Returned my 7 Pro for a 7. The size and flat display is highly desirable.
Same here! Coming from a 6 I thought 7pro would be awesome.. and it was... But the rounded screen I could not live with! Hard to find cases with decent side protection & screen protectors either suck or 50$ a pop
I’m about to do the same 😂
Did the same
I am hearing that P7 has got some heating and battery drain issue? Did you face any such issues??
@@gopikarajan4932 My P7 runs cooler than the pro did.
Jumped from the Pixel 5 to the Pixel 7. Loving it so far but the form factor and finish of the 5 holds a special place in my heart.
Did you consider the 7 pro? I have the 5 and want telephoto but wary of 7 pro size
I just sold my pixel 5 today. Perfect size for a phone. I wish the new pixel would come in this size going forward. If they had a pixel mini I will probably pick one up in the future maybe two years after this contract's finished
@@dct1 No, I felt it was too big and didn't really need the third camera.
The Pixel 5 is amazing. The back fingerprint scanner got me through covid smoothly.
@@dct1 I went from a Pixel 5 to a Pixel 7 Pro. I love the bigger screen. I have no problem with bigger phones because I have big hands.
Hey thanks for the video and reviewing the regular seven not the seven pro which every other reviewer is looking at and I have to say as a former pixel 6 owner the seven is definitely a step up in the screen ,fingerprint ,the face unlock and I really like the size of this seven it's a lot more manageable. The six always felt kind of chunky and too big for the pockets, but the seven is a much more manageable size. For me I think the only thing I wish they would make a little bit better is the speakers as I listen to podcasts in the morning getting ready for work I wish it was louder.
It might suck but you will be better off getting pixel buds ro listen to your music and podcasts
I agree. I upgraded from a Pixel 2 and that had much better speakers surprisingly. everything else is great about the 7 though.
@@HalcyonEX yeah, do they work in the shower when I'm getting ready?
@@DeShark88 I wouldn't take them to the shower they are rated for workouts and stuff like when you got them in and you sweat alot but getting them near drenched they MIGHT be ok but I would press the flesh on that one personally u less you got the disposable income to get another pair if those mess up
@@DeShark88 since most phones are completely waterproof I just bring my phone into shower and prop up on shower caddy
90hz is perfect for many of us who don't game on our phones.
its perfect even for gamers, 120hz and gaming drains battery so quickly and it makes the phone overheat, so 90hz is just perfectly balanced
I wish we had more vibrant colors this time. the lemongrass is too close to the white for me. I would have loved a coral or maybe even a lovely blue
90hz is perfectly fine especially for the price. Eyes cant really see the difference between 90 and 120 anyway
So if you play game on 90hz and 144hz its the same? Xd
Why yall posting bs like you know stuff
@@Milic97sell its a 6 inch mobile phone screen pal, not a gaming PC! Think before you speak!
@@Gamer_85 facepalm
@@Gamer_85 not a monitor* ;)
Agree to disagree 😂
I'm currently testing pixel 7 pro and I absolutely love the video performance and colour accuracy. Pixel 7 seems like a great value for money device ☺️
What about battery life
@@lalangupta1824 it's way better than s22 ultra which I'm currently using.
Tested P3 and P7 cameras side by side. The front-facing camera on P3 is way superior to P7 (skin tone is more accurate and WAY SHARPER in low light) the back camera system is slightly better on P7 in low light. Still stuggling if I should keep the P7 as I feel it's a minor upgrade; I skipped the P 4, 5, 6 as they didn't bring much to justify the upgrade. The modem in P7 works well and the connectivity is strong (given the Samsung modem). I was able to get signal in places where P3 did not. The phone runs a bit hot and the battery does not have pull tabs anymore... The 90 Hz refresh rate is OK but P3 feels snappier since the screen is smaller and the colors are richer on P3.
My dear old P3 XL went away as a $275 trade-in payment. I got the P7. My P3 XL rear camera stopped working, IDK why. Everything else was still in perfect conditions. I skipped 4 because I lost a good deal, 5 because it sucked, and 6 because too expensive, too buggy
@@unloveableandre I've just sent off my pixel 4 for the trade in. Pixel 7 is great, I don't regret buying it. The 4 was fine if you could get to a charger multiple times a day!
