Really love the Polish Military Canvas Poncho Tent - To think they made this in the 1970's too! It's a little heavy, but so practical for the time and it's definitely my favourite tent! One idea for the website.. maybe sell some merchandise like tshirts, stickers, patches etc. Of course TA Outdoors logo on it 🤘 Love your videos! Keep up the good work 😋 Greetings from Sweden
TA Outdoors I think it would be an interesting POV and regular blog on your website, if you got Emmys insight on being a Bushcrafters wife. There must be scrafice and interesting stories from her perspective. Also, Jaxx doghouse, needs to be a feature as well, not sure what he would "TALK" about, but maybe a way for him to sponsor animal related camp gadgetry. Great work on this video, I like the cabin, and the base camp, but I really like seeing you in the bush. Keep it up mate.
TA Outdoors bro make a small journal like that one in rain / dirt proof paper and I'll buy it real quick and I'm pretty sure everyone else will too! Having it in my pocket while I'm out there would be convenient as hell cause I've been too lazy to make my own, and a good way to support you as well 👌👌 Make it happen Yo we'll do the rest 🙌
I've seen allot of survival videos and your the first person I've ever seen make lighting a fire with flint and steel look easy.... Many UA-cam survivalists do it every video even though they have a lighter in there pocket and struggle forever trying to light the fire but you spend a few minutes doing prep work and light the fire instantly everytime... I'm impressed! Love the video keep it up! Thank you!
Mike, I can't tell you just how much I enjoy all your great videos. I always look forward to seeing them. I don't get to camp as much as I once did, and your videos are almost like I'm right there, camping with you! I hope your Dad is doing well- my best to both of you!
Slept in one of these in the rain in basic training years ago. As you noted, it takes two, so every person carries one and half of the stakes, then you set it up together and make it a very small two man tent.
once a soldier always a soldier. nice to see a polish millitary accent in your video. Big up from Warsaw. this spring time will be my first bushcraft trip. thanks for many of advices
As soon as you started unwrapping your journal, before it came into view, i knew exactly what it was. I have exactly the same one. Did some writing in the woods Wednesday night myself actually. I found a spot by my favorite stream, set up camp, tested out some new gear (partly inspired by your kit), cooked some grub, hung my bear bag, and listened to (oddly enough) the owls. The babbling brook, and owl hoots were very peaceful, right up until the wolves started howling... i have the benefit of bringing my rifle with me. I don't shoot it much while camping. It does make me feel safer on my own. Thank you for all you do Mike. I've always been a woodsman/ camper, but you and a few others online have given me some valuable insight, techniques, and gear recommendations. In the end it's all about getting out there where i don't have cell coverage, unplugging, and enjoying the great outdoors. I really enjoyed the video, the Poncho shelter, and the parallels, and differences. Oceans apart, but the same sky above. Thanks again Mike.
I would love to see a bunch of TA hacks and TA tricks for campers, alot of us are new to this type of camping and some might want to know more about hammock and tarp camping and you do have alot of TA hacks, tips and tricks there! Like tying a knot on the straps from the three to the hammock to stop water running in to the hammock. Small, handy and TA hacks that us normal people dont think about but totaly makes the experience better!
Use mine in the winter when trekking with a sled. Awesome wind block. Digging into deep snow even one poncho can be a shelter. It is also canvas so one can get real cozy with a sleeping fire.
At 16:23 where you said it was TWO ponchos together, LOL. I was amazed by how big that shelter was until you said that! Keep them coming, love to watch!
Thanks a lot for this great video. Love this poncho. Something that could help to wear it is the string loop you have in your back (the one you have used for your candle). The first drawstring, as you have shown, is used to tighten the hood, but the second one, if you pull it, will make the poncho far more easiest to wear.
I've just bought one of those Polish tents off ebay. Been a bit tricky figuring out how to pitch it properly cos there's no instructions with it. But still, its' very good and like you say, versatile. I like the fact that you can just use one of the ponchos as a shelter if you want. I had'nt figured out how to string it up from the top so that was a very useful video. Thanks.
I love what you do Mike, its a real inspiration for me to get back out there. Its been 20 years since I've gone camping and due to a Traumatic Brain Injury I am unable to work so funds are tight and I love seeing the outdoors and all the bush crafting you do. I'd personally love to see more bushcrafting. Maybe some "On a budget" bushcrafting or some "Back to the basics" videos as well. Thats just me.
I used the U.S. Army version of the two poncho shelters throughout Vietnam and usually slept quite comfortably. Those shelters Ideally consisted of two ponchos, three empty mortar round boxes, one or two poncho liners, and an air mattress. However, we usually had to wait until later in the evening to fall asleep as "contact" usually initiated around 8:00 PM.
I have two of these and have made the tent and slept in it in New Hampshire. Never thought to use the tripod method, great tip thanks. Its super heavy carrying both together but really good water protection especially if you use a water repellent.
