Love love love this video!! Review!! Thankyou I was literally going to buy this today and it’s a hell no. They should be ashamed to sell such junk . Looking forward to more laptop reviews . Btw cracked me up when you saw how much ram was being used
this is the best laptop storage is 57gb but it has good processor even ican play wit games
The first task was change the So to LocOs(debian) , at the máx dd storage usage for all program was 8gb, the rest for my files
Another hell 🔥 No to the Hell 🔥 no , I was going to buy it myself, at Walmart Thank Goodness I found this video...😊
One of my favourite tech UA-camrs on here. Love your videos!
Glad you like them!
I have one of these. I'm using it right now to write this comment. I added another 4 GB of RAM, wiped Windows from the eMMC and installed Manjaro Linux. For additional storage I just installed a 256 GB SD card. Has worked for over 18 months now flawlessly as a daily driver and travel laptop. Do yourself a favor and learn Linux - runs these cheap laptops so much better than bloated Windows.
Thank you! Do u know what brand sd card to get?
@@PrincessYonna1 I'm using a SanDisk Ultra, but any name brand SD should do.
Good advice 💯
I just bought the HP Stream 14" Laptop, Intel Celeron N4120, 4GB RAM, 64GB eMMC, Blue, Windows 11 (S mode) and I’m wondering what Ram sticks to buy so I can have 8gb
@@Vohnchy Some models allow RAM to be upgraded, some do not. Best bet is to search for your exact model (they've changed over the years) on Google, and see what you find. Alternately, open the case and look to see if your's uses DIMM slots for the RAM memory. If you have an empty slot, you can easily add a second stick of memory to match what is already in there. Search Google to see how to open the case - pretty simple when you know how,
I just got this today played around with it and I love it this works great for my 3rd work at home job I have 👍🏾
Let me get one of them wfh jobs 😅
Got this laptop as a gift and been watching reviews, tbh now that I've got it up and running it's not too bad but more ram is definitely needed. I'll see tomorrow if it helps but it's a decent machine if you wanna do basic websurfing and I like how there isn't too much give and flex as you'd expect for this price.
Another big recommendation to speed up the laptop is to remove HP software running in the background or on start up
@@DayoAworunse replying from the hp right now with upgraded ram. i can really feel a difference now. i also disabled the background stuff on startup and now im getting super fast boot time (or atleast relative haha) thanks for the help im super happy with this laptop

