1. I love this kind of production footage, thanks so much for posting it 2. I wasn't going to see this movie until reviews said it was great, so thanks for actually caring about quality! 3. I think I'm in love with you
The most impressive thing is seeing a lit and not scary at all scene turn into something of nightmares! The vision a director and the tech team have to have is impressive...
David, please don't forget to do a Director's Commentary for Annabelle! I listened to your (and Lotta's) Lights Out commentary twice already. Thank you!!!
WOW just came back from watching Annabelle Creation, and I wanted to let you know that my theater was packed and EVERYONE was clapping at the end of the film. I haven't seen that happen in a long time! Needless to say, it was AMAZING. Definitely my favorite horror movie of the year!
I remember making you a Lights Out poster and when I put it on Twitter you liked it! That made my day! Also, this series is impeccable David. Nice to see into the world of directing without all the unnecessary filler footage most videos on UA-cam do. Major props!
Omg you are starting to be one of my favorites directors. I'm going to watch the movie the day that it comes up in Mexico with my friends. I'm super excited for that, i hope it doesn't disappoint me, but, i really don't think so. Love your techniques!
i'm so glad you got to show more of your skills in this movie rather than just in Lights Out. Annabelle Creation was so well made and terrifying at the same time lol
David, I'm so loving these BTS series of Annabelle Creation. I'm learning SO much from you. Thank you for giving back to us and sharing all your thoughts and skills on filmmaking. I'm watching Annabelle Creation tomorrow night! Can't wait!
I can't wait for tomorrow. Especially after seeing some of the behind the scenes. Everything you touch David it turns to GOLD. Amazing and thanks again for making videos like these for everyone to watch and learn.
David, I just got back from Annabelle: Creation, and it thorough entertainment. You knocked it out of the park. Also, it was great seeing snippets of Attic Panic in the film.
I think Annabelle: Creation was honesty one of the best Movies i have ever seen, it was scary it was intense it was sad, for me this is a masterpiece really good work!
Went to see the movie yesterday and really enjoyed it. You are a master at making the darkness talk and letting the unseen build the tension. Like HP Lovecraft said: “The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown.” The actors also did a great job under your direction. Thank you for these videos as well! Extremely interesting stuff.
I just got back from seeing Annabelle Creation at an early screening and I have to say that it was one of the scariest movies I've ever watched. I have to applaud you. You and everyone working on the movie we're great, especially Talitha and Lulu's acting. You seriously did something great here.
This is awesome thanks for sharing the often never seen process. Your work has always blown me away, what you have done on a no budget budget. And now with a big budget simply amazing.
David, Thanks a lot for this series. I was also in the past looking for this kind of content in DVDS within the extras but fortunately internet changed that and is amazing that you are sharing this to all filmmakers or any curious people out there. Is really great since gives you an idea of the feeling that is to be in a film production. Must say that was not planning to see "Annabelle: Creation" but after seeing these videos I think is a MUST. All the best!
it's unfortunate that not many filmmakers delve into the behind the scenes and discuss it the way you do, i have not seen lights out, i will soon, i have loved your shorts and i'm excited to watch annabelle! you are an inspiration and have made me appreciate horror much more =)
Can't wait to see this movie. Lights out was a great movie. Its been a while since I've really enjoyed a good horror movie. I wasn't too keen about watching Annabelle until I found out it was directed by you. Wishing you much success in the industry.
Hey David. If you say that working for hours is awesome, that means that you LOVE your job, and that's the key of success. Congrats man, a lot of people wish to be like you. Keep going man. Cheers from Mcallen TX.
David. These breakdowns are invaluable. Keep up the good work. It has a been pleasure to watch you grow as creator and director as we go on this journey with you. Can't wait to see what you have planned for Shazam!
I was so happy to see Annabelle Creation two weeks ago. I just wish I get casted for any conjuring universe film but I really loved Annabelle Creation. I would also love to get a Annabelle doll
A video everyday... Can we make this a regular thing? Thanks so much for the inspiration. Can't wait to see Annabelle tomorrow. The horror genre has always been my favorite.
Hi David. I love your movies and youtube videos. Your work is very inspiring. I was wondering if you are going to make that "Directing ... - Part .." videos on Shazam movie after you are done filming it. Can't wait for it.
Dream job to be working on a set like this someday. Idc if I have to start out sweeping floors to work my way up. I don't think I'll ever be happy in a career until i can get to this. Thanks for showing this
This is very enlightening and encouraging for me as a video student. It really made my creative juices flow as I think of my next horror movie. Thank you!
Hi, thank you so much for making these videos! I have one question, when you cue certain elements in the scene like saying 'DOOR!' to cue the door slamming, is the audio in the final product not from the actual production and from ADR, Foley Sounds, etc.? Or is your voice/audible cue removed in post with some fancy sound mixing and editing work? Thanks!
Thank you for this, it's so interesting to watch, i've learn a lot with you. even if i'm not a film maker i love everything you teach and share. By the way i'm going to see Annabelle tomorrow with my girlfriend :D ! i can't wait !!!!
Watched the movie, posted on the reddit discussion and came here! Thanks for your hard work. My friends and I had a blast cowering in our seats. David, how was going over the script for a film like this?
Parallax Peak Yeah man, they announced during comic con that he will helm Shazam that is due out in 2019. Amazing right? 0 budget short films to superhero movie.
Hey buddy. So at what point do you decide you need multiple camera setups? In this barn scene you have used 3 I think? and otherwise it's just 1. Could you explain? Thanks
I love these and I too only buy dvd/bluray for their BTS stuff. Are you allowed to just dump all (or longer and even unnarrated) BTS footage online? I would love to just watch and listen to them.
Hey, I love this series! I’m curious about the audio in clips that you are directing while the camera is rolling-do you do sound effects simply in post on those specific clips that have your voice in the background? (Or were those clips from this bts video just rehearsals? Specifically from 7:00 and the subsequent takes from that shot). Thanks, I’m an aspiring filmmaker and always love learning about other filmmaker’s workflows.

