Problem is you used too large diameter pipe for rollus and PVC will offgas and degrade the poly wrapped around it - in one season. Then the PVC will become brittle after a season of exposure to sun/cold and will break. Use 1-1/3in metal fence top railwith assuaged ends and your rollups will last for 10+ years.
I'm doing this exact thing on a coop i just built. using a tarp instead. I was thinking of using 2-10ft pvc pipe with a cuppler in middle to make it 20ft long since my coop 20ft long. Then have a hanger up top to set the pvc in for roll up sides. but went to youtube to see what everyone else is doing. My coop is 20ftx10ft.
another page i follow "SSL Family dad" did a hoop house inside a hoop house, and he made a pvc handle to roll up the whole length by himself and just has a rope for the top position and bottom is the bottom of the roll.
Does the creek flood? Are you aware pvc pipe reacts with the plastic and will break down the plastic voiding warranty? Use spray paint made for plastic to coat your pvc or better Call you dealer on what to do.
I love it. We have an old greenhouse behind our church we're trying to convert to a hoop house and what you did looks great. I may have missed it in the video, but what size pvc pipe are you using or it does it matter?
I have to ask, are you going to raise the sides to gain excess to the inside or allow ventilation to occur? You may wish to consider to cut the side in half for an easier access or lift it up to allow the above suggestions. If you do you would want to have a rope on the ends like a blind where by you can pull up or down on. You can have a wooden end so that your PVC pipe won't break, chip or deteriorate with age. You are close to the creek on that one side, so you mush be prepare for flooding, which will damage your wooden structure. :-)
It seems to me that your conduit is to long for rolling...meaning that you have to lift it all the way up then roll up the plastic to the desired height...cut conduit shorter that may work better?
Technically, no. I think a greenhouse is really something you plan to heat all winter long. A hoop house is something to just extend the growing season. Don't quote me on that.

Is that true with the grey electrical plastic conduit too?
You all put some thoughts and efforts in this. Works great, i liked that it was cost efficient. Great idea. 👍👍👍
Thanks Dean!

It wasn’t pvc but was 1/2 metal conduit

The sides are just for ventilation. We have welded wire behind the plastic to keep the critters out.
Put a few ropes across the top and it will tighten the plastic. looks good
So many things here. 😳

I need the conduit that high to hold the roll up that high.
Is an hoop house the same thing as a green house?