I love my pixel 7. I was worried about the size coming from a pixel 5 but it's perfect. Great phone
Which colour you bought
nervous to go to the 7 from the 5 myself. Have you ever held the 3a? And if so would you say its close to that size? The P5 with a case is already a little to wide for my comfort. It almost makes me want to wait to see if they make a smaller P8.
@@mackmccord3743 my partner had the 3A wouldn't say it feels like that. The only difference I notice is the weight the P5 was perfect in weight the P7 is heavier because of its glass back. You get used to it tho
@@CCFC_86 ok that's good to know. Just wish they had a premium version like the P7P. But smaller than the P5...
I think google is waiting for Tensor to be powerfull enough to handle the processing of the 50 Mpx images. On iphone 14 pro you can only use the 48 mpx in raw images (I think)
I got the Pixel 7 and I love it. It is definitely a premium feeling device and for the price it feels like a steal.
Which colour you got
Just took the plunge and received mine today after hearing so many scary stories about signal strength and all sorts. So glad I got it, just after a phone that works. Come to the realisation not all phones are 100% perfect. Just does the job, I’m expecting some bugs but it’s useable. Great vid btw
No connectivity issues?
@@mynamesnotimportant6941 yes, they fixed the modem!
Connectivity issues for the Pixel 7? The Pixel 6 had issues last year but for the new one, I haven't heard anything regarding connectivity issues.
I still think it’s too big. Plus I have zero interest in missing out on a tele lens. So it’s another skip for me, unfortunately. So disappointing.
Looking forward to impressions of the 7 pro. That's where I'm leaning
Hey! There's often another issue overlooked by reviewers. It is its 5G and 4G connectivity. Google has actually artificially blocked the phone from connecting 5G networks abroad, in countries they say they don't support. We know this because a simple root and module/patch actually allows the phone to connect to all 5G networks globally. Its not a big deal if you do not do much travelling, but if you travell a lot, it becomes extremely problematic. It has been the same with all pixel 5g phones.
It's "overlooked" because without travelling for my review outside of the UK I would not know this. So to call it "overlooked" is a bit harsh and quite dismissive. Also a root patch is going to be out of the realm of most people. Heck I stopped rooting and modding about 4 years ago and I did it religiously until S7 series.
Hi. What screen protector are you using?
I am using it for 3 days and I am really so disappointed again with the battery. Today's battery came below 10% after less than 6hr uses. most of the time I used maps 1 hr,13. Pokemon go 1 hr.
camera 29 min messenger 1 hr, 52 min. chrome 33 min. Instagram and Facebook for around 33 min.
I don't bite on Samsung processor using Samsung Modem ! No thanks
I'm loving my 7 the minor changes have actually been noticable for me it feels nice
It is very earth shattering though. iPhone never has any risks in design. I love the bar it is great. Not a fan of the gold but it works like brass. My world would evolve if a phone was weathered brushed metal or brass that has slight prism feel, like a sleek gentleman look. The same is very retro but could be darker. ❤still like it though. 👀
Returned mine. Too big, the fingerprint scanner is awkward, call audio cut out frequently and it ran too hot too easily. Also, the gesture controls are horrible.
The wide angle on the pixel looks like CRAP. Both video and photo. It's almost unusable for video. Google you better fix this shit. Lots of noise and low-quality video omg I can't even believe no one is talking about this. I shoot video all the time on my Samsung S21 Ultra and its way better than my pixel 7pro. SAD.
The Pixel 7 looks great but I wish Google gave us more color options. One great thing about iPhones are multiple colors. I’m surprised no phone manufacturers have thought to let the user customize the color and texture of their phones. I understand it would delay the ordering process but it would be nice to do a red Pixel or a blue one. And hopefully Google has worked out all the bugs and issues from last year.
