I hate that everyone says that this is what Ellie would’ve wanted and Joel “took that away from her”. She was NEVER told that she could die providing a vaccine IF it was even successful. Ellie fully anticipated walking away from this with Joel. Marlene should’ve let her make her own choice knowing all probabilities. Marlene manipulated her way before Joel ever could.
Also even if she did… she’s 14 and feels immense guilt from not dying. Giving in to a suicide wish isn’t exactly a fair decision, she’s not in the right mind at all at this point.
@@chelscara 100%. Even if Marlene found out later that Ellie could die she had every opportunity to tell her before surgery what could happen and didn’t. Ellie was set up from the beginning. Joel had nothing to do with that.
Unfortunately you can see them planting the seeds for Part II with Marlene saying it's not for Joel to decide either, that Ellie would've wanted that and he knows it. That wasn't in the game (her saying it's not for Joel to decide either), she was 100% deciding it for her, and they're already preparing themselves to ruin the purposefully ambiguous ending by taking a side on Season 2 (making Joel the bad guy)

I know they wrote it to where the surgery would kill her so that theres emotional Stakes with the ending of the story. Having said that I don't see why they couldn't have just taken part of her brain and studied and reverse engineered the disease with that sample. it always seemed a little bit lazy how they wrote that in my opinion.
What an amazing adaptation to The Last Of Us Part 1. This was amazing.. yeah some meh moments but there are mostly great moments and loyalty to the source material. All actors did amazing and I could of not asked for a better cast! The new additions of characters and storylines were a welcoming addition too! Woulda loved to see more zombies though
Episode definitely felt rushed but overall was a solid finale. Whole season is a 8/10 for me. Looking forward to Part 2 and hopefully more infected incorporated into the series
I still think they miscast Joel & Ellie badly to get star power. Even the actress for Sarah was way too old, she looked like a Freshman in high school. I definitely enjoyed this show and it's a BIG step in the right direction for video game adaptations but my biggest issue wasn't even the casting as much as they skimmed over a lot of Joel & Ellie's bonding. I feel like it was rushed and we didn't really get to feel for their relationship as much as we did in the game, and maybe thats a show vs video game type of thing because a lot of their bonding was during gameplay as well as cut scenes but you could definitely, at least for me personally, feel the lack of bonding between Joel & Ellie in this show vs the game, so for me this final episode didn't hit the same as the final hospital level in the game. I still would give this show tho for all that it added a 7/10. But the heart of The Last of Us is Joel & Ellie's relationship so its definitely a C or C- for me but I am super happy for what this means for future video game adaptations if studios use this show as a reference for how to do it. Plus the attention of adapting certain scenes from the game to the show is used much more heavily than other video game adaptations and I love to see that 👌👏

My God Joel taking out the fireflies was everything I could've hoped for ashley Johnson killed it as always that was a greatest episode to a phenomenal season
I absolutely loved that Ashley Johnson played the mom and the poetry behind it you mentioned. I was laughing my ass off at the sequence where she passes down the ladder because it happens so many times in the game and it felt just like it. The whole hospital sequence also brought back a lot of the feelings I had when I first played it and was every bit as emotional for me. I am a bit worried it might be to quick to people who haven’t watched because I automatically knew what was going to happen but I don’t think it’s the case.
I had started the game halfway through the show and had finished it before episode 7. Ive been watching it with my cousins who had no idea how to story ended and the energy in the room was like nothing else. Entire room divided on their opinions. One of the best tv experiences Ive had for sure
I wish they would have made the hospital scene more intense. Alarms blaring, flashing lights, tense shootouts etc. But, I still love the angle they took. Joel was ruthless and they made it clear this was a violent, selfish decision that will (SPOILERS) ultimately lead to everything crumbling for Joel. Incredible adaptation
Man I think they did it the perfect way, the whole hospital segment is a total tragedy, you kinda root for Joel but you don’t approve the way his killing this soldiers
@@ChristianBritez34 Yeah they made it very clear that Joel was not the hero in this situation. I love how the story challenges us to understand Joel's actions at the end. It's very important for setting up part 2. We're going to be challenged all over again
Joel isn't supposed to be in danger there really hes not supposed to be the victim running for his life hes meant to systematically slaughter them he is the hunter and not the prey. I think they played it absolutely perfectly for what the scene is supposed to represent
As someone who has never played the game. This show blew away my expectations. Didn't expect to be so invested as I was. Can't wait to see what they do from here and might have to cop a console to play it.