@@E38vip WHEREE DID YOU BUY THE RAM
Just got this computer 2 day’s ago, I’ve used it twice and so far it’s not that bad.
Update? My dad bought this exact laptop for my mom for web browsing and I am concerned about the performance this laptop gives.
Loving you channel mate, keep it up. FYI for anyone - on the vertical 720p is actually HD, FULL HD is what you call 1080p, SD (DVD) is 576P and 4K (Ultra HD) is 2060P on the vertical. Lol, 10yrs in the consumer electronics trade gets you pedantic about what is use less info to most people 😂.
I understand you wanting to stick with a name brand laptop for their reputation but Walmart also sells an extremely nice selection of Gateway laptops that they exclusively get from Acer, who actually owns the rights to the Gateway name and they licensed it out to various manufactures) but the specs, as well as the features, are really a great value! I got a 15.6 LTP screen with really nice viewing angles, a AMD Ryzen 7 3700U, quad core, 8 thread, CPU with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage and 10 battery life for just $279 plus tax! I am not usually very fond of Windows but this one done a decent job with Windows 11 and all in all I am fairly impressed with it's performance!
I literally just bought this computer like an hour ago and am watching this video before I decide to open it. The lack of speed is concerning.
its a month later,,, do you regret it?
@@eric-ph no. I'm not a gamer nor do I use mine for heavy streaming. My usage is primarily for business. I have no complaints as of right now.
I’m using this pc right now on Linux Mint, and it runs faster then Windows 10
@@eric-ph I have the same computer to only play sims 4…..it sucks I will be getting a MacBook soon
@@amarialiyah8590 ugh that’s why i was gonna get this laptop! Only for sims
Hey man, great video. I think it would be nice if you did a survey on UA-cam and your other platforms to further identify what contents people are looking forward to. Great video.
Noted!
Mine runs really smooth with a clean install of W11. I have a spare SD card that I use for storage. As far as cheap laptops go, this is one of the best I've used. The RAM does suck though. I wish they put in at least 6 gigs...
ive been hearing people talking about it maxing at 2,4 ghz but how does one get that
4 gp is what was sold 10 years ago. Now you know how fucking old this tech is
I have a similar one that came with W10S, which I converted to W10 Home & it was tolerable. Windows 11 is markedly slower. However, it runs really snappily on Linux Mint XFCE or Xubuntu. It would probably be good with Chrome OS Flex as well.
camera and mic where why i was interested in buying! Wanted a skype, teams, zoom laptop. thanks for helping me avoid a bust!
Seems like the HP Stream laptop is struggling a bit with Windows 11 and its 4GB of RAM. The display issues and slow setup process don't sound very promising either. Thanks for the honest review and sharing your experience with this budget-friendly laptop!
I really like the central trackpad. I really can't stand even slightly off center pads. I always click the wrong button. I might have to grab one of those for simple tasks while traveling. Pop a lightweight linux distro on it and it'll fly I bet.
OMG I need to view your videos daily, Your informational and silly. I enjoyed your review so much!
OMG when you notice that 70% of the 4gb ram was being used and nothing was open and running at the desktop face value hahahahhahA that was hilarious!
I'm now invested in your channel! LOL
( My twins broke 2 sets of HP STREAMS lol but it was only $199 new,, $119 used, I cared but not really. My heavy handed twin's must be their audience for this branch of hp lol)
Glad you enjoy the content!
memory usage is attributed to caching, it pre-loads files when it has some free memory to do so, and frees it up when active apps require it. How they say - unused ram is wasted ram.
Bro I just subscribed you are funny af good video 😭🔥
I've had this for 3 years now and honestly is really good if you take care of it(I didint and it broke only cause I dropped it a dozen times the past 3 years)but it's not a gaming laptop but you can play low storage games and speed on this is good after a while so yea
8:03 when you take a break from the PC and wanna do more outdoor activities but then go through this exact same thought process lmao.
I feel like a computer should meet these basic requirements
* have at 3 tabs in chrome with minimal lag
* playback 1080p60 Video (h.264, hevc) with minimal hitching, lag or dropped frames
* handle the Microsoft Office Suite with minimal slowdown
* Handle Adobe Acrobat Reader with minimal issue
* Play Light Games (minecraft, roblox, sims 4, fornight) with playable framerates
* handle light photo editing (brightness, contrast, saturation, basic text)
* be able to handle a zoom call with minimal lag
* have a usable keyboard and mouse
* have a webcam with 720p quality
* have a display with reasonable viewing angles and at least 1080P res
Any computer that doesnt meet these requirements are just E-WASTE thats obsolete the minute you buy it.
and as such pcs need to have a quad core processor, 8gb of ram, and a 128gb ssd
To get it working I change the SO to LocOs, from 126mb of free space I get 8gb, my model had 16GB OF DD
in the next video you should see if you can add ram to it and then see the difference
I wonder how much of the speed issues are caused by hp bloat ware taking up most the available memory resources. A fresh copy of windows would probably make a world of difference
This is also true!
i bought this a while ago and i thought it was my wifi , and the amount of frustration i had with myself because of this laptop is unbelievable. i should’ve looked at the GB before getting this . Good job on the vid though
Now that you can flash chrome I'm curious how it would run on this laptop
For a travel laptop, I recently bought a refurbished 13” MacBook Air for $179 that’s perfect for most people who need something simple. Plus it will actually have capable components. This thing looks unusable 🙃
Would this laptop be good for college work? Just homework and research basically
What is your video/audio setup in making this video if you don’t mind me asking. 2 cameras for sure? Mic? Switch on the fly? Or edited?
Two iPhones (Main & Top). Lav mid and I switch to the overhead stereo recording on the iPhone above
My previous laptop was just like this with 4gb of ram. Luckily there was an open 4gb ram slot. The 20 dollar upgrade was well worth it. Honestly the only chrome books should be shipped with 4gb of ram nowadays
Agreed, HP is pinching pennies providing this. An 8GB total upgrade would make this a compelling product
@@DayoAworunse where would I buy more ram?
How do you do that? I was thinking about getting this computer
watched this video on the same laptop but i upgraded the ram and done alot of tweaking to it but its a very good laptop and runs 4k videos on brave browser so much better GG
the freddie kruegar knife bro.
I just got this pc for school, I wanted this Asus Vivobook but it was sold out and my budget was super tight.
I took it out of S mode and cleaned up any bloatware. Its not the quickest thing but out of S mode it's pretty quick. My major complaint is the storage and the ram. It'll definitely need an upgrade immediately.
Other than that I've used it off and on for school and game streaming. It does okay, I would keep it to only that.
how did u do this
All i want a laptop to do is run a webcam for tabletop gaming . Is this suitable? No streaming or editing, just pretty much something as part of a spelltable setup.
I got this for school and a little web cam on the side it’s a nice size I agree it does love a little slow but not to the point I am regretting my purchase… it’s easy to set up I think hp overall makes good quality items.. I would like to be able to download more apps but I guess that’s just a Microsoft thing other than that I have no complaints I have had them lap top for 3 weeks now
you can take it out of S mode and you will be able to download more apps. Unless you're talking about memory
can you play a game where it not freezing every sec?
Very entertaining video, thanks! 💜
About that “HD” label: Strictly speaking 1366x768 resolution on a 14” screen results in rougly 110ppi, which is considered to be High Density. Even 720p (1280x720) falls within the “HD” defenition, according to Wikipedia. HD is a TV-standard. It’s not the best indicator to use for computer screens - if you ask me. But indeed, nowadays I think 99% of viewers would agree you’d expect to get 1920x1280 when the label says “HD”.
polignano a mare is a place in Puglia, south east of Italy. a place worth visiting!
I have no idea what is causing that laptop to be so slow when it's hardly doing anything. I have an Asus laptop that I paid $140. I purchased it for travel. Mine is 11.6 inches, Windows 11, Intel Celeron N4020 processor, 4 gb Ram, 64 gb Storage, Wifi 5. My little Asus laptop certainly can't compare to a $800+ laptop BUT I am blown away with the performance of this little PC. It has a great responsive keyboard and I have no problem staying connected to the internet. Web pages load quickly as do MS programs with no lag. UA-cam and video streaming sites play flawlessly. MS Office runs just as well as it does on my more expensive PC. The screen is matte which helps to compensate some but it is not enough to be a deal breaker. The one thing I wish Asus would have not skimped so much on is the video camera -it doesn't need to be the best -but average would be nice. All in all I am not going to complain. I have a very responsive zippy little laptop and it even comes with an open SSD slot to add a NVMe.2 to increase storage up to 500 gb. Just remember before you purchase a PC whatever kind no matter the price rang, be sure to do your homework and know exactly what you are buying. Compare prices and watch and read several reviews. Hopefully your research will payoff and you will be satisfied with your purchase. If not make sure the seller excepts returns before you buy. I'd also stay far away from these HP Stream laptops. Not sure why but they have negative reviews.
Mr. Dayo what if I purchase this Laptop an a 1 terabyte memory hard drive, would it make a difference?
Hello from Gatlinburg TN Smoky Mountains Park...a friend is buying me this to edit my UA-cam video and I've never used a laptop before... Question, will I understand this and not be annoyed? Lol. Great job!
I’ve had this for 6 years now and to be honest it’s really good...
What do you think of this for college classes? Or which laptop would you recommend? Not too expensive lol
I think you’ll be better off with a chrome book than this tbh
Good video overall. 5:05 C'mon now, that "slowness" out of the box is because Windows is INSTALLING, not booting. That's a one-time event while Windows settles in, searches for new hardware drivers and updates. Subsequent boots are MUCH faster, you should say that and show that. These Stream 14s are capable computers for general use, I have several and use them for teaching programming and they work just fine. The laptop comes with some pre-installed HP bloatware, it will be snappier if you wipe the SSD and do a clean Win 11 install. You can swap in an 8GB RAM module for better performance. External USB storage and/or cloud storage should be used. As you know, this Celeron N4000, 4GB/64GB are the bare minimums to run Windows 11, and Windows takes ~30GB by itself. That Windows size will inevitably grow as future updates gobble up more SSD space, as happened with Windows 10.
I was curious about wiping the ssd AND swapping out the 4GB Module so I am happy you left this comment!
I love your laptop videos, however, 1366x768 is HD resolution, HD+ is 1600x900, and FHD is 1920x1080. I hope this helps for future reference, overall I still like the video. :)

