I am currently using a Yakima Forklift with a Yakima Forklift Thru-Axle attachment. It honestly has been moving when driving and I am so anxious it is going to fall off my roof on the freeway. This seems far more practical. Definitely going to buy this for my 2021 Stumpjumper. Thanks for the video - you should be compensated for my purchase lol
On the off chance you'lll see this - does the spoiler clear the back wheel when you open the tailgate? I have a Focus RS and want to get the same setup - Thule bars etc. My Santa Cruz Tallboy is pretty long with the 29's and steep HTA. My biggest question though is this - do you still drive fast and corner had with it on, and if so, have you had any issues when it was properly secured? I'm tempted to put a hitch on it and use my hitch bike rack for that reason
@@Wallstreetavarice it barely touches the back wheel (depending on your bike size, I was medium 29er). Just let it softly open at the end then you should be good. I was pretty good about checking. As far as driving aggressively I had no issues. I wasn’t going crazy when it was on, but I did have my fun. Anything under 80 or 90 you are fine for sure, over that you may have to be alert for drag but again this thing is pretty secure. IF I could rebuy, then I would have gone hitch. Then you only have to worry about who is behind you.
@@ghouse23 Thanks for the advice! I have a Large 29er so It will probably touch, but that just means I'll make sure to load/unload first. I'm still unsure if I'll keep the car long term - otherwise I would definitely go with the hitch. I already picked up a used roof rack for the snowboard season, so going with the roof mount is a significantly cheaper option.
@@ghouse23 lol i think i bought your car 🤣 Im trying to take it off because i need to add a rack. The bolts on the top one is so rusty i cant take it off and the ones on the back just keep spinning
Do you have any issues with your roof rack leaking when it’s raining ? I’m looking into a roof rack for my Focus ST but I’ve heard it can leak since the brackets go into the door
Its just balanced on the roof rack. If I push it on the side it will tip over without the thru-axle holding it down. One time though, I parked on a slight incline and took out the axle and my bike tipped over onto my roof and made a small little dent, I was bummed but learned my lesson haha.
@@ghouse23 i got you! Also, does it ever get loose? i keep tightening the front allen screw when i get home because my bike moves around when i get home.

This is good to see! I'm currently shopping for a bike carrier for my new Epic Evo i got and I'm glad Kuat has stuff included for the thru-axle crowd.

Nice set up. thanks for sharing
Hi where did you buy it? Can’t seem to find it in UK? Thanks for sharing!
I got it from Outdoorplay.com but it looks like they dont have it there anymore, hopefully you can find some luck and grab one! cheers
Can this bike rack clamp onto any crossbars?
What brand of roof rack and bike rack did you buy?
Roof rack is Yakima Corebar system and the bike rack is the Kuat Trio

I have had this rack on my old focus and now this one for a long time, no leaks.
@@ghouse23 that’s good to know
How did your fork stayed on when you removed the axle?
