I was hated for no reason. They just keep telling me to change yourself but it's not easy and instant as they say... I went through a mental breakdown but after that I decided to hide the reason on why I went nuts. Because of them saying the same thing over and over and over again. I developed a habit of talking to myself. I lost my trust to everyone in here, It's as if I live alone. Only I trust myself, That is my way of life.

I like how in the last chorus, he keeps switching from screaming to a more mellow, defeated tone. It just makes it that much more real and raw cause at the beginning you TRY to explain, but at the end you just give up, cause no one is listening. The defeated tone becomes more like a monologue, with him screaming to try and get other people to listen to him, but fails.

I remember being a kid and everyone saying I was just like my father. This song really resonated with me at the time. Now I have a son of my own. He's just like me and my dad and my grandpa. Not a bad thing mind you, but stubborn and headstrong. Now I'm trying to find that balance between letting him find his own way and guiding him away from the pitfalls that I made along my stubborn way. Which I've finally realized was all that my own father was trying to do for me when I was a kid. The lyric that resonates now is "You were just like me with someone disappointed in you." f**k...I'm trying my best as a father and inevitably I'm falling short. Just like my Dad did. He made me feel like I was always failing, my path was always wrong. I never took things seriously enough and was just wasting my talents. I've only now realized it was out of love and trying to save me from the challenges that come from not taking advantage of the opportunities that are handed to us when we are young. I gotta do better. I have to make him feel, know and understand, that I realize this is his journey and as long as he's safe, I'm always there cheering him on.