The motherboard smells good, jajaja, I like your video!!
Used think pad laptops from a couple years back would be great.
I took my chromebook back and got this due to it not being compatible with windows apps. Just need it for school.
Mine is so slow and take a while till let me click on anything and take longer to respond and open, we bought it couple months ago and I barely use it why it’s slow?
Does Microsoft account make it slow?
are you able to dowload games or apps on it, i’m trying to buy one for my son next week and wanted to know if you can download games etc.
It can. But you’ll be playing games on the lowest settings at most
I’m getting this laptop for school cuz I hate using the Chromebook’s at school I might try to upgrade the ram if I can to make it a bit faster for work
I tried an hp laptop like that and that strange eye strain thing was what made me return it
Isn’t the Celeron a rebranded Atom processor? They didn’t run windows 7 starter worth a dang!
It's real HD (actually slightly better), just not FHD (Full HD).
HD is 1280x720p
FHD is 1920x1080p
That laptop is 1366x768p, which TBH is about average for a normal cheap/older laptop.
I've heard that the HP Stream was slow & this proves it.
Any HP laptop that you do recommend?
I wiped Windows and installed a Linux distro called Solus 4.3 - the performance is dramatically improved. I was even able to play a 720p UA-cam video with good quality with 9 tabs open in the Opera browser. This isn't even remotely possible with Windows.
In college I ended up wiping my windows laptop and used Linux Mint. If people gave it a chance, Linux for basic tasks and web browser apps is more than capable than windows.
I use to have an hp stream with windows 10 with 32 gb of storage, I wiped that thing so many times.
If I want to just use it to play The Sims 4 would that be okay? I have a Chrome book and it doesn't run The Sims. All I want a laptop for it that.
That EMMC is worse than an HDD actually.
An HDD would often be about the same speed as the EMMC, but with a much larger capacity... as well as being replaceable/upgradeable. EMMC though, is typically soldered on directly to the motherboard and cannot be easily replaced/upgraded.
that smelling test 😂
Is it slow because of the internet you got?
I may buy this & add Tiny 11 to it as an experiment
Would this be okay for school use?
I got a Chromebook for free. I liked it but Chromebooks aren't great I can't run anything until I ran up to this cheap laptop in Walmart and I am going to plan to save money and buy it. Thanks for the review!
It’s not a chromebook