The moto x had a website to design your own custum phone color and back color or material. it was pretty dope!
had the 7pro, but I only found one charger that worked. Also it could not charge in cars, trains, airports. And the worst part: forget borrowing a charger, it wont work. Battery packs also didnt work. So I returned the phone an got a refund. Google don't consider it to be a problem... I do, its a huge problem. The camera was fantastic!! but no power means no pictures... it becomes a useless brick...
Hope that Google will change its design language for the next Pixel 8 series and bring back the so marvellous "Oh so orange" mat finish colour 🧡 since their most beautiful Pixels so far are the Pixel 4 and 4 XL in that awesome colour 👌
Anyone concerned about pixel 7 raw power don't be. It's way more than enough for the next few years.
This is the best Android phone I've ever used. Software, camera, battery and general usability, it's a pleasure to use. Just the right balance of everything I reckon.
Yes the flat display is the selling point for me!! I am surprised as to how many review channels of phones also prefer it.
I have had a Galaxy S10+ for the last 3 and a half years and the biggest downside is the curved screen. It has made me decide that when I do EVENTUALLY upgrade, it will not be to a pro or ultra phone simply because the curved screens are my biggest peeve.
Same here. Curved display used to be good for aesthetic reasons only, but today, not even that, they look awlful.
My pixel 6 I didn't have any fingerprint scanner problems but it's been bad on my 7 so I don't know what's going on here 🤷🏼♂️
I have found the Pixel 7 not to be as smooth and studded free as expected. I’m going to try the Pixel 7 Pro instead to see if the extra RAM and 120hz resolves it.
It's all about software optimalization. We need to wait for the software update
Discovering Damien Wilde has his own YT channel is a great find. Enjoyed this vid on the why to get the Pixel 7 and explaining Google hardware details that most users may not appreciate or know about especially those new to the Pixel ecosystem. Example, on why benchmarks don't tell the actual full story especially when it comes to the Pixel series and Google's unique version on ambient computing. Good to see reviews on the Pixel series where the creator knows about the hardware history. It makes a big difference and it's appreciated.
Would love your review/perspective on the 7 Pro especially after having used the 7. My 7 Pro pre-order only arrived yesterday and looking forward to some fun street photography à la #TeamPixel and NGL.
I really love all the fun Pixel-only features! I do find the 7 Pro 'feels' lighter and thinner than my 6 Pro. The curved display on the 6 Pro never bothered me. I mean I never even paid attention to it in a negative light. With the 7 Pro I can't see or feel that the edges are curved. I really love how it feels to hold the 7 Pro. It just seems so much easier to hold compared to the 6 Pro.
I'm only into Pokemon Games so I wanna know how does Pokemon Unite work set on highest graphics on Pixel 7 as I'm getting it in Jan
Bro does pixel 7 really have 50mp ? Plz check ur captured image details still have 12.5 mp is there
The sensor is 50 MP but it’s binning the pixels for a smoother 12MP shot and better zoom capabilities, more megapixels doesn’t mean a better photo 12MP is already 1080p and the phone can shoot at 4k but that isn’t the default.
it's a really great phone & price same last year
i fell it's Pixel 6 (2022 but not ) with out bug , issues , problems
Android auto keeps disconnecting on my pixel 7. It was fine using my previous phone with the same car and cable. I have tried clearing app cache but it's not helped.
That's odd. Sadly I don't have a (working) car so can't really help!
@@DamienWilde Looks like all models of Pixels have had issues with Android Auto which is most puzzling since its obviously a Google app. I have ordered an Anker USB cable which a lot of people say helps. I'll report back if that's the case .... or not !
How green is the lemon grass? It keeps looking white, and white keeps looking lemon grass. I bought the lemon grass but plan to get the caseology athlex case, but dunno if I should get the black plus green or black plus white. You know the ones I'm talking about. Which matches the champagne gold?