The show was my first major introduction to the game. I've seen some gameplay here and there but never any full length playthroughs, but after looking up how detailed all these episodes were recreated from the game makes me want to pick up a copy soon as possible. I loved every second of the show and im excited to see what they will do with next season
Overall I really enjoyed this first season. They absolutely delivered on the moments that really mattered for fans of the game. I think the finale will definitely keep newcomers to this story interested in seeing what happens in season 2. How much they enjoy season 2, well that is yet to be determined lol
Great reaction cody. I was never able to have children, but with that being said I would have done the same thing as joel did. I really enjoyed the episode alot, joel went beast mode on the fireflies. I normally don't like endings like this but I understand why it was done that way. I just wonder how ellie is going to feel about Joel's actions, is she going to be mad or will she understand that he did it because he didn't wanna lose another daughter. I guess I will just have to wait until next season. This season took me on a rollercoaster of emotions that I was not prepared for.
Man, this season went by so damn fast. I'm so curious now to see the unfinished cut with the giraffes lol. Thanks for the series man, looked forward to these as much as the episodes.
So just finished watching the finale and gotta say it was fantastic throughout. Finally going to play through the 2 games in wait for season 2😁 Great video as usual Cody! Should've took your advice and played the games alot sooner
Awesome episode. I will say i hear alot of people complaining about the show feeling not as dangerous as the game. Less infected, less hostile people ect. And it does feel that way. But alot of those gameplay sequences are there for gameplay. It wouldn't feel the same for the show. But TWD did make the threat of zombies constant. It was something the survivors had to deal with. Constant threat. And I get it, this show does lack that but I'm not missing it personally. Or don't notice it I should say. I'm loving the show. And I knew the finale was going to be my favorite and it was. Simple cause of "The Decision" and what it means for Joel, why he did it, was it the right choice? ect. And the choice to lie to ellie. All this sets up season 2 perfectly. Ya'll ain't ready. And I hope they still have the balls to translate it just like TLOU 2. Those that know, know. They need to do it. This finale really shows you why it comes to that to.
I only played a 3rd of the game. Still need to finish so got a lot of the references but had no idea about David or the way the story ended. It hit me so hard that has cemented this story as one of my favorites and the show as well.
I binged 4 episodes on friday, and then the other 4 yesterday and just finished the finale All i can say as a HARDCORE TLOU fan for the past decade, i have the ellie prequel comic american dream from dark horse, i bought every version of the first game and everything and i just gotta say they nailed so much, I don't have but very minor complaints, they condensed and adapted it so well, A- from a diehard
I appreciate all the new things added to the show. Joel saying he tried to kill himself but failed was very impactful and will make a replay of the game more impactful as well
Love that they had the opening show what happened to Ellie’s mother Anna and also have be played by Ashley Johnson (Ellie’s voice actor for the game) it’s just like poetry it rhymes
This was a really great episode. I like they added the scene of Ellie's mom and I liked how they casted Ashley Johnson to play her and even thought it was interesting they added that detail of maybe she was immune from her mom's bite. The scene of Joel making his way to save Ellie and shooting all of the fireflies was translated very well, but like you said the games version of the scene was better but I do like both scenes. I thought it was a cool detail they added of one of the soldiers surrendering and Joel kills him which shows how Joel was brutal and ruthless in the scene. And even liked how they did the scenes from the games very well, like Joel and Marlene's confrontation in the end and Joel and Elie's scene at the end. Speaking of actors from the game who showed up in the show. In the credits you can see Laura Bailey (who plays Abby in part 2) had a cameo in the episode. Which she played one of the nurses in the episode, just like she voiced the nurse in the first game.