The most impressive thing is seeing a lit and not scary at all scene turn into something of nightmares! The vision a director and the tech team have to have is impressive...
Man, being an actor/actress is exhausting. Kudos to the kids.
David, please don't forget to do a Director's Commentary for Annabelle! I listened to your (and Lotta's) Lights Out commentary twice already. Thank you!!!
+Sarah Le I already recorded one so it will be on the DVD/blu-ray this time.
You ROCK, David! Thank you thank you! You're my film school. :)

It’s so weird seeing the footage without sounds, music, effects, and color grading
i'm so glad you got to show more of your skills in this movie rather than just in Lights Out. Annabelle Creation was so well made and terrifying at the same time lol
Just got home from watching this and you did an amazing job mate! Big things from you in the future!
David, I'm so loving these BTS series of Annabelle Creation. I'm learning SO much from you. Thank you for giving back to us and sharing all your thoughts and skills on filmmaking. I'm watching Annabelle Creation tomorrow night! Can't wait!

Priceless BTS. You're so amazing for putting these together. Connected so much with this episode. Thanks!
I can't wait for tomorrow. Especially after seeing some of the behind the scenes. Everything you touch David it turns to GOLD. Amazing and thanks again for making videos like these for everyone to watch and learn.

Can't wait to see this movie. Lights out was a great movie. Its been a while since I've really enjoyed a good horror movie. I wasn't too keen about watching Annabelle until I found out it was directed by you. Wishing you much success in the industry.

You're awesome!
watching this BTS makes me wanna work in a Hollywood movie so bad. Like being on set and doing all these cool things.
I fallow this guy since lights out
Seeing it today on the WB lot! 😆😎😁
learnt alot!!
I'm curious, is the movie mostly shot in chronological order, or in quote on quote "Random" order?
+MBL Designs It depends. Since this was shot on a sound stage all the interiors were shot first and then all the exteriors on location.
neither, Im sure its a schedule for the best way to shoot things.
Also, it's usually a few night scenes will be filmed in a single night
its shot in the order that makes most sense like what days and times are the team and locations available
I am loving these series wow. It even makes me wanna watch the movie and i hate horror films hahaha
Watched the movie, posted on the reddit discussion and came here! Thanks for your hard work. My friends and I had a blast cowering in our seats. David, how was going over the script for a film like this?
YAY! There's going to more :D
when will it be in cinemas coz some people are saying that it's out in 11 Aug and some day in 17??
I wish I was an actor
thanks a lot!
You are a true inspiration David. Will you be doing the same for Shazam? Because I want it so bad now that I've seen this.
wow he's directing that?
Parallax Peak Yeah man, they announced during comic con that he will helm Shazam that is due out in 2019. Amazing right? 0 budget short films to superhero movie.
Im next
nice work
Loving this series. Just curious, will you still be making an occasional short film on your own again?
Fucking Nice mane
People here are aspiring to be a director/ filmmaker but for me im really wanting to act in a horror flick so bad LMAO
Why didn't they put the 'It's not real' scene from the trailer in the movie. I thought it was great.
Were can we find audtions for your movies
I would love to work with you! Brilliant!
Will these be part of a DVD special features.
+Antonio Rivera That's the plan yes. I had to do some minor cuts and alterations for that though (like blurring soda cans).
+ponysmasher. Yeah the logo thing i get it.
Hi I love y’all so much 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🤡🤡💜💜

Hi David! I was wondering, what do you use to edit your short films?
