Sorry Gatton fans, I don't have any more TV footage, nor do I have any material from the concert that followed.
RIP Danny and Elvis.
Danny Gatton probably forgot more than most guitar players will ever know.. absolute genius
Danny's genius was unparalleled...he was the greatest electric guitar player to ever draw breath....we all sure miss your genius Danny.....😏😏
His warm up licks would make most guitarist humble - RIP Danny - you still inspire....
Shout out to the camera man & director for some great footage of not only the band but up close Danny'!
World's best unknown guitarist is a reputation that he certainly deserved
I would love to go back in time to see him live. Absolutely no words to describe how good he was.
Gatton was a monster as a player. Guy could play that rockabilly style guitar like noone else.
Awesome so good
The greatest guitar player most people never heard of. In my book he was A #1 Awesome!
@gwmerr -I met Danny as well at a guitar seminar and you are right-he was a nice guy.I have never forgotten this one guy asking Danny to sign his jean jacket and handing him a magic marker.I figured he'd just quickly scribble something down but no-Danny was a perfectionist. He proceeded to take about 15 minutes to do his whole name in block lettering with 3D shadowing techniques etc. What a trip.It totally blew that guy's mind and I'm sure he treasures that jacket to this day.
He has to be on everyone's list of great guitarists.
Timeless, brilliant, and perfect!
Genius ❤
Best Tele player ever 👌🎼
I was lucky enough to get to know Danny over 4 months in 1979 when he took on some guitar students. Danny was a "down to earth " guy and his unbelievable talent never went to his head. He was called "The Humbler" but he was humble in his manner and just a good hearted soul. He really gave me the ability to break free of bounds I had accepted to the guitar and although I never excelled beyond a journeyman player I know he made a difference for me.
Damn, I wish I’d known about Danny when he was he was alive and pickin’. Mind-blowingly brilliant fretwork.
I saw the Humbler in Berkeley CA. in 1978? with Robt. Gordon. That night changed my life...
On fire man! Simply one of the finest musicains/guitarists on the planet in my humble opinion. Peace.
He was channelling music from divine realms.
I saw him in @ The Rainbow in Ottawa on that tour... it blew me away... I had never seen anything like it (and haven't since).