Nice opening with Ashley being Ellie’s mom, it felt like a full circle moment. I don’t think the hospital scene was as intense as the game especially the part where Joel is running away w/ ellie in his arms trying to dodge the gunfire. Felt like they could’ve done more there. However, I like how the ending is exactly like the game, especially with the end credits score which I love. The episode could’ve and should’ve been longer than 43 minutes but overall it was a solid season finale
I would have given Ellie a choice. Told her everything that was going to happen and then let her choose. I would've held Marlene at gunpoint and say 'we do what Ellie wants'
This. I mean after only experiencing the show myself it’s kind of like he kidnapped her and lied to her about it. He did an objectively bad thing and was selfish.
Really loved this episode the only thing that I thought was weird is the finale lines when Ellie tells Joel to swear to her just the acting in that part felt off to me but otherwise amazing finale
Really dropped the ball on the hospital scene in my opinion. They blew through one of the most tense scenes from the game. Great episode, but poorly executed. Should’ve been longer than 50 mins.
100% agree. I loved everything they included here and it all looks and feels fantastic! Unfortunately, this is the end of the season AND the game! They should have let it breathe a little bit. We got like 6 minutes total of the entire hospital sequence here. I feel like that was a bit of a missed opportunity, even though I recognize it was a creative choice for the series. Just hate that everything felt so rushed. Why so quick??? Why did we cram this entire story into 9 REALLY tight episodes? 🤷♂️ I just don’t get it.
@Cody now I just have to hope the upcoming Fallout series is 1/2 this good man was the show done well with love and care to the universe. Thanks Cody from all of LOU fans was fun to see you come from loving the games previously as well as a huge horror reviewer :)
Was Rushed. Hour and half or two hours was needed. Still respectful to the ending of a great story. The video game ending was extremely intensive. Better than the television version, but the adaptation was still excellent.
First time they REALLY disappointed this season was the hospital scene tbh. It was literally the shortest episode of the season too it’s not like they couldn’t have stretched it out like 10-20 minutes to make it way more epic.
Since Ellie wasn't unconscious when she met them surly she had to have at least one conversation while she was getting undressed for surgery. Unless they knocked her out and undressed her. It doesn't make as much sense for her to be so in the dark about everything at the end. I mean why wouldn't the Fireflies just tell her? Unless that's the point they are trying to get across.
@Dishonestney they never asked her they just did the test to find the source and then prepped her up for surgery. She's the possible cure for the pandemic they were not gonna wake her up to ask if it's ok to kill her. After 20 years they were just going to kill her and make a cure. In that world it's "the ends justify the means" kinda world.
I have not played the game, but I loved the finale. The ONLY thing I didn't like was that he lied to Ellie at the end but everything else was amazing, especially the massacre scene, right down to the sound of it all and the way it was done.
Not familiar with the game. But this series has some of the most exceptional character building. By the end of the episode I was speechless.... floored. And all other synonyms LOL
This episode was painfully rushed, I like they have an explanation for why the cure theoretically could work. But I wish the series had delved more into the nuance of the fireflies given they clearly are not a wholly good organisation
Like for part 2 and season two I know people will not like that much change so quick and it’s different for tv shows and video games it’s about ratings and shit and they have the key to flesh out and write an awesome in between seasons they have the actual writer and creator so I know they are in good hands im super excited and grateful for what they did fucking amazing
I don't have children myself but I know that if I did I would side with Joel without hesitation. They did a great job adapting the game 2 live action and even added in some interesting elements that weren't in the game. My two biggest issues were the last two episodes though. I feel like they rushed the second to last episode. There was more than enough material to flush that out for two episodes. I feel the same about the final episode. There was enough material to extend that to an additional episode. All-in-all do the best video game adaptation I think I've ever seen. I give it a 4.5/5
As someone who never played the game, I throughly enjoyed this season. And the scene you are talking about where Joel basically says she healed him, got me. So beautifully portrayed. But after that scene, I knew Joel was not going to let her die. So I agreed with his decision, even though it was selfish.
I feel like the world is your world, its based on the people u love and are around that makes up ur life, If I was in joels position I woulda did the same, u cant tear my heart out cuz I just got it back, I feel like us as viewers see alot of ourselves in joel, whats the worlds worth of living if I don't have the one thing I love in it, and this show is just so damn good!
