Good video overall. 5:05 C'mon now, that "slowness" out of the box is because Windows is INSTALLING, not booting. That's a one-time event while Windows settles in, searches for new hardware drivers and updates. Subsequent boots are MUCH faster, you should say that and show that. These Stream 14s are capable computers for general use, I have several and use them for teaching programming and they work just fine. The laptop comes with some pre-installed HP bloatware, it will be snappier if you wipe the SSD and do a clean Win 11 install. You can swap in an 8GB RAM module for better performance. External USB storage and/or cloud storage should be used. As you know, this Celeron N4000, 4GB/64GB are the bare minimums to run Windows 11, and Windows takes ~30GB by itself. That Windows size will inevitably grow as future updates gobble up more SSD space, as happened with Windows 10.

I got a 15.6 LTP screen with really nice viewing angles, a AMD Ryzen 7 3700U, quad core, 8 thread, CPU with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage and 10 battery life for just $279 plus tax! Seems like the HP Stream laptop is struggling a bit with Windows 11 and its 4GB of RAM. The display issues and slow setup process don't sound very promising either. Thanks for the honest review and sharing your experience with this budget-friendly laptop!
Just a couple of work arounds for you, if you are on a budget and have a little skill, DO NOT BUY this New!!! Buy used in good contrition and with a little work and smart shopping Upgrade!!! Bypass the eMMC for an SSD, the eMMC is your bottleneck, as eMMC is on par to an SD Card. Swap RAM to 8GB and as you are upgrading a used device use "Off Brand" hardware. My 2017 HP Stream went from "Can't run Windows 10 anymore" to Running Windows 10 and Adobe Photoshop CS2 ( Photo Editing on the go) + playing Games (Older Titles) on a 1920x1080 IPS display. All in Under $200 CDN ($145 US), on a newer model the same upgrades will surprise you! A little time, some simple tools, some cheap hardware gets you a fun little laptop.
I have a similar one that came with W10S, which I converted to W10 Home & it was tolerable. Windows 11 is markedly slower. However, it runs really snappily on Linux Mint XFCE or Xubuntu. It would probably be good with Chrome OS Flex as well.
I just got this pc for school, I wanted this Asus Vivobook but it was sold out and my budget was super tight. I took it out of S mode and cleaned up any bloatware. Its not the quickest thing but out of S mode it's pretty quick. My major complaint is the storage and the ram. It'll definitely need an upgrade immediately. Other than that I've used it off and on for school and game streaming. It does okay, I would keep it to only that.
That EMMC is worse than an HDD actually. An HDD would often be about the same speed as the EMMC, but with a much larger capacity... as well as being replaceable/upgradeable. EMMC though, is typically soldered on directly to the motherboard and cannot be easily replaced/upgraded.
I wiped Windows and installed a Linux distro called Solus 4.3 - the performance is dramatically improved. I was even able to play a 720p UA-cam video with good quality with 9 tabs open in the Opera browser. This isn't even remotely possible with Windows.
In college I ended up wiping my windows laptop and used Linux Mint. If people gave it a chance, Linux for basic tasks and web browser apps is more than capable than windows.
I have no idea what is causing that laptop to be so slow when it's hardly doing anything. I have an Asus laptop that I paid $140. I purchased it for travel. Mine is 11.6 inches, Windows 11, Intel Celeron N4020 processor, 4 gb Ram, 64 gb Storage, Wifi 5. My little Asus laptop certainly can't compare to a $800+ laptop BUT I am blown away with the performance of this little PC. It has a great responsive keyboard and I have no problem staying connected to the internet. Web pages load quickly as do MS programs with no lag. UA-cam and video streaming sites play flawlessly. MS Office runs just as well as it does on my more expensive PC. The screen is matte which helps to compensate some but it is not enough to be a deal breaker. The one thing I wish Asus would have not skimped so much on is the video camera -it doesn't need to be the best -but average would be nice. All in all I am not going to complain. I have a very responsive zippy little laptop and it even comes with an open SSD slot to add a NVMe.2 to increase storage up to 500 gb. Just remember before you purchase a PC whatever kind no matter the price rang, be sure to do your homework and know exactly what you are buying. Compare prices and watch and read several reviews. Hopefully your research will payoff and you will be satisfied with your purchase. If not make sure the seller excepts returns before you buy. I'd also stay far away from these HP Stream laptops. I’m getting this laptop for school cuz I hate using the Chromebook’s at school I might try to upgrade the ram if I can to make it a bit faster for work
No lie, it's a halfway decent laptop when you can get a lightweight Linux distro on there. I installed Debian XFCE on mine, and it made a HUGE difference. When it was running Windows 10S, it was underwhelming. When I switched it to regular Windows 10, the OS ate up most of the storage, and the performance slowed down drastically. When I put Debian on it, I basically turned it into a Chromebook on steroids, albeit with Firefox instead of Chrome, and MUCH more offline usability.
Yeah, this piece of plastic garbage is only usable if you have a super light version of Linux on it. I literally have 1 GB OF STORAGE FREE BECAUSE WINDOWS EATS ALL THE FUCKIN STORAGE.

no. Your going to need a lot more ram 16gb if you want to have all the fun you want with your games, and 512gb of storage at least for a little bit of games. 1tb is recommended though. For gaming as well you are going to want a good graphics card to ensure a smooth gaming experience. I recommend NVIDA for a good graphics card. And that intel processor is not ideal for gaming at all. If you want a gaming laptop please purchase one meant for gaming by like Razor orr HP Victus or their HP Pavillion line, even Asus.
Not sure what spec configuration you have, but the ones I have aren't the greatest, but it looks to be upgradable which is nice. The screen resolution is really low and I wouldn't recommend it for that price point.
Jist purchased this from walmart also bough a 2012 mac pro 10 yrs old refurbished and even that is better than this model as far as graphics and camera. The camera is so gross. Any laptop thats worth buying its better to pay over 600 dollars for anything decent. This was a waste of money