Mate.. i live in Australia & i am so lucky that i was able to buy from my local ausie disposals store a complete lavu tent set up! Yes!! I baught the complete original 2 poncho.. with the 2 canvas pouches each with 2 original aluminum pole sections.. & 5 tent pegs.. So each soldier had 1 poncho, 1 canvas pouch that included 2 sections of center pole & 5 tent pegs.. 2 soldiers put together had 2 ponchos ( a complete tent) 2 pouches that was 4 center pole pieces ( a complete center pole) & 10 tent pegs ( complete pegs for the tent) I purchased this tent for $40 Australian dollars! Complete with stamped dates on each poncho! I wish i could send you pics of it!.
Just a thought about what you can do for videos in the next year! Some that seem to go over well and I thoroughly enjoy, are those that reflect and demonstrate what life was like in the 17 and 1800's. People had to travel by horse or by foot, and much time was spent outdoors in the elements and there has been much journaling done regarding such! With the rich history of your area, there should be many such references to possibly recreate and demonstrate! Just a thought. Good luck and thanks for your time spent with us now!
Great video Mike, top notch production quality, and well shot. I like the tripod over the center pole for sure. I've been on the fence whether to pick up a canvas poncho shelter or go with a canvas tarp. Thanks for having us along!
you look like a Druid in that poncho lol. i have noticed on several channels that i have been binge watching from the beginning, as your channels grow and you are under more pressure to put out videos, all of you guys are so stressed. i watch you because i like your serene demeanors lol. don"t let this you tube crap change you please. your such a soft spoken kind dude. i like you calm cool and collected.
BALANCE, you tend you maintain it and inspire people to get back into nature. I have been showing your clips to my Boy Scout Troop. Thanks for your your effort!
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who has ever blown up an air mattress by mouth. I love all your videos- I'm not picky about one subject over another.
Hello. I’m from spain. Yours videos is great, they are very educational. Continuos to learning the people with you. Thanks and sorry for my english. Kind regards P.D.: it would be great subtitles
Ran out of post card stamps , just made it home to Florida, wife is picking some up today at post office . Got a few cards to send you. Guess they will all arrive at the same time.
I own 4 of those tarps/ponchos (2 full tents), and love it. Yes, its bulky and heavy, hand slits are damn to low for my liking, can get soaked pretty quick in heavy downpour ( maybe not for poncho but as tent... nearly perfect), but its still one of my favorite piece of camping gear. I did made pattern out of it and made two from oxford poliester tarps. It's still the same design, higher slits for arms, slightly longer (if you carry a bigger back pack and you're over 6' your feet will get wet), but still usable as half/full tipi tent. keep those laavu tents as historic items though.
The UK keep destroying our forests and woodland everwhere! Mass building of housing and roads. Is sad! Shocking and heartbreaking! Suppport the woodland trust! Help stop the destruction!
Yai! My favourite way of studying is while playing your videos Mike! Thanks for being such a good company (Sorry if I missspelled something, English is not my mother language)
Happy days. Followed you guys since the fishing vids, being into wildcamping, albeit in a small way, these vids are always a pleasure to watch. Many thanks Mike.
My sister Evie has been watching your videos from the beginning and is also a massive bushcraft fan, to the point she now has the nickname Evie Grills. I think you look amazing as Robin Hood and the tent/poncho looks really practical and comfortable. Love watching all your videos and can’t wait for more.
Nice trip video Mike! You should totally collate some of those journal pages and have them printed in a journal (with a bunch of blank pages) that your subscribers can buy on your site.
Hi love your videos it is an inspiration for us and just wanted to say thank you and would like to se more of you guys make some video together with your dad and bushcraft Tools Dustin. And please little more fishing videos. Thanks
Mike, another great video! What I have come to learn is that you have "tame" forests in the UK. You've mentioned it several times, there are no real predators you need to worry about during your bushcraft adventures. Here in the US, "lions, tigers, & bears, oh no" comes to mind (without the tigers).....not to mention scorpions, snakes, and other critters (depending upon the location). Regardless, I always pick-up helpful tips that I can use. Thanks!
Great Channel brother I'm sorry great Channel Friar Tuck stumbled across this video well watching your Viking videos God bless you son you are an inspiration thank you for your knowledge and expertise by the way I am 12 miles west of Detroit Michigan USA

Content for your website. Would be cool to see an 'Instruction' page maybe where you have different types of knots and how to make them maybe with a few picture examples. You can have a informational pages on what type of tents or sleeping bags for what temperatures. Bushcraft, what plants bushes or trees you can consume or use and in what ways and how. For people who want to learn by reading and seeing a few pic examples. In a nutshell : A manual for everything in a basic way i guess.

What'd be really awesome to see. Come to the states. Hit Minnesota and we will go hit the Paul Bunyan state forest.
Thank you for the positive feedback man, I will look into doing a video on this - Mike

I love your videos; but I wish they weren't so long. But I still watch them all.
You look like Robbin Hood in your poncho. Awesome!
im aroud 6.5 ft high and when i was in military this poncho felt like it was made for me :D man it was briliant on rainy windy days.
Yai! My favourite way of studying is while playing your videos Mike! Thanks for being such a good company (Sorry if I missspelled something, English is not my mother language)

I am a bit dyslexic I first read macho tent. then I saw you in the poncho and just fell of my chair laughing.
