- A quick trip from the Newport Boat Show to Warwick, RI with the Jeanneau Yacht 51 & 54. Glenn and I bring the boats back ahead of Hurricane Jose. Motorsailing over 10 kts medium RPM and sailing about 8 kts with just under 11 kts wind. Somewhat slack tide. Off the docks from a tight slip, setting sails, furling sails, docking in a slip (with guys on the dock) all singlehanded.
I love the port side toilet cushion. If you gotta go, you don't even have to let go of the wheel. I'm sold.
Outstanding video. Really gave me a feel for handling the yacht.
Jeeeeeez made that look so easy. As it should be!
thanks for the video!
The idea for the video is great. It is a pity you did not have more cameras (or a cameraman) set up. That would have helped illustrate the operation of sails much better.
Can you honestly claim single-handed when there are two or three guys to catch mooring lines?
Recommend you clean up all the spaghetti from an evolution before starting another one.
You make it look really difficult to sail that boat single-handed.
Spaghetti!
Why do you have the bow thruster on when you are going straight?
Larry Hankamer I assume you are either being sarcastic, considering your previous comment, or your understanding of sailing limited. He turns on the power to the bow thruster and checks that it works before he arrives and starts the manoeuvre, he would look very silly if while turning and needing assistance from the thruster it failed to work.
Before he makes his approach, he should check his "backing bell" (reverse gear) as well.
