What can I say after so many decades about the director, the actors, the music .... Just absolutely genius and perfect !!!! This song and Will Graham's wife were also part of a Miami Vice episode ....
I watched it and the first time I thought it was just so boring and didn’t get the hype. But after the movie was over it stayed in my mind. I watched it again and boy idk what I seen the first time cuz the second time I just fall in love with this movie. From the songs to the story to beautiful shots. Quite possibly the greatest 80s movie ever! I now have watched it 5 times in less than a year. HEARTBEAT HEARTBEAT, listen to my heartbeat!!!!!
This movie holds the test of time, unlike so much made these days. Truly exceptional, and the soundtrack is amazing. what an 80's movie was when done really well.
When it comes to Thomas Harris novels adapted to movies I would put Manhunter over Silence of the Lambs any day of the week, not to take anything away from Anthony Hopkins but Brian Cox is even creepier Hannibal Lecter
Ralph Fiennes was great as Francis Dollarhyde in Red Dragon. But Manhunter is the better film overall. William Petersen's interpretation of Will Graham just nailed it, and Tom Noonan was a quietly example of creepiness.
Yeah I agree, Fiennes was like the one saving grace of Red Dragon, Norton was horribly miscast and Hopkins was overused and campy as heck. Manhunter is clearly the superior movie.
I disagree. Fiennes was totally miscast, should have been someone that was psysically scary and a bit ugly. And Norton felt like a boyscout, not at all washed-out and torn.
Just watched Director's Cut last night. 9/10. Nice to see more Miami Vice (Same director and a few Vice cameos), not to mention this song is featured in an episode with Will's wife and Sonny Crockett. Will has great acting chops for this character and his trauma/struggles.
I know I’m not the only one who prefers this version, Manhunter is far superior to Red Dragon. The shoots, framing, soundtrack and dialogue are just stellar, it feels so lived in.
Season 1 of True Detective (the definitive one) was very much inspired by this film in both acting and cinematography. You could even witness Matt McConaughey channel his inner William Petersen in all his scenes.😎
Sometimes the simplest solution is the best answer. This was NOT a complicated story. It did not require the type of characters you would need a deeper background for. People who know films, will be the first to tell you that the more "star power" a film has. There is a better chance that it isn't worth seeing. You see. If the STORY is good ? You don't need big names to make it worth watching. B. B.
I had the original vhs movie/Manhunter, not long after it was released. Somewhere along the line over the years the censor idiots clipped the ending which in this music video is cameo d some- the rainy scene (spoiler alert) looking out the window. What got clipped? Him, walking up to the door of the family he just saved and the wife answering. It's bs imho when they redact movies that way. If you have the original vhs or dvd, you've got a pearl of a gem. Hannibal had 2 ultra fantastic actors that played the part.. one being the guy who was Brad Pitt's general in Troy, and the other in the series part, that I think was titled Hannibal,- both totally are pinnacles in my favorites. --- just read a comment here and maybe I had Red Dragon (series?) in mind,.. and if so, definitely* about Ralph Fiennes. !
A Police Officer friend of mine told me that there are over 225 serial killers - a lot like Frances Dollarhyde - lurking out there in the United States alone as we speak. Something to think about before going to bed. ALWAYS BE WARY!!
Indeed. The real monsters are not the ones behind bars. It's the ones that walk in the open among us. Clever and disciplined enough to avoid capture. Murder cases often are cracked on lucky breaks. Imagine all the bodies never recovered.
A real stylish 80s movie which i can watch again & again
This is an awesome 80s movie. So underrated as well
Definitely the cornerstone of the genre.
Yes, the music is so cool
@@thelleftaremad7556 Eggcellent all round
My favourite movie

Listen to my heartbeat❤
Michael Mann knows how to make a movie and incorporate the right music for the scene.

Brian Cox was brilliant as lector, the best film out of the lot Peterson was an incredible actor...what a soundtrack too.
Will graham: “I know that I’m not smarter than you”
Lector: “then how did you catch me?”
Will graham: “you had disadvantages”
Both were great movies; Cox & Peterson were awesome.
Just watched this amazing movie again. Great soundtrack, great acting, love it!
This and to lie and die in LA are the best work Bill has done
I agree, but I also loved him in Fear.
Brian Cox is the best cannibal 😂😂😂

This song goes so perfectly with the movie! What great scenery too!
Love this song and movie.
Michael The Mann's masterpiece
Miami Vice vibes ❤
Better than silence Of The lambs😂😂😂
1986 far better than 2002. 2002 not bad.
Sums it up for me perfectly. Red Dragon is an OK film, this is an excellent film!
My second favourite Mann film. It has its flaws but I just love how stylish it is.
What is your first film?
Not very original, but it's Heat!@@jorgmehring2660
@@jorgmehring2660i Bet it was "heat' 🙂
Stone cold 80s cool fashions . great music soundtrack . with the classic Michael Mann's style.
Michael Mann 👍
Absolutely!!!
the best film Mickael MANN .
He is a great director! And nice profile picture by the way :)
Yes Pierre Manhunter 1986 best Film 💪🏻...and Noonan best DOLLARHYDE 🔪
Heat beats it but not by much
Season 1 of True Detective (the definitive one) was very much inspired by this film in both acting and cinematography. You could even witness Matt McConaughey channel his inner William Petersen in all his scenes.😎
Totally agree. Is like a Detective story with some elements of Horror. Just brilliant
Same with Mindhunter

Manhunter is a mesmerizing filming. Beautiful cinematography
Artwork, not a simple movie.
Excellent.
Awesome movie!!!! Way before the other later Hannibal movies.... Just a Classic....
I watched this movie in the eighties, when I was in elementary school. I was troubled
What a movie ❤
Awsome movie. Watch it over & over. Great music too! 🎼🤗👏🙌
What a beautiful video: thank you 😊

“That’s the same atrocious aftershave you wore in court.”
“Yea, I keep getting it for Christmas.”
Will Peterson is awesome Mr Yummy
Manhunter 1986 was better than Red Dragon !!! Fact !!!
By far !
Incredible Atmosphere, Style, Soundtrack and acting.
Didn’t you my man …..😳
a little bit miami vice and heat
DO YOU SEE?
Chills
Between Edward Norton and Will Petersen I like more the second as Will Graham
Nice music in the film but overall, it's very sterile film. And inferior to Red Dragon both as a movie and adaptation.
Beautiful soundtrack ❤️
