Yeah, exactly. Kita is used to the repetition, that repetition made him become disciplined. I think this is why a lot of fans love him. And a huge chunk of them, me included, strive to have at least a bit of his discipline.
Now that you mention it, Kita and Bokuto have the same eye and hair colour. They also have split, animal-like pupils too. I remember there's arts and fanfictions of them styling each others' hair, switched places or personalities based on that.
Kita is really similar to Akashi in some aspects, the difference is that what Akashi does with Bokuto to keep him in check, Kita does with an entire team, he just a natural Leader

A small trivia: Each Inarizaki members are designed and named after species of foxes: - Arctic fox for Kita (although he's named after the ezo red fox) - Bat-eared fox for Omimi - Ruppell's fox for Aran - Red panda for Akagi - Silver fox for Gin - Tibetan fox for Suna (you can search for images of them, they really look like him 😂) Onto the episode. Kita is a simple guy, he looks perfect but that perfection doesn't come out of nowhere but built through his routines. His quotes are meaningful as well, really got me rethink about them after hearing. There's also a trend that, whenever there's a series of tests coming up, people set their social media icons to Kita to pray for good grades and boost their confidence. It's so popular that instead of calling that period of time "test period", we call it "Kita season".

I was looking forward to Kita's entry. Tbh when I saw his backstory, for a min I forgot which team I was supporting. Haikyu just shows us these relatable characters we can't help but liking. The way Kita was crying and how he got the jersey after so many years of hardwork and disciplined routine always gets me.
While I see where you're coming from, I don't think Kita has OCD, he's just a guy with rituals and he sticks to his routine. I have OCD, of course I can't talk for everyone with it but our responses and compulsions often come from some sort of unreasonable fear, which I don't see in Kita. The thing with Kita is that he learned with him grandma that "the gods are always watching", and that he having his routine and being methodical will make up in the future, later on he said that he doesn't really belive in gods, but in the end SOMEONE(even tho wasn't a god) WAS indeed watching he being the way he is, which was the Inarizaki coach. And the thing is that he having his routine and being mature, he knows what he can and can't do, and what he trains and does in the routine he does PERFECTLY in the game, which makes him incredible reliable, even tho hes not as flashy and skilled as some1 like Atsumu, that's what the coach meant when he said that the Miyas cause despair on their enemies, and Kita helps to prolong that, to keep the pressuve and keep enemy from striking back or recovering, which is even more terrible for Karasuno's morale. I love Kita's character, he's just a mature, reliable and honest person, and even tho he LOOKS like a robot, hes just a high schooler, that cried like a baby when FINALY got his first uniform.
I think that the idea that someone is always watching also speaks to the fact that, if that's true there's no reason to feel stage fright since, even if in a "real match" or a "real performance" there's many eyes on you, even during training there were already many eyes on you. So it's basically something like if you didn't get nervous then, why would you get nervous in the real deal? After all "someone is always watching".
Kita's backstory is wholesome for sure. It's the idea that if you show yourself to be hard working and dedicated, the "somebody always watching" will notice you. In this case, it was his team's coach. Kita may not be a godlike player, but he's methodical, disciplined and reliable, making him ideal for the captain. I guess he never got to play in his first and second years due to not having crazy technique, but he eventually got his uniform through sheer commitment.
13:03 OMG the one who served is Masahiro Sekita aka Japan's Tiny Giant genius setter aka my fave irl vb player alongside Nishida. Sorry hahaha I just got so excited seeing him in your vid... It's not just his serves and setting that's impressive too. At only 1.75 m (5 ft 9 in) tall, he can do one-on-one kill blocks against taller foreign athletes, and of course he's a decent receiver/digger too. Fun fact for vb junkies, his team with Yanagida as ace/captain and him as setter won the Spring Tournament back when they were only 2nd years (at that time the Spring Tourney was actually held in spring so 3rd yrs couldn't join, meaning it was also their last participation in the tournament). It was the first time their school won the championship too.
I think the reason why I love Kita so much as a character is not necessarily because I relate to his personality or find his values admirable (I do for sure but that's not the main reason why I love him). When I was reading the manga at this point I was just utterly amazed at how perfectly the author managed to introduce a character with such limited screentime and still make him seem so fleshed out and realistic. Watching so many people react to this series and witness their different reactions to Kita and how the character captivates them in a variety of ways is a testament to this imo

It’s definitely not OCD. He isn’t compulsive and doesn’t feel compelled to do that stuff every day, he just was raised to be earnest and hardworking, and he saw that consistency made him strong and confident. So he sticks to it. It’s a very logical type of dedication, as opposed to an illogical compulsion (like OCD, there’s pretty much nothing logical about OCD). Think of Lida from My Hero Academia, but toned way down temperament-wise. He’s just trying to do the things he knows work and are the right things to do. However, because of that, he never surpassed his natural abilities-which is why the coach says he isn’t particularly skilled or talented.
“I am built upon the small things I do every day, and the end results are no more than a byproduct of that” that phrase kill me every single time, because yeah, kita's character isn't the most talented or energetic member of the team, but here's one fact: perseverance, that's what get him there, in the court, with a lot of monsters that loves volleyball more than themselves, and the phrase that his grandma says "someone is always watching, gods are everywhere" its just aaaah, so good, bacause AGAIN, yeah, there is someone always watching, and if you build your goal by "small" things like discipline and effort, at some point your gonna have your reward. The point here is: even when Kita decided to do that things just because he want to and not because he was used to or he wants to have merit/recognition, at the end of the day, if you follow the right steps and aim to your goal, someone will find you and maybe (just maybe), they will help you get to the top; to be in the court as captain, after working on it every single day
I'm not sure I explained very well how I feel about this character, but I think that simple phrases changed my perspective in, literally, EVERYTHING, sooooo yeaaaah, I could talk about it for hours hahaha but english is not my first languaje and i'm still missing a lot of words to explain myself:(

I'm not as methodical in every aspect of my life like Kita is, but I am with academics (I am, however, far more fearful about failure than I think Kita might be). I've had a moment where "somebody's always watching" as well. When I was in graduate school, I made a habit of studying in the library for 6-8 hours a day. One day a library employee came up to me and said, "I always see you here, and I want you to know that I see how hard you work." At the time, I had been struggling with a lot of things, and it made me content that my work was paying off, even if I didn't see it.
Just because Kita was properly introduced this episode, I didn't make my list before. But here I go - Sugawara - Nishinoya - Tendou - Kita - Bokuto May I include one more... - Takeda Sensei (Take-Chan is the best hahah) I'm so sad it's coming to an end. ☹ But I'm also watching other reactions of yours before Season 5 comes 😊

It's just Kita does it so thoroughly, while the others don't want to clean the toilets for obvious reasons.

Remember that Oikawa said once "You don't get good at receiving overnight" so i would imagine that's the reason Kita never got in until his 3rd year
