  • We know college isn't for everybody - and we're glad. We train skills appropriate to a career as a heavy equipment operator, including any you may need for a specific job, at our 400-acre training site, which is open to all current members at no cost. We've begun making arrangements to expand and offer training in North Dakota soon, too.
    Our apprentices are also constantly learning right on the job site, developing and refining their skills with one key difference from colleges and training companies - instead of paying, they're earning while they learn.
    And not just earning a paycheck, they're putting money into a pension fund and being covered by one of the best healthcare plans in the country. Give us call - all the contact information is on our training center website: www.local49trai...
    Do it now. It's time to stop putting off your career.

    It takes many years to learn how to be a competent operator. Yes they are relatively easy to learn like driving a car is. But the Daytona 500 is also about driving a car

    Training is key👍 I was lucky enough I grew up with a father that owned an excavation company so I got to learn it all when I was young, but the day you quit learning us the day you quit being a good operator in my opinion. You can always learn something always👍👍 SAFETY IS # 1 there’s no opps or re-do’s in excavation work, one mistake can kill someone gotta keep your head on a swivel 💪

    Earth moving is straight forward big excavator loading out dumptruck hauling dozer levelling (with GPS) you can put green horns on this but when it comes to digging to levels pipe work and finishing work it's insulting to say anyone can do this job I'm 15 years in and still learning

    If you get into Operating just for the money then you will never be happy. If you want the big money then become a journeyman laborer. They get lots of overtime and a huge diversity of skills. Ask anyone on a construction job. Who is making the big bucks around here?

    This is the problem with this career....it's too easy to learn...and everyone who fails out of High School wants to "smoke some herb" and do this work....hence...it never pays over 75K....which is NOT a lot of money today....it's too competitive too.
    Anyone can learn this,...with an average brain...or less.....and secondly....too many young people want to do this work....thereby keeping the salaries....low...or relatively so. Let's be honest here.
    An intelligent man/women and learn to drive a truck, tractor, front loader, bobcat....in one day...and get good in a month.

      Frank From Upstate NY I am looking for career change. All the jobs I have worked at pay like $10 an hour or so. I need to make much more than that. I am 49 years old and veteran. If this type of work is easy then I should do good at it. I am drug free and hard worker.

      Take anyone off the street and throw them in a crane see how they do

    • @frankfromupstateny3796
      @frankfromupstateny3796 7 років тому

      That's not the point....it takes about an hour to learn how to drive a backhoe....it takes a day to learn how to drive a crane.....that's not alot of training....now....don't make 'a mess in your shorts' pal....all jobs are good.
      But, there's a reason why driving a front end loader, backhoe, bulldozer pays so poorly....and it does pay poorly...otherwise all men would be driving them. It's too easy to learn.
      How much harder is it....to spend 5-6 years mastering computer coding; working 8-12 hours a day to get there?! Of course anyone "off the street,....doctors, lawyers, truck drivers even....would need at least a day to learn how to drive any of the aforementioned. A day....is not 5-6 years of toil, struggle, sweat and sacrifice.
      I see 18 year old guys,....that have been driving them for 3 to 4 months with no education...and already bored. No offense...this is only a good job,...for an owner/operator. There's just no money in it otherwise.
      Cheers,...and God Bless.

    • @MrJordanbradley
      @MrJordanbradley 7 років тому +7

      Frank From Upstate NY You're correct. Anyone can drive equipment, but to be able to efficiently and safely *operate* any machine takes experience that you don't learn in just one month. P.S. Operators don't wear shorts. God bless

      You can teach someone to drive something but to actually develop a skill and to learn how to do it effectively not anyone can do. U wanna make good money doing this u can. And 75k a year a fine. I personally want to make as much as I can and keep a balance of staying happy but to disregard this work is a foolish statement.