It's the camera colors that's messing the actual phone colors up. The camera has a warmer feel to it
The best thing is to buy a transparent case when buying a colorful smartphone it's what I've done when replacing my black Pixel 3 for a OnePlus 10 Pro Emerald Forest green 💚
Encased clear, Tech21 Evo clear, Ringke Fusion, Incipio Dual clear, Mous Clarity are the cases you should consider to buy to show your lemon grass Pixel 7 off 😎🤓
I got the 7 pro coming from the Pixel 5 and I really like the size, the 5 was way too small for my hands
the reason for the camera bar being aluminum is for the modem signal. it boosts signal, hence its so good now.
Plus the aluminium bar can reduce the chance of camera flares etc
People have been complaining about the video conferencing quality of their google phones for years. Poor quality of Video calls on the Pixel 7 as well. It's very grainy and choppy. Especially on Google Duo which is Google's own video calling app. Its same problem for WhatsApp and Zoom. This is not mentioned in any of the reviews. Please let’s make it appear. I don't think your reviews are objective.
Define for me the word "objective" interested to hear what you learn there given that a review is a personal use-case account with thoughts on the strengths and weaknesses of something. Accounting for every single minute detail is not possible in most reviews nor is it fair to tar me with that brush.
Here's an example of what you seem to want: www.theverge.com/2015/10/28/9626400/objective-android-phone-review-no-apple-bias - as you can see, it's merely a list of specs.
I've been complaining about shithouse commenters and the quality of their messages. Let's be better at commenting, shall we?
totally agree - I really hope they add a 50mp pro mode to the camera. such a waste of the new sensor, especially for those of us who want to print our photos. Great review :)
Anyone else's video call quality (e.g. whatsapp) poor quality? Nowhere near as good as my previous pixel 3.
Ngl I kinda wish they copied the apple dynamic land thing on the notch.
And google has a hole punch notch which will probably be easier to display stuff on
I currently use the iPhone 12 Pro Max and looking to upgrade, looking at getting the pixel 7 or pixel 7 pro
Interesting phone and a looker, could be tempted by one but does anyone know if the 7 pro has a 512gb version for the UK? Can't seem to find one to buy sim free.
i didn't find it too different from the pixel 6 but i was able to trade in my galaxy s7 edge for $700 off so i figured why not.
The 7 Pro is better then the 6's but still can't run Genshin smoothly, there are far too many dropped frames and it gets warm.
Still no true tone or eye comfort shield equivalent from Google...meh.
1:30 I think Google should have used the same design for the cameras on the Pixel 7 Pro, with a longer pill instead of a pill and a circle.
did you try the speech recognition or google translator (better options only for pixel).?
Gaming seems fine genshing on highest Diablo on the highest settings. Besides tablets no phone is able to play the highest graphics. So u can play the best settings in the game. No issues. Also tensor 2 is more about the smartest then the power it has more cores better AI. But there needs to be a difference between the pro and regular if u put a third camera 120hrz screen then there isn't a need for the pro correct? Yes.
Got it yesterday and I really love it.
But I can't ignore that it has one of the worst selfie camera in video calls or social apps if the lighting is not good. Its almost like a phone from 2013
Wow WOW WOW.... 9 to 5 Google Guy has his own UA-cam channel?!? 🤯 Had no idea.
Wish pixel 7 had a good LTPO pannel where the screen fps drops to 10 Hz than just 60-90
After one day with the 7pro it’s very basic. Samsung is my android of choice
Choose like me Chinese smartphones I went from a Pixel 3 to a OnePlus 10 Pro 😉
And avoid Samsung they are just good for component parts (camera sensor, Amoled screen, ram and storage chips etc...)
The Oppo Find X5 Pro is a good option as a photophone or the Vivo X80 Pro 👌
So is it worth upgrading from the Pixel 6? $100, basically unlocked from Google with the trade in.
I think so but I can't make that decision for you!
I don't like the bottom frame and battery life. Tensor 1 and 2 runs hot, thanks Samsung.
Finally got mines 😀
Great review, thanks a lot! I like your approach of doing a more personal and "realistic" review that doesn't just focus on numbers and specs but rather the general experience of an average user. Cheers!
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed :)
Are they gonna release 7a ???
In June 2023 😉👍
Killing dogs for food isn’t abuse - lol
It's $0 upgrade with trade in, so yes
The fingerprint sensor is still garbage.
