Fralin Pure PAF set played next to Bare Knuckle Mules
Fralin Set: Alnico 2 - 7.8k neck and 8.2k bridge
Bare Knuckle - Alnico 4 - 7.3k neck and 8.4k bridge
Lick 1 - full guitar volume
Lick 2 - guitar volume 4
Lick 3 - guitar volume 7
lick 4 - full guitar volume
Played the same licks as close as possible. Pickups loaded into the same guitar, with the same amp on the same exact settings. 1 close mic only. Reverb from logic.
The height of the pickups is relative the same. The pole screws were adjusted to taste.
RS Guitarworks electronics in my guitar. EQcable cables being used.
Fralins really impressed me here. I’ve always discounted them as lindy is such. Single coil guy but these sound killer here.

Awesome!!! I liked both. The bare knuckle seem just a little brighter and open, maybe because they don’t have a pickup cover, I like that in humbuckers because I can always roll off a little tone...

Mules sound better to me. Last lick really demonstrates that.
I use RS True 60s, wound by Lindy, in my R9 and in a Workhorse built by RS. Their wiring in both guitars. I love em.
The Fralins, especially the neck, sounded warmer than the Mules you compared. I’m sure a knob tweak could make them indistinguishable.

Perfect. Brian’s a small fish in a big pond but he really does have the mojo. I have a Vintage Tele Bridge Porter pickup that needs a home. I’ll be ordering a companion neck from him soon and getting my buddy to build me a Blackguard for them.
I dig the sparkle and articulation of the Fralins.however there is something to like in both depends what a person is looking for. I would love to see you demo fralin split blade pickups