As someone who got the game on release day I loved this series. Unlike some extreme gamers that want the show to be 100% like the game you can't have that. There has to be some compromises to also make this accessible for non-gamers to like this. The only thing out of this series I didn't care and felt pointless was the character Kathleen. The actress was great just the character felt like nothing more as a cog in the machine to ensure it leads to sam getting infected. But other than that the show was great and for me, it's the best video game adaptation ever made.
As someone who has mostly hazy memories of playing the game in 2013, the show overall did a damn good job. I would have liked seeing more of what happened between Episodes 5 and 6, and made Episode 8 a bit longer, but those are really my only complaints.
I feel like a part of Ellie wouldn't want the cure to be made only because of the fact she knows there's people in the world like David who don't deserve it.
Everyone who watched the series, I emplore you to play the games, they are as you know now from the series a masterpiece of a relevant story in the world we now live in, you see the struggle of Joel and Ellie cross country against infected/gangs surviving in a Stunning post apocalyptic America , The Game is where the True story is
***SPOILERS FOR KNOCK AT THE CABIN I totally agree with what you said about how easy Joel's choice would have been to make, despite the consequences. I think Knock at the Cabin, which had a similar dilemma / similar themes, would have been more effective with a similar ending.
I'm new to Last of Us. No game knowledge at all, but overall I really enjoyed the whole series. But, with Joel's decision I believe I would be on his side. Especially because who know if trying the cordysep thing on Ellie would even work or have the outcome Marlene is hoping for.
🥴”not enough violence and action and mayhem”- Every game players gripe with this show. They don’t always admit it, but it’s pretty clear considering how universally loved this show has been… and how faithful to the game it is. So there’s really no other reason to dislike the show. (So be careful you don’t end up on a watch list for your need to watch violence comments) Would 1 more action sequence against infected be great? Sure, but I don’t need it. This was one of the very best seasons of any show I’ve seen in a long time. I’ve never been more invested and moved by a relationship between 2 characters since maybe Walt and Jesse in Breaking Bad, which took several seasons before it really reached that point. The Last of Us season 1 is an incredible achievement that deserves to be celebrated and not criticized for simply being less (unrealistically) violent than the source material.
I side with Joel all the way with zero doubt! as soon as I figured out what they wanted to do I instantly got that rage lol but I agree the quik pace killing montage didn't hit as hard as it could have
Not gonna lie, this finale was pretty underwhelming. This needed to be two episodes and fully pay off all of the set up. Also that lady that shows up again didn’t feel that developed and when she dies, I just don’t feel anything. Also there are way too many flashback scenes that could’ve been way shorter. The 2 last episodes as a whole, just didn’t feel as good as the rest of the episodes. When you get to the end, it ends pretty quick and I just didn’t feel satisfied. Overall, a good season, but it could’ve been better.
I was really expecting this last episode to be more ….. idk but it was lackluster for me. Seemed like it didn’t leave a cliffhanger or anything exciting to look forward to. I thought for the last episode of the season it would’ve built up some anticipation. Guess we will see if season 2 will keep the momentum/quality or if it’ll slowly die off…
I really love this channel and watched most of the uploads(some of them even more than once) and I usually agree with Cody on most things. I think this show is very mediocre compared to its source material and insane budget. I have 3 main problems with the show: 3. with so many detour episodes, the show should have been 10-12 episodes at the very least. 2. I know The Last Of Us is not only about the action, but it has way more than depicted on the show. 1. The journey really feels short to me and the ending was rushed, specially the last two episodes, and not as epic as the game. there were some things I really liked like the first episode, and specially that opening scene. I loved the casting of Tommy, The Professor from the opening scene, Marlene, Sam, Henry and Kathleen(I actually liked this original character) David was decent but they could have focused on him way more. it’s a 6.3/10 for me but I’m glad a lot of people liked it because the show at least tried to be good and respect the source material. I just wished the execution was better
I am SO glad I watched the show with no knowledge of the game. I had no idea this is where the plot was going, but this was almost "Gone Baby Gone" level in terms of morality arguments. This final episode may have catapulted the show from really good to one of the best shows I have ever watched. And yes, as a parent, I totally side with Joel. Just like I sided with Walter White wanting to leave money behind for his family. I think we have a new anti-hero.