That one is lemon grass? Are you sure?
I currently have the Pixel 7 and the 7 pro and I'm keeping the regular 7 since i think there's such a small difference between those two. I also tried out both the Pixel 6 and the 6 pro and thought the difference was bigger between the two models of last year and then kept the pro model.
hi mate, how does the pixel 6pro compare to the pixel 7? im torn between the 2 which one i should get. TIA 👍
Fort the same price what would you recommend, regular Pixel 7 or Pixel 6 Pro? Looking to get my first Pixel device ever.
I have a similar dilemma, the thing that might sway me to the 7 is the face unlock, I do like that feature, it's not on the 6pro etc, the 7 will get a year extra updates to, but it's a tough call to be honest, but I am definitely swaying towards the pixel 7.
Very informative overview, Damien. Keep up the great job.
best buy taking their damn time shipping with mine.
Using a 7 right now. Works just so good!
battery life, any heating issues, screen on time?
@@jagvirsinghmondair2326 Gotta be honest here. The phone heats up while charging. I am using a 20W Anker PD adapter. You could maybe use a better one and see for yourself. Battery life is good, however! I get about 17-18 hours out of one single charge on a good day. Although I don't play games at all on my phone.
@@ugottabekiddin_ What's battery life like on mobile data? The Pixel 6 battery life on mobile data is woeful, even at idle.
had my 7 for a week now, I've had Samsungs for years. I must say so far, I am really pleased I purchased it, even got the buds pro for free. I recommend the phone.
How did you get the buds free?
The phone is downloading at 5g speeds but only shows 4g, on EE , finger print unlock still bad
Interesting. Alot of reviewers say it's pretty fast, almost like Samsung. Our neighbors were showing me theirs and it's a huge improvement from the 6.
Can you please bring attention to how the edges are blurred when taking photos of documents / text?
That is a feature of having the larger camera sensor in the P6 and P7 series. It creates better depth of field and natural blur by having a narrower focal region.
It does have its drawbacks when trying to focus entirely on one flat plane, e.g. a document, but this can be easily overcome by moving the phone further away and manually zooming back in on the subject.
I have same color 7 ❤🔥
But now watching this video on my 14 pro max 😅
I have iPhone 11 Pro Max debating stick to iPhone 11 or get pics 7 pro 😂
Which screen protector are you using? My random Amazon screen protector screws the fingerprint scanner hard. So would replace it if you can inform me. 😎
In description. Cheap but works well in my experience
@@DamienWilde Oh yea. Oops. Thanks for replying 😊
Excellent video thank you 👍🙂
Hi Damien,
Compared to the Pixel 6, does the 7 have a better SOT?
What screen protector are you using?
were the connectivity issues reported in p6 and p6 pro resolved in p7 series?
Yes
That KEYBOARD my man!
The over processing and sharpening of Human subjects in photos has been an issue since pixel 6 and not resolved in pixel 7 as well. On portrait mode its even more visible.
Had this phone a week now and tbh I'm not that impressed, the signal is not great at all which is so annoying, it has no music player and it also has no gallery which again is so annoying.
this or 6 pro?
Too big.

Yes

Why do they advertise 30w charging and then just deliver 20w? That's ridiculous.
Can you use stylus on Pixel 7?
You can use a stylus on any smartphone..
@@Jupiter2ignite Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe stylus does not work on S22 and S22plus
@@Ik-hs6sy why wouldn't it. You can use a generic stylus with any device that has a screen lol

Love the Pixel7 ❤️
Totally disagree hate small phones
Google compromised too much on the camera for pixel 7.
Used older ultra wide angle lens 114 degrees vs 127 degrees with focus and macro mode on newer lens.
No telephoto lens of any sorts.
Feels like it's pixel 6s rather than pixel 7.
Pixel is 💩 a dumbed down Android 😂
13 (T1B2.220916.004) Pixel 6 pro has the option to set up face unlock from pixel tips section. When I try and set it up it loops around to the screen over and over.
