An even faster way to grow roots, is place the trimmed branch in a little glass of water. I placed my branch trimmings in shot glasses, about 5 feet away from the window, no direct sunlight, and within 3 days it started to sprout some white buds, and after a week and half I had some roots growing. I then placed them in recycled yogurt cups with some dirt and going to give them away. :)
you look like such a genuine person, i find it so cute how excited you got about your baby plants having roots, and it's really adorable how you repeat words 😭 you're so precious, and thank you for your help ♥️♥️
Hey Shara, I have so much respect for you for making videos in a second language! It really isn't easy, the will and confidence you show to let the information shine is truly inspiring. Best of luck, and thanks for the info.
OMG, you are absolutely the cutest! Your excitement is contagious! Not to mention, you are gorgeous. I'm excited to try this! I found my ficus potted in such a darling pot with only a few leaves and it is growing so well. I think I spent $3. Can't wait to make babies! ;) Thanks for the tips!
Which soil do you use? I did try in regular soil it dies quickly. When I put it in glas of water it doesn't die but it wont grow roots eather. What did I do wrong?
I have a few cuttings that have grown very long. Should I trim them? I don't know how to get it to grow into a thick tree truck form? They have definitely gotten thicker but they also keep getting taller not sure if I was suppose to trim them.
I was searching for ways to propagate a ficus and found this video, you seem like a really kind person and it is so cute how excited you are about these roots^^ I can relate so much to this:'D leaving a sub right here ^^
Shara Thanks for the great info I didn't realize it is that easy. My question is can you use, should you use rooting hormone will it help the process faster? I noticed you didn't even mention hormone. Maybe its a few questions thankyou for your time!!
I used this method to propagate my plant and it works really good. But could you also explain to us how to continue from now on? How to grow the plant in such a way to have the tick and nicely shaped trunk?
It depends on the plant you have, most ficus bonsai you can find are 2 different plants, the first is the one that makes that trunk, then it gets everything cut down and grafted with a different species of ficus with smaller leaves (the one with big trunk has big leaves too), so if you want a plant with such trunk you should hope in a branch coming from the bottom of the tree instead of the upper part If you still want to use cuttings from the upper part the easiest way to make a larger trunk should be by letting the main branches growing into sacrificial branches that you will cut once the tree has a sufficient trunk thickness
Hi, it is very easy plant to make propagation. But just make sure when you make cutting choose the new branch. Old branch cannt make it. I have tried with old branches before and they all die.
@@sharanyein3466 Good to know! I've recently started trimming my plant to help it find it's shape. I was going to just throw away the branches but then found your video. So far I'm propagating the ends of 2 branches. The branches were older but hopefully it being the tips will mean it will propagate better? So far the leaves are still really green so it might be working! Thanks again for the info!
I have a question so when I was doing the bark shave part I accidentally went past the dark green, also do always keep it in a bin? I didn’t have a bin so I used Tupperware.
Ah. That would be why mine freak out every so often. Not enough water. I usually let the soil get fairly dry. (Nursing one of my various ficus bonsai back to health rn.) Looking almost back to normal.
I have a pretty large bonsai pot that's like 10 by 10 inches and a 1 or 2 inches tall, I also have to ficus ginseng's so now I'm just gonna fill that pot with a little focus forest😂
Do not worry about watering like she says the can develop rot they always grow better for me letting it mostly dry out before soaking it again, i water mine once a week
I have a question...Why did you cut the leaves in half when propagating the plant? Do you have to cut them in half or is it okay if you leave them as is?
I dont water my ficus bonsai that often , about once or twice a week because the pot is inside a Chinese style pot holder on 3 legs and it holds water so the soil is constantly moist and the plant seems to be really enjoying it.
Yeah same. It's a classically flawed way to measure watering "in the summer every single day.." "once or twice" etc. because of so many external factors. I put my finger in the soil and only water my ficus ginseng when it's completely dry without any soil coolness to prevent any chance of overwatering. This averages every 1-2 weeks for me depending on time of year.
Hi I looked up this video just to see if it was possible. I water propagated instead and have successfully rooted one cutting. I'm not too sure what to do next though haha. The roots are around 1.5 inches.
Hi Jennifer. I am using sphagnum moss, sand and normal potting soil for my plant now. They do really well. For extra moisture i also like to use gravel tray 😀 hope it is helpful 😀
i had mine indoors and it seemed to die and yellow the leaves, with some shedding. I took it to my balcony and it's never been happier because it's so bright there.
Hi, that is the one of the plant I alway like to propagate and actually I have tried last year. I made many cutting, bit unfortunately non of them was alive. They are kind of stubborn plant to propagate by cutting 😒
