Bushcraft Day Camp in the Woods with a Canvas Poncho Tent

  • I head out into the woods alone for a Bushcraft Day Camp using my Canvas Poncho Tent. This time I use half the poncho to make the shelter with a stick as a centre pole. I forage for natural fire lighting materials (tinder) and get a fire going using flint and steel. I fry some fresh food on the firebox twig stove. Later in the day I light a fire using a primitive bowdrill (friction fire) and chill out in the shelter listening to the nature asmr and enjoying time alone in the woods! Thanks for joining the adventure - Mike

I'll be honest I never find these repetitive or boring, just like I never find nature repetitive or boring. I love coming in after work on a Friday, cracking a beer and chilling out watching these. Keep up the great work!

When I first watched this video (6 years ago) I was very enthralled by the music (The Long Walk). After a very circuitous route, I found that it was written by Jimmy Wahlsteen. So, after 6 years I want to thank you for introducing me to him. He is a great musician and I very much like his music. I very much like your videos as well.

I just wanted to say, I really love your channel. What I like is the variety of what you do, whether it's a solo trip with you at the camp, or one like this. The stuff with your dad at the Pallet build, I think are really great too. To see the father son love for doing what you do. It's great to see your dad and his fishing trips, and the time you take in making that channel possible too. Also your collaborations with Alec, have been nice to watch. On that note I'd like to say, just do what what your doing. You have a true realness in what your content is, and the blend of what you post is always informative. Cheers from the states!!

Mike, I think one idea that a lot of people would like is if you made a series of videos where you made it seem like you were in a SHTF scenario, it could be something more realistic or something crazy like the zombie apocalypse. I personally think it would be awesome if you used the zombie apocalypse scenario with a full storyline. I think that the poncho tent, and Jax would be awesome to have in a story like that. I hope Jax is ok tho. If anyone else likes this idea leave a thumbs up

Dont worry about the video content, whats important is that you bring us joy with your video's and I personally look forward to watching whatever you and your Dad do and take the time to show us these things, so thank you. Jax will be fine, he's still young and strong and it wont be long before he's back out with you. The beard is looking awesome Mike, just be careful when blowing on the dry grass, I noticed your beard touching the grass so be aware or lose the beard.

Awesome low-key video. I personally don't mind a bit of repetition. Each video is different, whether or not the specifics within are as well. What gets grating is trying to learn something by watching one single video repeatedly. I like that you do things several times across multiple vids. Always a good watch. Thanks to you and yours and thoughts are with Jax.

Similarly to how you crumpled up the dried grass to get the fire started, when using a bow drill, if you take the dried grass and grind it together you can get really small and fine particles that take an ember really well.
