Not too many black folks from the ghetto like rock but I was one of the ones that did and in 8th grade this kid named mike (I knew like 5 mikes) showed me this song and havent left since . We even had matching heartagram shirts. We dont talk anymore now (since we're both 26 & doing things in life now) but if I ever see him again it's an automatic H.I.M reunion
This song takes me back when I was 15 years old. High School days
+Eric Catozzi Same
Not the only one.
+Eric Catozzi Dude...
+Eric Catozzi Yup, 14 years old 8th grade for me. I remember falling in love with that riff. 11 years later, still love the riff.
+Eric Catozzi My thoughts exactly
2020 song is still awesome!
April Nunez agreed, still my favorite HIM song

Most unforgettable song ever! Greatest and most intense feeling to listen too. Truly remarkable and chilling. Greatest one ever!!!!
2021 and this song still hits. Love it. Wish they came out with more 🎵...
Him kicks fucking ass man. This is literally my favorite song by them.
Timeless song.
TT
Quick question...what does he mean with "rip out the wings of a butterfly? To break her wings or open them and fly free?
Sorry I still learning English 😁 but I used to love this song even before understand learned the basics.
Wow this is so crazy. Haven’t heard this song since I was a goth in middle school.
my grandpa who passed away. refused to buy me this cd when i was like 12 or 13 cuz he went into hot topic to get it and said no since it said "rip out the wings of a butterfly" he got scared 😂😂 ill never forget that moment & im going to be 28 this year.
Go tell Grandpa to watch a movie where they stick nails into a guy's arms and legs he'll love it❤
I still hear this at work and still bangs ! WELCOME TO SADDLE RANCH ! WEST HOLLYWOOD SUNSET 💯
Man this takes me back, I even remember the skip at 3:08 that all the downloaded versions had 😭
I admit there were some songs and bands I missed during my high school life. But I wish I heard this song sooner! It's like drama sadness and beauty put together that strikes your heart like an arrow!
My husband and I have been together for 14 years and this song reminds me of us when we first starting dating ❤️ so many memories ✨🌹😭
omg same
Its nice to know it can still work for someone.blessings.
Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.
Ikr. I keep blowing up the comments bc this song is dope :/. So dope, im all in my headphones, & the pitt was actually careful to not trip on them and actually let me be. I had to love on her for that and of course that was an invitation for her aggressively smother me like she usually does
Now 17 years together ❤ and this is still our song 🥰
Great, now I adore music again after a long bloody time. Thanks,Your Heavenly Majesty! 😆🥰❤
Who is listening to this in 2018!!! One of the best songs!!!!!
Fuck you :D
@@GMOTP5738 have you discovered time machine and came back to tel me this? Lol
Moiz Shamsi I am
Yep ♡♡
Going into 2019 blasting this and every other him song
1:44- 1:57 and 2:51- 3:05 the sound of his voice beats right into the hearts and then through veins goes to your brain and stays there for countless reproductions all day... every day... always!!!
Back in the days when I was 13... So much time has passed damn it.
24 hours is not a long time
Dude I know. I'm almost 28 now 😭 lol
Damm i was 7 when i first heard it my oldest brother was in high school and of course he was emo and in a band. Now im 24 noticing time flying by.
@@dawngarate4789 33 here now. I remember watching CKY and Jackass in the early 2000s and listening to this cuz of Bam Margera being a big fan.
I miss these days !!!!
This is one of those songs to me, that everyone else should just leave the room and leave me alone to bask in.
Adam Fowler exactly what I was thinking
2020 is anyone listen to it?
People will never stop listening to HIM,ever,if you think they should then you re not listening to it right :)
NO, WE AREN'T!!! All these new comments are an illusion...
forever and ever,baby :)
I remember when this song came out, on MTV2 it would always play with Hypnotize by SOAD and Coming Undone by Korn.
This song got me into "actual" music. The 5th grader in me appreciates that.
15 years later, it's still as beautiful as I remember it, that intro, those lyrics.
I'm in love.
pure freaking songwriting perfection.
Bam Margera introduced me to some good fuckin music back in the day. I totally forgot about this song
haha me to!
Bam introduced *everyone* to HIM. Man I'd give anything to go back to those days.
oh what i would give just to go back to those days!
Say hello to Bam for me.
The entire album was amazing. High school sucked ass but the music around this time was awesome
Possibly the greatest riff in history. Sent from the heaven
Facts!
Ummm.....no, I don't think so 😂 It's good, but very basic.
@@jacobadam6804 but still good ,
@@michaelhawkins7389 I agree. That’s why I said in my comment that it was good.
I doubt that. 0:31 "heaven ablaze in our eyes" this one is clear, they're overthrowing heaven, 0:41 "blood on our hands is the wine, we offer a sacrifice", in christianity, wine is treated as Jesus's blood, so the blood of Jesus is on their hands, 0:51 ripping the wings probably means taking away his freedom, his holiness and all kinds of shit. Then you have their logo, which is an incomplete pentagram, which can also be interpreted as a hearth inside a pentagram, which shows band's love for Satan. It could be sent from heaven if the heaven's already been overthrown, but really, as if any of that's real.
Haven't heard this in a long time. Love.
I miss hearing this song. Glad to be listening to it now.
every now and again I get this urge to listen to music I haven't heard since I was a teen, nostalgic!
To me this song represents the human ego, and the destruction of others feelings and hearts to feed one's ego. Destruction of someone in hope of love and something pure. An innocent butterfly killed, an innocent hope for love killed. For someones ego, someone's physical needs to please their soul.
You just solved my 12 yr old mystery lol was dating someone when I was 19 and the night they broke up with me they sent me this I never got the meaning behind it until now thanks
This takes me back when I was 4 ......still have those three albums for HIM
I am still listening in 2021! I will always love Ville!

Still so good.
I'm listening now.
He is absolutely one of the sexiest men alive... Still to this day.
That riff is is so simple yet on another level of awesome
When u watching this 2021 .. U still a legend
It's a metaphor for the stop Floating or Fluttering around and focus on life but also to Mate. A butterflies lifestyle is nearing its end when it mates. It's wings often fall off just before it dies.
thank you, I was wondering what he meant lol 🖤
This comment almost made me cry for the poor butterflies...
I've never seen a wingless butterfly body
This song Was my Wife and i my life saying when events got tough.
My mom who passed used to get so mad at for me this song she’d always yell at me and say “Who the hell would want to rip out the wings of a butterfly!!”
Go tell her that not everything has a have a Bible shut up its a** to be considered music
True
I'm sorry for your loss happy mothers day to you mom may she rest in power

An ex-lover got me in to the band HIM. I still listen to gone with the sin, wings of a butterfly, vampire heart, under the rose and play dead. I'm way over my ex lover but this song is so beautiful and lovely.

@@jacobsteen972 chester brings everything to the live performance one of my favorite bands glad I saw them live with incubus
@@mattmatonek3251 I got to see them live in Birmingham back in 2017 which was their final performance right before he killed himself. I was considering not to go too so it’s probably the best decision I’ve made in my life. I’ll never forget when he sang Breaking The Habit, my personal favourite song of all time. He really looked distressed while he was singing, there’s a live upload of the video on UA-cam.
I love this song and the band as well
