Getting an El Maya 335 on Friday and was thinking of replacing the pickups with some Pure PAFs... this video makes me think that'll be a good idea... really nice tone and playing...
Lindy Pure Paf sound absolutely fantastic, although they are not as rocky as Gibson 57 or Burstbuckers or 489. The output is lower as Gibson. If you love ACDC or hard rocking distorted Guitars I wouldn't go for Fralin. Franlin Pure Paf is fine creamy , even jazzy tone for fine guitar playing. Lindy is world class. cheers B
In my experience SGs require something a little hotter, in the absence of a thick block of wood to darken and add body. I have OX4 low wind in my R7LP, vintage output Lollar p90s in my R7 LP Special, 7.8-8.2k Lindy Pure PAF in my 335. For an SG I would run high 7 neck, mid 8 bridge to keep it in the PAF ballpark but all the bite an SG’s known for.
Came for the pickups, stayed for the music. That's one tasty dish.