I’ve not seen the game I’m watching it and I’m thinking: damn if that isn’t my exit. Pause it, zoom in, they’re under the Salt Lake freeway- that was awesome to see. Maybe the giraffes made in down from Hogle Zoo. I’ve loved this story. And yes, I side with Joel. Humanity isn’t worth saving anyway. Will miss this series and the reviews!
As much as i appreciate the show and Pedro, nothing compares to Troy Bakers performance performance!!! The show got it wrong. I as joell killed everyone in operating room!!
For me the show didn’t really captured the threat level of the game as well as epicness of the journey… there were some really cool moments but to me it needed more episodes to capture the magic as well as more infected(yes, there weren’t that many in the game but there was way more than in the show). I think Cody had the best experience because he watched it in a binge format, I would sure have preferred to watch it in a binge instead of weekly releases. Anyway, Mortal Kombat(1995) remains my favourite video game Adaptation to date, but I’m glad most of you really enjoyed it…
Labelling the TLOU story as "epic" is so bizarre... It's probably the most understated PlayStation IP out there. And TLOU has always been a drama... All of the infected stuff is literally the least interesting/memorable aspect of those games.

Enjoyed it. Also, I think Joel's decision was at least understandable based on the fact that there was no guarantee that Ellie's sacrifice would actually amount to a cure/vaccine. It would have been an enormous risk. Perhaps if they'd begun by simply extracting some of her cerebrospinal fluid for study and experimentation to see if that would be enough to get started, sure. But just immediately going in and harvesting her brain outright? No. Can't fully blame Joel in that rather extreme and inexplicable situation, really.
@@b.u.l.1734 Agreed, it doesn't excuse murder, it just provides context. I don't think it was the right thing to do, I just understand why he did it. If both sides (and Ellie most of all) had discussed things honestly like rational people prior to attempting any medical procedures, I think the outcome could have been different. Maybe. Or maybe it would have been the same. 😬
I think the explanation of how Ellie is immune changes the morality a little. Without that explanation the natural assumption is a natural genetic mutation. This means that while Ellie might be unique at that time she wont remain that way. Others will develop that same immunity in time. However the fact she got it essentially the same way as Blade means she is unique. Joel's decision doomed humanity indefinitely.
My favorite episode of the season. This was the best video game adaptation I've ever seen and the fact that it's The Last of Us, my favorite video game, makes it even better.
Honestly I think the shows adaption justifies Joel’s actions more than the game did . I’n the game Ellie is unconscious when the fireflies capture them. Where there isn’t time to get her consent to do surgery but the show she conscious where they could have told her the surgery will end her life. The thing is Ellie would have agreed to it and maybe would have spoken and convinced Joel to do the surgery. All in all any of us would do what Joel did.
What a ride! And now, we begin the long wait for Season 2. Imma say this right now, the backlash Neil Druckmann unfairly received over Last of Us 2 for 3 years better not come to pass for Season 2. If it does, I will lose it. I love Joel and Ellie too, but that doesn't/shouldn't negate the important story that was told. Straight up.
Great finale. I am confused by one thing, if Marlene raised Ellie from birth why don't they have a mother and daughter relationship? Ellie acted like she didn't know who Marlene was during the Riley episode. I thought that was odd. 🤔
I side with Joel. The cure was theorised but it wasn't concrete. If it would inevitably become real and saved the world i'd side with marlene but we don't know it 100% and the fireflies didn't either.
The Fireflies were wrong to try to perform a life-ending surgery on a child without her consent, and Joel was wrong to lie to Ellie. There are no clear good guys here.
I didn't think this season of television was amazing. I also didn't hate it. I thought it was perfectly fine. As someone who never played the game, that is. I liked Bella Ramsey, and I liked several things about the show. I also don't quite understand the mega hype for this show. I didn't blow me away. It was just okay. And there's nothing wrong with being okay. Maybe I just missed something, but all art is subjective, after all.
