and BT speaker now. I went through two 3ah batteries on one third of my back yard while trimming edges, but after swapping it for a 5ah I was not only able to finish the remainder of the backyard, but the front and side yard too, plus it still had two lights left! As I watched this vid all I could think of was maybe your outlook will be different if you try a 5ah battery, especially on that 1/2” impact. I haven’t found a tough enough nut yet to defeat it. In case I do I also own the corded 110v 1/2” Bauer impact and that thing is a beast! (I found using a 3ah battery on the USB adapter charges my phone x2 as fast as plugging it into the wall too.)
I dunno, just wanted to share what I’ve learned. The 8ah batteries are scheduled to roll out this summer/fall and I know I’ll be grabbing some for sure.
Also if you haven’t yet then you owe it to yourself to check out the bear, he just told of/leaked a few more additions to the Bauer line up! I know I’m excited...

I haven't used the 5 AH on the Bauer Impact. From here on out all I will buy is 3.0 ah and 5.0 ah to replace the batteries as they break. The only Bauer tool I bought so far is the brushless angle grinder and I gotta say, I don't like it. It drains batteries fast and doesn't continue spinning long enough to dissipate the revs, so when I hand tighten grinding wheels, the lockup causes the disc and retainer nut to spin themselves off and go for a quick run. I do love the handle though, it has the spanner wrench inside which is super convenient, I just hate having to use it to put wheels on.

Love the Bauer line I own about half of it myself. It's designed for the diy weekend warriors not contractors. I put it on par with Ryobi, newer Craftsman, Kobalt, and Heart.
I don't have the impact but I do agree with your assessment of it. Quite frankly I get better preformance out of their $10 drillmaster grinder. I'm not impressed with the preformance of the dust buster style vacuum either. After a few uses, it doesn't have the power it did originally.
Every other tool I have works as or better than expected and I'm very happy with the line overall.
I actually love the the air pump. I was going to buy one of the similar as seen on TV ones, then I saw the Bauer one was coming out. The fact that it has a removable battery was a big plus in my book. Better still I was already invested in the platform. I don't regret it at all.
Other top tools I use regularly are the string trimmer, leaf blower, and hammer drill. None of them have let me down. The ripsaw, jigsaw, and circ saw are all really good too.
I'm really interested in the Brad nailer, and dust separator too. They are on my to purchase soon. Also the newly released storage system. All are on my list to buy soon.

The vacuum has been my least favorite Bauer tool too. However, I realized I'm kind of being too tough on it. I use it in the shop and it has to do a lot more. When I brought it home and compared it to my Black & Decker dustbuster side by side performing the same tasks, it performs about the same.
In the shop when you're cleaning up sawdust and concrete dust and similar things, the air filter gets clogged pretty quickly. You have to take the filter apart and clean it regularly to keep it working in those conditions.
The Bauer shop blower is one of my favorite tools, and is practically a requirement to keep that vacuum working. I use it to clean the filter whenever I start losing suction.

I have been ping-ponging between the Bauer and Craftsmen 3/8”, battery impact, I don’t know yet. I’m more a DIYer and automotive repair on the side when I can get the work. I have the Bauer trimmer/edger and blower and the 3 ah battery. The edger part of the trimmer ain’t all that, but it’s okay. I was informed by HF of the plans for a cordless ratchet from Bauer about April next year.

I can't answer that but I honestly doubt it. I think it'll be more of deal where they just give you two offerings. You can either go cheap and get brushed or you can go more expensive and get brushless. I will probably get the brushless for cutting, and keep my brushed for grinding.

First off you’re using the wrong socket to remove the Lugnuts you’re using a impact wobble socket as well as a wheel lock tool which will reduce the amount of torque that has applied to remove the wheel lug nuts.you should be using a shallow 1/2 drive 6 point shallow 22 mm impact socket

    • @DereksWorkshopAndProjects
      @DereksWorkshopAndProjects  2 роки тому +1

That is a completely fair criticism. The footage you watched was literally the only footage I had at the time though I had used it other times. The swivel sockets were on there simply for a video I was paid to make by the swivel socket manufacture. That being said, it has struggled even with just a 6 point deep socket. Still deep, yes. ALL that being said and I have used a 5ah battery on the 2nd generation that I have now and the thing breaks 165ft lbs almost effortlessly. Still going to maintain that this thing will never get 450ft it claims. I don't think so.