You can
Would it be able to run VRChat to Twitch?

What's your take on the Lenovo IdeaPad S145?
Not sure what spec configuration you have, but the ones I have aren't the greatest, but it looks to be upgradable which is nice. The screen resolution is really low and I wouldn't recommend it for that price point.
I am primarily going to use this computer to copy my iTunes library to this computer. Does it have a decent speed while transferring files to this computer?
The processor is basic, but you can have better speeds if you added more ram and swaped out the harddrive for a solid state drive.
Okay, thank you

Well for me Walmart has the best ground beef and meat selection. 😆 I would not think of getting a laptop there but they also have good TV's Nice video.
I'll have to checkout the meat section then.

I got mine free in a raffle lol for only using it once a month or something like that it works just fine. The computer being Pretty laggy at times is my only complaint. And that I had to Ofcourse download google lol and windows doesn’t like when you do that.

@•Greyded• ok thx
For 200$ and less this is a pretty basic, good laptop.
Bro put so many fingerprints in seconds 💀
I like it I'm going to use it for my yt channel and etc
Well if you can upgrade ram memory processor boom gaming laptop
Maybe if you also bundled it with an SSD which I'm pretty sure is impossible since i think it used emmc storage AKA a SD card soldered to the motherboard. Ram upgrade would not really improve anything tho. And I'm pretty sure the added strain will make it run hotter then Arizona and I dont think it has a fan.
I got it the other day. It's sooooooo bad 😢 i have to return it!!!
This is on sale for $129 right now
Where?
Thank fedex for that