What do you think of this for college classes? Or which laptop would you recommend? Not too expensive lol
I think you’ll be better off with a chrome book than this tbh
Would this laptop be good for college work? Just homework and research basically
I tried an hp laptop like that and that strange eye strain thing was what made me return it
Would you recommend it for gaming like roblox etc?
Isn’t the Celeron a rebranded Atom processor? They didn’t run windows 7 starter worth a dang!
Mr. Dayo what if I purchase this Laptop an a 1 terabyte memory hard drive, would it make a difference?
I just need this to run a software for tuning my cars ecu. I hope it’ll be good enough
What car?
They also offer higher RAM options like 16gb
If I want to just use it to play The Sims 4 would that be okay? I have a Chrome book and it doesn't run The Sims. All I want a laptop for it that.
I've heard that the HP Stream was slow & this proves it.
I have this computer and I had it for a while it got some of the job done but its a scam because $220 is over the top and I could not leave a app open and open something else without it lagging and dropping to 10 fps!
its a great computer for kids meal.
@@Melodie_Info3 agreed
@@RupturedNetWork You probably would like this laptop if your just not into gaming alot just working then this would suit your heart.
HP - 15.6" Touch-Screen Laptop - Intel Core i3 - 8GB Memory - 256GB SSD - Natural Silver
best buy deal $500
@@Melodie_Info3 I agree I had this one for a while but its good if your not into gaming like you said, But for the price its a little over the top because you could maybe get a better one for the same price.
@@Melodie_Info3 Also $500 is WAY TOO MUCH!!!!
My wife just brought me one home a pink model it was on clearance arrgh. I have a Lenovo flex 3 chrome book no windows is why she got it for me apparently she heard me complaining chrome wasn't an option to download Adobe but I got around it using app. My question is since I haven't opened it yet do I really need or want this turd of a laptop.?
that smelling test 😂
I just got this. I have installed nothing. I forgot my password. Is there a way to reset the computer?
Did anyone upgrade their RAM to 8gb? If so did you notice a performance difference?
Hello from Gatlinburg TN Smoky Mountains Park...a friend is buying me this to edit my UA-cam video and I've never used a laptop before... Question, will I understand this and not be annoyed? Lol. Great job!
Mine crash today I bought it in 2020😢. It turns on but black screen.
Any HP laptop that you do recommend?
Would this be okay for school use?
The motherboard smells good, jajaja, I like your video!!
8:03 when you take a break from the PC and wanna do more outdoor activities but then go through this exact same thought process lmao.
I am primarily going to use this computer to copy my iTunes library to this computer. Does it have a decent speed while transferring files to this computer?
The processor is basic, but you can have better speeds if you added more ram and swaped out the harddrive for a solid state drive.
Okay, thank you
watched this video on the same laptop but i upgraded the ram and done alot of tweaking to it but its a very good laptop and runs 4k videos on brave browser so much better GG
If it had 16 gb would it be faster?
What is your video/audio setup in making this video if you don’t mind me asking. 2 cameras for sure? Mic? Switch on the fly? Or edited?
Two iPhones (Main & Top). Lav mid and I switch to the overhead stereo recording on the iPhone above
I mean the dirt cheap windows laptops are just chromebooks taxed with the price of a heavier OS
Used think pad laptops from a couple years back would be great.
I use to have an hp stream with windows 10 with 32 gb of storage, I wiped that thing so many times.
i had the 2016 version of this with soldered 2GB RAM on an Intel Celeron N3040 and it barely worked lol
Do you know when the computer was realeasd ?
@•Greyded• ok thx
I just want it to watch sports any thoughts ? Should I get it
Thats fine but still slow internet to process even if you have the fastest internet wifi in the world.
Useful for just what you want to use it for from what you say?
Can you play sims 4 on this labtop ?
Well if you can upgrade ram memory processor boom gaming laptop
Would it be able to run VRChat to Twitch?
I have a Acer with the Celeron and man its the same very slow😢
polignano a mare is a place in Puglia, south east of Italy. a place worth visiting!
Um idk if any one is seeing this but can someone tell me if the HP Stream 14" HD 1366 x 768 Laptop - Intel N4120, 64GB, 4GB, Window 11, Office 365 - Rose Gold is good for gameing?
Companies in general should make 4 GB laptops come with Chrome OS Flex
I may buy this & add Tiny 11 to it as an experiment
Is it slow because of the internet you got?
that dosent effect performed the laptop parts inside do
What's your take on the Lenovo IdeaPad S145?
Not sure what spec configuration you have, but the ones I have aren't the greatest, but it looks to be upgradable which is nice. The screen resolution is really low and I wouldn't recommend it for that price point.
Is this good for like editing? I just bought this right now ??
What type of editing are you doing?
@@DayoAworunse music video editing?
What is out there similar that you suggest to get and it is actually good?
I would get the Acer Aspire 5
For 200$ and less this is a pretty basic, good laptop. Anything above 200$ I wouldn’t get this.
11:41 That's what she said!!!! 🎁
Jist purchased this from walmart also bough a 2012 mac pro 10 yrs old refurbished and even that is better than this model as far as graphics and camera. The camera is so gross. Any laptop thats worth buying its better to pay over 600 dollars for anything decent. This was a waste of money
I spent over 800 on a laptop and i cant even get past the homescreen now so I decided im not spending a lot of money on it anymore
