  • As a woodturning beginner, I thought I'd document my attempt to make a chess set. In this episode, I make a knight.
My thanks to all of you who posted a woodturning video. I have learned an enormous amount from watching all of you!

I really appreciate the short versions as I don't always have a lot of time for video watching. These chess pieces look fantastic.

hey there! you made a great figure, but I'm interested in how the head with the drill is fixed.. I have the same small lathe and everything is very similar to yours, but I want to make a drill head like the one you used when drilling the hole.. I saw that the part that goes in is in a cone.. but how is it secured so that it does not rotate while drilling the hole?

That is one big knight! I need to make 4 of them way smaller. My pawns are 15/8" tall.

    Hi,
Can you tell me what size screw you ended up using for mounting the pieces to you faceplate jog? You mentioned that you were using a 1/8” countersink bit. Did that change when you upgraded the woodscrew size?
    Thanks for your help
Do u have an IG account as well?