I didn’t play the game and experienced this for the first time. He obviously made the right decision, no way a person could live with themself if they chose the opposite. Yet again there’s the burden of not helping the greater good. But I side with Joel
Tbh, I don't think it's an either/or situation when it comes to whether Joel or Marlene is right. If I was Joel, I would have saved Ellie and if I was Marlene, I would have saved the world. That's what was really interesting to me with this finale, that both of them did what was right from their position. Saving the world is obviously the objectively right decision, but even from a philosophical PoV, there can be strong arguments that anyone in Joel's position is justified to do what he did

Man I think they did it the perfect way, the whole hospital segment is a total tragedy, you kinda root for Joel but you don’t approve the way his killing this soldiers
He also killed someone with Ellies switchblade which adds something to it
@@ChristianBritez34 Yeah they made it very clear that Joel was not the hero in this situation. I love how the story challenges us to understand Joel's actions at the end.
It's very important for setting up part 2. We're going to be challenged all over again
It was more than good. Lol
Joel isn't supposed to be in danger there really
hes not supposed to be the victim running for his life
hes meant to systematically slaughter them
he is the hunter and not the prey.
I think they played it absolutely perfectly for what the scene is supposed to represent
As someone who has never played the game. This show blew away my expectations. Didn't expect to be so invested as I was. Can't wait to see what they do from here and might have to cop a console to play it.
If you thought this was a roller coaster, the 2nd game takes it to another level. Glad to see people who’ve never played the game enjoy the show 🙌🏼
The show was my first major introduction to the game. I've seen some gameplay here and there but never any full length playthroughs, but after looking up how detailed all these episodes were recreated from the game makes me want to pick up a copy soon as possible. I loved every second of the show and im excited to see what they will do with next season
Never played the game so this was all new to me. When Marlene said surgery and I realized they’d kill Ellie I was like “kill everyone save Ellie”. 😂
😂
I did. In game i killed every doctor in the room. Not just the one main doctor like in show.
Find out in season 2 😊
Man, this season went by so damn fast. I'm so curious now to see the unfinished cut with the giraffes lol. Thanks for the series man, looked forward to these as much as the episodes.
So just finished watching the finale and gotta say it was fantastic throughout.
Finally going to play through the 2 games in wait for season 2😁
Great video as usual Cody!
I binged 4 episodes on friday, and then the other 4 yesterday and just finished the finale
All i can say as a HARDCORE TLOU fan for the past decade, i have the ellie prequel comic american dream from dark horse, i bought every version of the first game and everything and i just gotta say
they nailed so much, I don't have but very minor complaints, they condensed and adapted it so well, A- from a diehard
I appreciate all the new things added to the show. Joel saying he tried to kill himself but failed was very impactful and will make a replay of the game more impactful as well
@@littlepoodle7443 agreed, and having ashley johnson be ellies mother is beautiful
Love that they had the opening show what happened to Ellie’s mother Anna and also have be played by Ashley Johnson (Ellie’s voice actor for the game) it’s just like poetry it rhymes
Threw me off a little hearing Ellie playing Ellie's mom lol
@@ghostofmoredishesmorebitch1507 I get that but then again it’s not unheard of daughters sounding a lot like their mothers
@@danielfrank2985 you tell em George Lucas.
Pacing of the show is horrendous. Felt like they went through all that within a month
The correct answer is not to side with Marlene or Joel. Neither one was willing to allow Ellie to make a choice.
I like that answer.
Thats what makes this episode so compelling.
It aint black & white.
This. I mean after only experiencing the show myself it’s kind of like he kidnapped her and lied to her about it. He did an objectively bad thing and was selfish.
Joel going full Terminator was so awesome to see. Finally the hardcore Joel came out!!
Really loved this episode the only thing that I thought was weird is the finale lines when Ellie tells Joel to swear to her just the acting in that part felt off to me but otherwise amazing finale
SATISFIED DOESN’T BEGIN TO DESCRIBE HOW I FEEL ABOUT THIS SHOW! BRING ON SEASON 2 😎
Really dropped the ball on the hospital scene in my opinion. They blew through one of the most tense scenes from the game. Great episode, but poorly executed. Should’ve been longer than 50 mins.
It did feel too short.
I played the game for the 3rd time a day before the first episode aired. This makes me just want to play it again.
Loved the final episode... But would it have killed them to film an extra 15 minutes to add more tension? It seemed rushed.
100% agree!
