Aaron Shikler is my favourite American painter and the portraits of Pres. Kennedy and the two beautiful portraits of Jackie are breath taking. I have not seen them in "real life" but .... he really captures their spirits in his work! Jockey Club sounds like the scent that I could see Pres. Kennedy wearing and I bet I would love to wear it too.... women, I feel from your description could wear this - especially in the heat!
LadyKoKo B I love those paintings too.. and I seem to recall seeing the one of President Kennedy when I visited the White House 40 years ago. But I may just be thinking I did. LOL ... It is my favorite Presidential portrait.
Lanier, This has been on my "Want" shelf for some time now for the nostalgia and beauty of the bottle....I believe it is time to finally add this! Cheers, D.B./Plat ~
Found a great deal on Jockey Club and I love it too! More bracing than Newport or No. 6 but still that lovely powdery scent. Can't go wrong with these.
Dang it’s $80 now on their site, $60 on Amazon. Crazy jump from $30 nine years ago. Bought some a few days ago though and I love it, along with the jockey club soap they make too which smells great.
I just bought a brand new bottle of Bel Ami from ebay for an absolute pittance. When I went to the mailbox, I saw that it was shipped from San Francisco, and I thought of you - and how your eyes instantaneously light up whenever you say "leather." ;-) You've been missed.
Yummy that cocktail. I love the history of the Kennedy family .great history on Caswell and Massey. Is the jockey club easy to buy.? Would it be available in Australia. It is such a reasonable price and sounds such a classic cologne .
So happy to see you reviewing these classic masculine fragrances that are largely ignored today. Will you be delving into other Caswell & Massey scents like Greenbriar or Newport?
+Lanier Smith Definitely try No.6, seems like the one I would like. If you want to try something really historic try Hungary Water- supposedly from the 1500s.
Lanier Smith Hello again Mr. Smith, I hope you can help me a bit-- I bought a decant sample of Egoiste on ebay for what seemed like a good price, however on getting it it was obviously a non-Chanel product that smelled like something by Nautica. I haven't smelled Egoiste before but have smelled many Chanel and nautica scents. I've contacted the seller for a refund, but could you give me your opinion of Egoiste for comparison? Thanks buddy!
Hey Kevin, If it smells like Nautica you got ripped off. It is bold rich with an animalic side to it. And there are spices in it. In many ways it reminds me of Yatagan by Caron. But much more sophisticated and not a raw. I hope that helps.
You know I can't remember what Clubman smelt like. I do remember as a kid my barber used to put it on everyone at the end of a haircut. And I remember liking it. I am going to have to get a bottle of Pinaud Clubman and revisit it and maybe a review!
Sorry I missed Friday night cocktails...was fast asleep. Anyway, I enjoyed the review along with the history of this Apothecary and fine fragrance. I know it was a favorite of JFK, but Fragrantica list all Caswell and Massey fragrances as being released in 2012. Apparently, they are asleep at the wheel once again.
Jim R I nearly missed it myself. It took all night to load this one up for some reason. Oh well. I think you are right about them being asleep ...or maybe there is another reason Jim.
I am 19 years old, yet I think I can rock the scent pretty well. I have the soap gifted to me by my grandmother. I really like it!
Colin I just saw your comment. Good for you! You are well on your way to being a sophisticated and stylish young Man. Cheers.

Lanier Smith How wonderful to tour the White House .... I am sure the portraits are there.
I so missed those Friday cocktails , please keep those videos coming , cheers
Notes Punch Thank you so very much!
Just discovered No. 6 and Newport and love them both-- Will be getting this one very soon! Just love these old fashioned scents!
+Kevin Mccoy Me too Kevin!!
Lanier,
This has been on my "Want" shelf for some time now for the nostalgia and beauty of the bottle....I believe it is time to finally add this!

David Bray David I think you are right. Time to buy some Caswell and Massey. Cheers!

thank you!
Hey Lanier! Did you get this from the house website? Or discount site?
I love all the history!! I''d not heard of this one here in UK, but it looks similar to our GEO F Trumper which you may be familiar with Lanier?
Pine Rocks Yes I am very famliar with the wonderful British house of Geo. F. Trumper. I have Eucris which I love.
I would love to know which one Edgar Allen Poe wore.
Mario Gomez So would I Mario!!
Lanier this is one of my favorites thanks to your review , I'm loving this perfect gentleman's fragrance !
Bravo Mr. Matt on your excellent taste. Cheers.
thanks Lanier ,Cheers

Bigwave2003 I am curious about the others and I just may try out some of the others. At the price point, why not? Cheers!

You bet! Sounds right up my alley. Cheers!

Never heard of this house before.
wagsbass It Jockey Club is any indication, this is a gem of a house that needs to be mined. Cheers!
Is it close to the Pinaud Clubman scent?
You know I can't remember what Clubman smelt like. I do remember as a kid my barber used to put it on everyone at the end of a haircut. And I remember liking it. I am going to have to get a bottle of Pinaud Clubman and revisit it and maybe a review!
I'd love to see some reviews of the Clubman line, thanks for responding
Hey Tony!! I just ordered a bottle!!!
You won't be disappointed, it'll bring back memories for sure.

Good concise review.
Excellent review, however the name is Caswell-Massey, not Caswell and Massey.
