  • When I first visited St. Petersburg, I fell in love with this city.
I invite you to a virtual walk through the most famous park of this city. It’s Sunday in the video, and you can see how residents of St. Petersburg spend their days off.
The 300th Anniversary Park of St. Petersburg is a cherished gem for both residents and visitors of the Northern capital, commemorating the city's rich history. Nestled along the scenic Gulf of Finland coastline, this picturesque green sanctuary, though relatively new, has already earned a special place in the hearts of many as a beloved meeting spot and leisure destination.
Within the park, several notable landmarks beckon. Among them stands a monument to the renowned Venezuelan revolutionary, Francisco de Miranda, who once graced Russia and had a personal encounter with Catherine II, who bestowed upon him the esteemed title of colonel in the Russian army. This monument was a generous gift to the city from then-Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez. As is often the case with popular lore, this monument is believed to bring good fortune to newlyweds. To attain marital bliss, it is customary to rub the left shoe of the statue.
Another prominent feature within the park is a granite pillar fashioned as a lighthouse, divided into three tiers, symbolizing the three centuries of St. Petersburg's illustrious history.
Covering nearly 55 hectares, the park boasts a variety of flora, including valuable tree species and vibrant flower beds that bloom afresh each year. The park's amenities include a swimming pool, fountains, and dining facilities, providing a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
For those who relish active pursuits, the park offers plenty of options. In summer, visitors can partake in volleyball, cycling, roller skating, and skateboarding along well-maintained pathways. Playground areas are thoughtfully provided for families with young children. In winter, skiing is a popular pastime, while children delight in sledding down icy slopes and riding makeshift sleds.
For those who require internet connectivity, the park offers complimentary Wi-Fi access throughout its expanse.
The park's standout attraction, undoubtedly, is its sandy beach. Though swimming is not permitted, visitors can bask in the sun and enjoy picnics on hot summer days. The beach also offers a splendid vista of the bay, making it an ideal setting for romantic strolls, though it can get chilly in windy weather, necessitating warmer attire or a jacket.
Throughout the year, the park hosts an array of entertainment programs, including celebrations for Victory Day, Children's Day, Maslenitsa, Navy Day, and more. The park's versatile terrain accommodates children's parties and themed workshops. Musical concerts featuring both domestic and international artists are a regular occurrence, and there's even a venue for sporting events.
The park occasionally hosts spectacular events like airshows as part of patriotic gatherings or the annual kite festival, Fly Easy! Most events within the park are open to the public, although during paid events, access to certain areas may be limited. Information about upcoming festivals and events can be found on the city's promotional websites.
Saint Petersburg's 300th Anniversary Park is an integral part of city tours, inviting all to explore its beauty and rich history."
