I came here after hearing of the death of Godwin Avenorgbor who was a colleague on Radio 2 of Akwasi Ampadu-Boateng for whom this song was made. Oh, this was the 70s and 80s. The first time I heard of the death of Happy Friend was when I heard this song. I hadn’t known he had passed on. Ampadu-Boateng was my mate at the School of Communication at Legon. I also left for Agege (1981) not knowing that he too had left GBC for Agege. So this song became special for me because of Happy Friend. And PSK Ampadu, the great singer and composer of hundreds of well loved songs, also passed on. Now, I wonder how many musicians paid tribute to Nana Ampadu by cutting a track in his honour!!! May the departed rest in everlasting peace!
