I just found this! I and a friend were at this show. We waited around to meet him after the show (just us, and a couple). They got autographs and left. This club had a firm policy of the bar closed at the last note; Danny was out of cigarettes and I had plenty, so he said "Let's go get some beers". I told him about the bar policy and he said "Its not closed for us!" So the three of us sat at the bar about 45 minutes, talked guitars (he told me the story of the copper-penny painted Tele in this video, funny story) Nicest, funniest, and most humble person you'll ever meet. It was like talking with an old friend. And then a year later.... He is missed.
Great story, I was at this show too, he played Graffiti another time, any idea what date/ glad I got to see him twice before he passed, today is his 75th birthday.---RIP---

Danny was lucky to have da best in da business n that's saying a lot - a tight band. I hope you kept notes over da years on your brothers adventures with Danny. Surprise me.
This was 2 weeks before Danny came to Vermont and played on a ferry boat, and I got the chance to meet him: I didn't realize at the time that Roy Buchanan wasn't his favorite topic of discussion, but he was polite and realized I was a fan.
Thank you for this, Sasha. The Humbler? Oh, yes! He thought that was funny, but it actually embarrassed him. But as anyone who spent time with Danny can tell you, he was a truly humble man who put everyone around him at ease. With his otherworldly talent, that also was a genuine talent in and of itself. He is missed by so very many people, and will never be forgotten....
I remember this show. This was the second time Danny played in Pittsburgh. The first time was in 1991 and what an incredible show that was! Every show was an Awesome experience. Thanks for sharing this footage.
Just when you think you've hit the limit another video comes along. My god this band is just incredible, Danny really cooks when he's playing with top players. Thanks for the upload.
Thank you for sharing. Danny is always worth watching, Always... He called me Baby Brother once at Giant Sound Ctr in Falls Church, (my oldest brother worked there) He would rock up the store when he tired out a new guitar or amp. He played effortlessly, and to perfection.
Go Directly to 12:17.... if you please or remain unconvinced...Super footage and LIVE sound of the band on a super hot night and Danny.... I missed this show because i had moved from Western pa to the east but love the video. Gatton is another amazing musician who left us too soon. Thanks for sharing this awesome footage.
My first exposure to him was the last (I think) show of the Robert Gordon tour in Boston. I was maybe 12 feet from the stage. I stared at his '53 sitting on a guitar stand for the half hour before the show thinking "This might be good." A life-changing experience is the best way I can describe it.
Who ever is responsible for the sound on this (always worth a look) Danny Gatton band got the best "Right There" live sound I think I've ever heard on You-Tube.
Much gratitude - most important aspect of filming is da Sound. That's why Sony adds a little hole (mini stereo plug) on the side of da camcorder. That's how to get that stage tone, where da drums sound like drums. Very hard to get the real sound n tone through the board. Danny was one of a kind human being - He just wanted to play his guitar n his fans came first - too bad he got caught up in that corporate racket, where they want your Soul.
This is great footage... much appreciated! Would love to see more if available... Danny truly was 'The Humbler' and in the words of Guitar Player magazine... 'the worlds greatest unknown guitarist'... if not the overall greatest ever, even though I don't really believe in those labels. He was certainly way up high in that subjective list. Again... thank you!

Very true of what you said - I did not even want to list it as one of the tunes but like wow, Danny sure knows how to put icing on the cake - He is the Master at improvising, without losing the originality of the song. You have to study n reflect on every lick n trick n he's got plenty of fire power.

I love seeing people do what they love and utilizing their craft. The guitar inspires me to express my self and sometimes it gives me closure. The thing that Danny did was allow himself to expand beyond the rules of what guitar players have unspokenly Sat and created something he can call his own.
