    The one that drives me crazy is that everything is a "love letter" nowadays!

    Whenever people ask if a new video game property is going to be “Break the video game curse”. Like video game movies and shows have been decent to great for about a decade now. We haven’t gotten a Mortal Kombat Annihilation or Uwe Boll movie in quite a while.

      There's not a lot I personally love but it's not because of some ominous "curse," Plus yeah you're right there's plenty of good examples; I'm a sucker for the Resident Evil movies for example

    I agree with you a thousand percent about a place being a character of its own. That has ALWAYS bothered me! I mean, unless you're talking about that horror movie where the church eats people.
    Movie reviewers (myself included) are insecure and lazy, so they want to sound smart, but they also like copying off other people's work. That's where most of these come from I think.

    Similar to “this is the Empire Strikes back of…” I’m always tired of when a new Star Wars, Terminator or Bond comes out and inevitably someone says “this is the best since Empire/T2/Goldfinger.” It’s not really saying anything and is also rarely true

    • @LetsCrashThisParade
      @LetsCrashThisParade  5 місяців тому

      Great pick, so true! "Best since" also implies that everybody agrees with whichever you say is best which is sorta arrogant if that makes sense.
      Thanks for watching/commenting and I love your videos btw

    The one movie where I would say that the setting feels like a character is To Live and Die in LA

      That's EXACTLY it! Lol, I actually joked with a friend of mine just last night that I should have said that very joke in this video but didn't think of it hahaha!

    I can be a little guilty of this myself but I try to give my thoughts on something and trying to explain why I like or hate something. I don't even use "superhero fatigue" because I don't really feel it, just want more from that genre. Also, definitely agree that sequels are not always bad. Fun and entertaining video.

    My personal pet peeve is 'Favourite X of the past Y years' (usually '5 - 10 years'), it just feels like the reviewer is too scared of someone going 'um what about this classic film from 1937?' to admit it's one of their favourite movies ever and is hedging their opinion. I dunno it just feels kinda fake and cowardly to me.
    I'm personally less annoyed by reviewer/cultural terms like 'superhero fatigue' and 'tour de force' because I appreciate that there are terms that immediately get everyone on the same page. I do get annoyed at people talking about superhero fatigue who don't really know what they're talking about but people jumping onto buzzwords and misusing them is common and I don't often hold it against the term itself.

    • @LetsCrashThisParade
      @LetsCrashThisParade  5 місяців тому +1

      I get that, I also get being the trepidation of not wanting to immediately call something an absolute favourite out of recency bias - But I also think people weigh older movies with way too much credit over new movies as if everything that comes out now is complete shit or something which in my opinion is not true at all.
      I'll even get accused of lying if I say a recent movie is an all time favourite if it's not deemed "old enough" lol

      @@LetsCrashThisParade Yeah I definitely get it more from smallish public figures like yourself trying to avoid shithead comments but the big boys like RLM and anonymous randos on social media doing it slightly irks me.

    Isn’t that funny? Phrases I hate are ones I never use. Like I never say, “It’s my jam”. What a stupid phrase. I never say, “cra-cra”. Like can we say the whole word? Like we graduated the first grade.

      It's just a bit of fun bro, not a big deal, no one's angry lol. Obviously it's a thing that happens - it's how language works and evolves, I'm just exaggerating the issue and pointing them out in a tongue in cheek way. If you watch closely I used my own footage of me saying a lot of the examples used too