Fun fact though, there's an article that says HBO Max is releasing a bonus episode
Not familiar with the game. But this series has some of the most exceptional character building. By the end of the episode I was speechless.... floored. And all other synonyms LOL
Play the game ASAP. You owe it to yourself. Been gaming my whole life and TLoU is prob my fave game of all time. Pick up the remake and enjoy 👍
Still my favorite video game ending it was originally written as a stand alone that naughty dog didn't intend to make a sequel for
It is a life rewarding experience , playing the characters in this game, it's not a game it is an experience
You should definitely Part 1 and Part 2. Best video game series of all time in my opinion.
@@TheAfricanGrey 100% 👍
Cody will probably do a ranking of best villains and moments video
I remember clapping as the credits rolled the first time i finished the first game. I think TLOU is one of the greatest games ever made.
I really missed the alarm from the game, seems small but it added so much especially in the Abby nightmare/flashback from Part 2
I give it a 4.5/5
Finished watching the Season 1 Finale & I fucking loved it. The Last of Us Season 1 is one of the greatest TV Shows of All Time!
As someone who never played the game, I throughly enjoyed this season. And the scene you are talking about where Joel basically says she healed him, got me. So beautifully portrayed. But after that scene, I knew Joel was not going to let her die. So I agreed with his decision, even though it was selfish.
Darn…saw the noti…hoped it was the Scream spoiler review 😂
When Joel said "It's Joelin time" that was truly a moment of all time.

I wouldn't even sacrifice one of my students for the world, so I don't see how a parent could sacrifice their own kid.
Great season.... and I hate to be that guy, but are you doing an episode ranking? That would be tough
Everyone who watched the series, I emplore you to play the games, they are as you know now from the series a masterpiece of a relevant story in the world we now live in, you see the struggle of Joel and Ellie cross country against infected/gangs surviving in a Stunning post apocalyptic America , The Game is where the True story is
***SPOILERS FOR KNOCK AT THE CABIN
I totally agree with what you said about how easy Joel's choice would have been to make, despite the consequences. I think Knock at the Cabin, which had a similar dilemma / similar themes, would have been more effective with a similar ending.
Does the game end like the show did? So abruptly
THERES A LACK OF ZOMBIES
I side with Joel all the way with zero doubt! as soon as I figured out what they wanted to do I instantly got that rage lol but I agree the quik pace killing montage didn't hit as hard as it could have
One of the nurses was the one that voiced Abby in the video game
Very cool. I didn't know that.
@@CodyLeachYT noticed the name at the end credits
Guess we will see if season 2 will keep the momentum/quality or if it’ll slowly die off…
I mean that’s literally how the game ends, it’s a contained story. Not everything needs a cliffhanger, but I can understand your gripes.
Yup that brought back too many emotions
Not sure why the last episide had to be so short
This was a great show but i feel it was rushed and need 2 more episode at least.
I loved the finale, it felt like I was playing the game again for the umpteenth time & that’s a good thing.
This episode was shot in my city!
What city?

When they showed the doctor dead. I was like ohh boy season 2 going be wild
I really love this channel and watched most of the uploads(some of them even more than once) and I usually agree with Cody on most things.
I think this show is very mediocre compared to its source material and insane budget. I have 3 main problems with the show:
3. with so many detour episodes, the show should have been 10-12 episodes at the very least.
Joel did the right thing. No questions asked. I would’ve done the same thing! ❤
Anyway, Mortal Kombat(1995) remains my favourite video game Adaptation to date, but I’m glad most of you really enjoyed it…
This sums up the show in a nutshell. It's good, but not epic. It's more drama than zombie survival.
Labelling the TLOU story as "epic" is so bizarre... It's probably the most understated PlayStation IP out there.
And TLOU has always been a drama... All of the infected stuff is literally the least interesting/memorable aspect of those games.
@@b.u.l.1734 fax, it’s literally a drama first lol

Doesn't really give Joel the right to massacre an entire hospital full of people either, lol.
Season 2 will be crazy ! It definitely needs some time before airing. Ellie’s character needs to age a bit lol
12:58 as a rational human Joel definitely made the wrong decision. As a mother I would have done the same thing
This was my favorite episode of the season and the most loyal to the game.
Love it!!!!!!!
Yeh feel the same also....
Confused
First time watching/knowing about this story. I'm team Joel.
I wonder who they will cast to play Abby.
