At the top, we went left this time at the stairs and followed that. Much easier to pedal instead of all the hike a bike. There were still some parts we had to walk though. First time riding in NC. This is day one at Pisgah National Forest 4/17/19: We camped along avery creek road arriving at 430am lol. Took a nap and at like 11am we started the sit and spin from behind the stables. Unboxing the 2019 YT Jeffsy AL Base 29er medium in concrete grey. It was very easy and it's pretty much just taking off tons of cardboard and foam wrap which is packaged very well. They did a great job, the bike is ready to ride. I went kind of slow to read instructions and not mess anything up as I have a tendency to rush and make mistakes sometimes. I cant wait to go ride it. On the off chance you'lll see this - does the spoiler clear the back wheel when you open the tailgate? I have a Focus RS and want to get the same setup - Thule bars etc. My Santa Cruz Tallboy is pretty long with the 29's and steep HTA. My biggest question though is this - do you still drive fast and corner had with it on, and if so, have you had any issues when it was properly secured? I'm tempted to put a hitch on it and use my hitch bike rack for that reason

    • @ghouse23
      @ghouse23 2 місяці тому

      @@Wallstreetavarice it barely touches the back wheel (depending on your bike size, I was medium 29er). Just let it softly open at the end then you should be good. I was pretty good about checking. As far as driving aggressively I had no issues. I wasn’t going crazy when it was on, but I did have my fun. Anything under 80 or 90 you are fine for sure, over that you may have to be alert for drag but again this thing is pretty secure. IF I could rebuy, then I would have gone hitch. Then you only have to worry about who is behind you.

      @@ghouse23 Thanks for the advice! I have a Large 29er so It will probably touch, but that just means I'll make sure to load/unload first. I'm still unsure if I'll keep the car long term - otherwise I would definitely go with the hitch. I already picked up a used roof rack for the snowboard season, so going with the roof mount is a significantly cheaper option.

    Don't waste your money with that overpriced Dumond crap. Use Synthetic 10w30 oil. Lasts so much longer and protects waaaaaaaay better. Protecting a freehub is like baby work for synthetic 10w30 since it's designed to protect extremely low tolerance internal engine components in much, and I mean MUCH harsher conditions! Also, put a small amount of grease on the seal only once you've installed oil to keep moisture out as much as possible. Do not use waterproof grease.

    • @ghouse23

      Trail Lady MTB to be honest the 27.5 was out of stock in medium and only available in large. So i decided 29 cause the medium was available. This model only came with the fox components. I think the previous year model comp was rockshox, it wouldn’t let me choose though.

      No problem! I got the 29er cause they didnt have the 27.5 in medium which is what i usually ride. I havent been able to take it to trails yet its all snowy and icey right now, but in my experience with 29ers they do roll slightly faster and easier over tech and stuff. But the the 27.5 is a tad smaller and more nimble and easier to play with. I feel these are both negligible in comparison and shouldnt be a huge factor but i think ill be ok on the 29er. I went medium frame, im like 5-10. Inital ride around the block was awesome but again, not a trail so hard to testify.
