I like what Caleb Hammer says, “Not having an emergency fund is an emergency.” He says that your ER fund should be one month in f finances because if a large emergency happens and you have only been focusing on debt you are going to go right back into debt 🦋🦋

Hey, I don't know if you'll read this comment, but if you ever do read it, I want you to know that while I'm sure we all wish we didn't make the same mistakes of getting back into debt time and again, you're videos have served as a reminder to me that everyone slips up. More importantly, watching your videos actually helps me to recognize when I am slipping up again, like I am this month and was last month 😅 so I'm going to be spending May and June fixing myself, but you know what? At least, thanks to you and other budgeters out there, I'm only having to address smaller expenditures that went outside my budget versus thousands of dollars + interest. So thank you. Thank you very, very much. And, if anything, I hope comments like this one can help you when the going gets tough while paying down debt.

🦋 we've had so many times where an emergency has depleted our account. Now that I do cash stuffing and follow people such as yourself has made some of those times not hurt as much. Granted they still hurt but it's more like a scratch vs a deep wound. You'll find what works for you bestie.

Yes! Same thing happened to me. I was using the avalanche method to pay off debt then something happened to my car. I would definitely recommend and learned to save first. ❤

My income is good but it’s inconsistent so I make sure to save for bills first (I’m 2 months ahead) while still being able to pay off debt. I’m doing everything I can to not use my credit cards for any reason while I’m still in debt. Keep doing what works best for you bestie! 🦋 💚✨

Im slowly 🐌 but surely getting there i started working on getting ahead 1 month on my bills and emergency at the same time but if you think about it they are really the same thing in the perfect world 🌎 some day in the the future i would like to be at least 3 months ahead🦋
Yes you are right..Pretty much the same thing
You have stop doing basic rules which causes you stress. The rule is to focus on one debt at a time . Once pay off then ROLL the monthly payment to the next debt. You are not rolling over. If you add up all the debt you pay monthly bill, you would be rolling over $700 the next bill. Rule 2. Also you normally do one thing at a time and you plan and save for it. You are currently fixing bathroom and laundry room.. rule 3..track expense daily. I would do a regroup video on how to do debt just using your w2 pay. You got this,,..........many people pay off debt the ramsey way with just w2 pay by rolling over......
I do both. I put some money toward my MONTH Ahead account and I put some toward debt.

🦋 the video froze when I watched it the first time! But I saw it til the end! Where do I put unexpected expenses like gas/food spent to travel to funerals or to visit very I’ll family members? Do I go over the allotted budget for that paycheck or use my cushion?
I’ve been using my cushion but just seems like a mess on my sheet.
It really depends...If you know that you will be traveling for these things, I would have a sinking fund for it and or put the cost in your budget...This is where having an "rainy day fund" may be very helpful so that you are not messing up your budget. I hope that made sense.
🦋🦋 Yes! I watched this video after working and getting through other necessary things. This is my motivation on making wise choices on how to move going forward before doing my budget for this paycheck. 🤗🤗 This is my "magic" month where I'll have an extra pay check (3 instead of 2 paydays)! I've started funding my 52 week envelope (hadn't decided what my goal for it would be). I plan to listen to those who said we should save an emergency/ 1 month ahead and then return to focus on getting out of debt. (I plan to use some of the "magic $$ to catch up on the weeks due to be current through May) I'm following you and breaking this 52 week challenge down by the month. This gives me a sense of accomplishment in the interim until I complete the full challenge. I'll have the freedom to pay additional expenses outside of my normal monthly budget without knocking me off my regular monthly plan. 🤗🤗 Always enjoy your excellent example of sticking to budgeting to get me excited to complete my budget prior to spending any of my paycheck! 🤑🤑 Tracey from San Diego, California 😊🦋

So do you close out every 2 weeks for the end of each pay period?? Or do you only close out at the end of the month?? I know you do your weekly check ins. But close outs, I’m still confused about.

Good morning, I watch your videos all the time, even repeating videos LOL. But to do you or did you do a video when you get paid hourly. I’m guessing I would do the same or try the same method as you have in your videos. Your videos help a lot and very encouraging to do better at saving money and paying off debt
If you are paid hourly your would essentially do your budget the same way...I would budget every single paycheck. Even when you are paid hourly your paycheck should not vary much unless you have issues with being paid less than 40 hours...

I put 50 towards my emergency a month and 70 (10 per each bill) towards 1 month ahead. My extra debt payment is only about 25 a month right now and I feel like I’m on a really slow snowball. I just have been hit right and left with situations the past 2 years that emergency and 1 month ahead NEED to be done.
I totally understand and I think that you are doing the right thing. I just did a reel today and I made a point that it is not about the "amount" but more so about the "discipline". You will get there if you do not stop! Let's GO!!!

When you say, one month ahead. What would you need to do to do that? Work more hours or what? I know your salary though. I mean I've been somewhat ahead before with having 3 paychecks in one month, but now in days, I'm really not ahead. Lol visually I am but physically no ha.
😂 Good question. It is a process to get there. Essentially I’ll need to make more money in order to do this successfully. I’ll explain more in detail once I start.

I definitely understand debt needs to be paid off asap, But focusing on the emergency fund can help you not go into debt later on down the road. One emergency can equal a greater debt 😅 I always put at the very least $5-$10 in my emergency fund. Definitely doesn’t have to b much, it will all eventually add up. Love the channel!❤ keep it up!