Keep up the great vids bro
Loving the beard Mike!! It's coming along nicely! Stick with it, it looks great on you!
haha cheers man! It's getting there!
i like the candle light lamp it is awesome
My vote is for the "bushcrafting" and DIY videos. Thanks for posting!
All of those things sound good for a website. Maybe even a little forum thing where people can ask you questions👍
Thanks for sharing your adventures in the woodlands. Enjoy your videos very much. Keep up the good work. Be well.
My brother and i love watching the super shelter videos, build another lol
Poncho collection i love
Truly well done, Sir!
Great video, I enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing it. Greetings from Croatia....👍
SquareSpace rocks. Thanks for the discount! Also this video rocks. Keep em coming!
Thanks for the video. Perfect length. I appreciate the effort you are putting into the overnight camps.
Awesome theme. I love the idea of theme camping
I want to see more bush craft stuff, TA. You are the best at it.
Nice trip video Mike! You should totally collate some of those journal pages and have them printed in a journal (with a bunch of blank pages) that your subscribers can buy on your site.
I really loved those instruction videos. The knots and especially the video on the tarp construction...
Mike i enjoy watching your videos.I learn alot.
Hi love your videos it is an inspiration for us and just wanted to say thank you and would like to se more of you guys make some video together with your dad and bushcraft Tools Dustin. And please little more fishing videos. Thanks
Great vid as always . Great option to make the lavvu more spacious without that centre pole . All the best to you and yours 👍
Another Great Video Mike, interesting and Engaging, keep them up please , Thanks, Robert.
Mike, another great video! What I have come to learn is that you have "tame" forests in the UK. Yep you pretty much nailed it man!
Mate, that saw is definitely the way to go.
Bushcraft videos are my vote! Love to see more. Love videos with that little tent of yours. Keep up the Great work!
Another awesome video....i love to watch all your videos ....even if I done seen them I go through them again....be safe and do what u keep doing
The David Brent of bush craft.
Great Channel brother I'm sorry great Channel Friar Tuck stumbled across this video well watching your Viking videos God bless you son you are an inspiration thank you for your knowledge and expertise by the way I am 12 miles west of Detroit Michigan USA
That is one sweet saw you got there 👍🏻
I love the lignum vitae handles on your knife, I would have never thought of using that wood for scales as it is rock hard, almost as hard as ebony. The wood is very oily and it will continue to age nicely, I have used lignum vitae for mallet heads and there is no finer wood for that, it was used traditionally in marine applications because of its extreme durability and resistance to rot, also as bearings because of the wear resistance. One tip for you is I would oil it with teak or walnut oil to ensure it doesn't crack from drying out being as thin as they are every so often, maybe twice a year. Love the vids and thanks for sharing
Cheers man, will do!
Wowwwww, 351K followers. Ive been with ya since about 45K maybe even less. Love your channel. I would like to see more wild camping/bushcraft style videos, maybe hunt and cook videos also. Keep the great videos coming !!!
Another great video! Thanks Mike!
Beard is looking awesome man! :)
Cool video. I'm glad you put links to all the gear you take with you. It makes it easier to look up. Thanks
Thanks for the video homeboy very cool ponchos
Always the very best!
Awesome as always!!! Keep it up love you and your Dad’s work!!!
What I'd like to see on your website: different ways of camping in nature, materials (natural, found, second hand, store bought), ways to make shelters, make fire, bushcraft, d.i.y., wild edibles, etc. ⛺
How tos are always a treat👍
so peaceful💕
I really like the poncho tent. Great video. The beard is coming along nicely. Looking forward to the next video.
I really like the bushcraft episodes. You helped me out greatly by recommending the slate stone to cook steak. I haven't been able to find a nice piece of slate yet but I will have one for my shelter next time I go out to the woods
Love the length of your videos it's actually worthwhile watching something longer in my opinion. Personally I would like to see more minimalistic bushcraft with maybe more coastal vids but keep up the good work and with your work ethic I'm sure your website ideas will be very successful
outstanding video! Thanks for including the little bits of ideas (like the bike tire inner tube as a strap/band).....stuff like that is so simple, yet so valuable.
Another great video Mike, poncho tent is really a neat idea. I also journal when I camp.
I made a video on how to set up the lavvu as well, but thanks for showing how to wear it!
Bushcraft and hunting awesome
Very well done mike
Thank you for this video. Very interesting and informative.
This is incredibly useful information. I'm so glad to see these skills have not been lost.
Really enjoyed it! Kept me from learning but hey i needed a break :) Thank you so much and i wish you all the best! Greetings from Germany.
you should have a commet section, and it would be nice to see tips and your trips on it.
and by the way, i love your videos. you are a huge inspiration to me, keep up the work!
3 days in the woods only with medival gear would be interesting.
3 days with no gear would be interesting
try this guy great channel
Yeah
22:35 "I owe it to the forest... to protect it" John Muir much? LOVE this guy !!
Great video as always Mike! Those Polish Ponchos really are awesome!
