Thanks for takitthe time to make this video. I fully realize it's not as simple as you make it look. I purchased a K2700 about 18 months ago and have been fighting cancer so i haven't spent as much time on it as id like. Im 66 and a trained classical and theater organist that got hooked on Rock in the 70's. As my instructor wasn't pleased about it he still came around and continued my training. I have an above average studio and as strange as it may sound, i use a Korg PA4x basically as a very high rnd sequencer for the K2700. It allows me to do things that most would consider a physical imposaibility. By using the K2700 sequencer I can make up any shortcomings which the PA4x may have and it truly redefines the concept of a "One Man Band". As i was brought up playing live i dont do a lot of recording as I truly believe if you can't do it live you shouldn't do it at all. When you get into the real depth of the PA4x you find how complex and capable it truly is and the marriage with the K2700 makes the impossible possible. I do use a DAW, Ableton Live, for sophisticated guitars among other things that I could never achieve with the PA4x alone. Adding the K2700 to the mix made life much more tolerable and using the effects available on the K2700 in addition to it's sound library makes life a lot easier when it comes to musical realism. If time is available due to my cancer I'm considering writing a book on how to do such. Many musicians in the US see arranger Keyboards as toys. The same people that push a single button to play a complex chord don't understand how ignorant that makes them look. They dont use AI, they use BS to be blunt. Anyway, thanks again for the time you took to make this video. Some, like myself, really do appreciate it. Best regards, Bill

Great demo! I have a K2500XS for many many years. Never replaced it with a K2600, cause in mine opinion they where to close to each other. But the K2700 is mind blowing, much more power and capabilities than the K2500 an 2600. So for me this the moment to buy a K2700. Again, great video and well played!
I started plinking piano by ear as a child. Around age 18 or so I took up guitar and I've been playing that most of my life. But, watching you do this really makes me wish I could also play the keys that well.

Thanks for the wonderful demonstration! Kurz rules again!!! What was MIDI 17 assigned to at 24:10? Nothing? Meaning empty assignment, which allows one to assign any parameter to that knob linked with MIDI 17? I didn't realize what has changed when the knob of that MIDI 17 was turned back and forth... Thanks... Great video!!!👍👍👍
i feel the design of the newest Kurz keyboards after PC3 generation just weird and bulky design, just loved my PC3X which has classic look and absolutely solid build.
What's with the microscopic screen? It looks like it was supposed to be a regular sized 7" and they decided to go 5" inch instead with a HUGE bevel around it.
I understand that pc4 has a smaller screen to keep cost down but this one is the flagship? Hope they can put a 7-10 in touchscreen in the next iteration
I’d really like to see a video focused on the VAST architecture and programming new sounds rather than tons of presets. What improvements have been made to VAST since I sold my K2500 (besides polyphony)? Is the screen used for making programming such a complex system more accessible? Lots of “characterful” old school sounds, but how can I use the power of VAST (and the improvements to it) to create something with a contemporary sound? I know that wasn’t the point of this video. I’m just saying I’d really like to see something like that.
That video would be awesome to do. If life affords me the time, I’ll try to do one. It’s seriously deeper than the K series. The K series had 32 algorithms, and then they added triple mode which allowed you to chain three layers into one long DSP chain. With extended VAST you now have over 100 algorithms, and you can chain any number of layers arbitrarily up to all 32 per program. There are new DSP blocks and many more cool algorithms. It’s far advanced over the K-series..
@@ChristianMartirano Thanks for responding! It's exactly that kind of info that I'd love to see more about. Excellent demo like always, I checked out all the demos available so far on UA-cam but the pianos sound so thin in comparison of Kurzweil Forte. Also why is it cheaper then Kurzweil Forte when it has so many functions Ribbon Controler mic interface, Etc. ???????
So,i have the PC4-7 ,you can transfer all the new K2700 sounds in the 4,same VAST engine,ok less built quality but I use it only at home.So why a more expensive K2700?

I was really interested since I have a PC2X which has been my bread and butter for over 15 years (and I had a LOT of 88 key boards before that). One issue I've always had is that the pianos are much lower in volume than the other sounds, which I've never understood since the piano is Kurzweil's claim to fame... As soon he moved to other sounds, they were way louder again. C'mon Kurzweil!! // Some of the sounds are an upgrade, but I didn't hear a marked increase in sonic excellence; that could be just how this was recorded, Idk. Some new features seem really cool, but I didn't hear enough to make me jump on the K2700 bandwagon. Hearing Keith Emerson sounds from nearly 50 years ago was almost depressing. So tired of that portamento moog sound; and I'm from that era! Before I buy another 88-key keyboard (which I will do in the coming year), I'll check this out. I want to hear other sounds of course.
Can't deny they have character to them. Arturia did recently emulations of Fairlight and Emulator samplers...which of course are nowhere near the sonic quality of modern samplers or VSTs but those sounds have a character to them. I look at Kurzweil sounds the same way. I wish they would come up with a desktop module though.
a me sembra che in generale tutti i timbri non mi dicano niente di nuovo. Sento tutta la timbrica di untastiera di 20 anni fa...non so puo essere una mia impressione
The big problem with Kurzweil's these days is they are not well made any more. I have owned many (from all eras) and I also have repaired many of them over the years too. I had a PC3K and it only lasted less than 10 years before the display went out, the power supply, the output jack board and more. The large rotary knob on my PC3K just snapped off. I managed to repair it but there is a tiny little pot behind it. I also have a K2500R and its is beautifully made compared to the new ones. (Korea) What is not obvious here in this video is the sound of the new generation Kurzweil's is not the same as the K2500 series. To my ears the best sounding Kurzweil is the K2500/2600 series. There is just something about that sound that is not in the current ones. Where is the K2700 made? Find out. Be very careful. After my bad experiences with the PC3K I am never going to buy another one. The reality is there are better made products out there that sound just as good. And if any of you have still got a K2000/K2500, people are releasing new sound banks for them right now and they just sound incredible. Makes your old Kurzweil sound completely different, new and totally fresh. Save your money and buy some new sound banks instead! ua-cam.com/video/dRIcmjL9o30/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/LGLmBTFtQv4/v-deo.html
@@SanctuaryLife The file you get can easily be put onto a floppy. (although you will need a computer with a floppy A drive to do it) You also get a Sysex file and you can send it to the Kurzweil via a free app.
it seems to me that in general all stamps do not tell me anything new. I hear all the samples of a keyboard from 20 years ago ... I don't know,... it could be my impression
Honestly, the samples themselves are not of utmost importance in a synth, if you ask me. It's how you actually use them and what tools you are given to shape them. Take the Korg Wavestate for example. Some utterly mind blowing sounds that the Korg team programmed for that thing, all by using samples that by themselves sound pretty shit. However, if you're more interested in new strings samples, orchestral samples etc. then I guess this new iteration will be a bit disappointing.
Why doesn't anybody's demo have popular songs from old so that we can really hear what the instrument can do? Everybody just jumps around on the keyboard with non-sensical gibberish!
He must have lucked out and gotten a "soft" Fatar TP40L variety. Very hard to press the black keys this close to the top on "stiff" variants. Or it must've been hand-picked for him.
@@ChristianMartirano Survivorship bias)) I recently got this TP40L where the top two octaves are playable and the lower keys stiff. I was able to trace this down to pink plastic parts rubbing against the metal rod that is likely poorly machined in the lower region. In the past I tried a PC3A8 that was very good, then a PC3K8 and a Forte right next to it that were stiff. I returned to the shop a couple of weeks later with a set of calibrated weights - and the difference was about 20 grams.
Young Chang bought Kurzweil in 1990. All K series (K2000, K2500, K2600), PC88, PC2 were created during their ownership. R&D was and is still Boston based. I think you are very mistaken about Young Chang. Hyundai has owned them from the creation PC3 through the present. Prior to Young Chang Kurzweil produced the K250, RMX, and 1000 series racks and the K1000 keyboard.

a me sembra che in generale tutti i timbri non mi dicano niente di nuovo. Sento tutta la timbrica di untastiera di 20 anni fa...non so puo essere una mia impressione
Touch screen new Kurzweil.
I am wacthing from bangkok in the land corona delta virus

I have a k2600 but im worried ill overwrite the stock sounds? OR do I need a SCSI zip drive for it to hold the new samples?
@@SanctuaryLife The new sounds don't use any samples, only the existing ROM. The patches can be loaded into one of the higher banks eg 200-300 etc..
@@jeffevansmusic Is that using the floppy disk? Seems the only interface I have. Or do I need to buy a SCSI Zip drive?
@@SanctuaryLife The file you get can easily be put onto a floppy. (although you will need a computer with a floppy A drive to do it) You also get a Sysex file and you can send it to the Kurzweil via a free app.
@@jeffevansmusic thanks how do you transfer using the app is it via a cable of some kind?
If this thing could be as revolutionary as the K2000 was for the time, then...yes. However, this kinda seems to be another K2500 iteration...
it seems to me that in general all stamps do not tell me anything new.
These are made in South Korea, rather than China, right? That’s a plus.
China they are made in. Pc3 k and a are the last of Koreans. Anything all plastic after those is China
Why doesn't anybody's demo have popular songs from old so that we can really hear what the instrument can do? Everybody just jumps around on the keyboard with non-sensical gibberish!
Can't hear the presenter talking at all.
My Motif XS from 2008 has a bigger screen than that.
The acoustic or grand pianos sound a bit Kind of lifeless, maybe a better eq could help them

I want to play Kurzweil Kp 110 in thailand cost 8,900 Baht but i not have money for buying
He must have lucked out and gotten a "soft" Fatar TP40L variety. Very hard to press the black keys this close to the top on "stiff" variants. Or it must've been hand-picked for him.
Stock key bed. Hand picked?? No. I have a Forte and they have the same action that feels and responds the same.
I returned to the shop a couple of weeks later with a set of calibrated weights - and the difference was about 20 grams.
is this a joke ? 3000 € for that ? korg roland and yamaha are laughting.. Really
YOUNG CHANG destroyed Kurzweil brand.
Sorry.
I like access virus .
Wish I could just put the internals of this board inside my pc3k7 because this thing is hideous and resembles a cheap midi controller.
