How to assemble engine VVT-i Toyota Part 31: Timing chain cover
I know this is old, just watched to have an idea where to put the bead of RTV but for the love of God I hope by now you learned not to scrap aluminum surface with any blade other than a plastic blade they make specific for this task of cleaning the old gasket out of the surfaces and acetone; a blade can damage the aluminum surface, especially if one watching is new to do mechanic work; also; instructions on gasket makers clearly state to tight bolts manually and leave the gasket for one hour to cure a little THEN do the torquing, not the way you doing it here Peter, oh well, I got what I needed so other than the no no to scratching the aluminum surfaces and the premature torque with the gasket still too wet, great video Peter! Thank you for showing what the manual does not shows!
I was here for the same reason.... But God was that cringy or what?!?
Thanks for the video. You should be a youtube sensation. Your videos are so detailed and you make it look easy.
Thanks.
Mr Peter you are the best 💪💪💯
Great video bud I'm doing the same thing to my 1zz that's in my celica! I have one question is their any certain way to install a new vvti intake gear?? Or can I just simply take off the old one and install the new one???
Ian Darrah You could just simply take off the old one and install the new one.
Thanks a lot bro..
So to replace the headgasekt your have to remove the water pump, atl and all belts to remove the timing cover. then gears and timing chain?
Correct?
Yes.
Hi Peter, Thanks for the video! I have a question: can I replace a time chain cover gasket with-out removing the engine and apply RTV silicon to the cover ( not the engine) upon assembly?
Thank you for your time. Jay
Very difficult.
Oh alright, thank you for the answer !
More difficult than remove the engine?
The manual said to apply the belt tensioner and the water pump in an hour time frame when you put on the cover. Is it ok if that doesn’t happen?
Your manual is OK too. :-)
can this be done without removing the engine?
Difficult

where is the plate for cranckshaft position sensor
Noted
He forgot to put the Crank shaft gear Plate for the Crank Shaft position sensor before closing the timing chain cover.
Aunt Soledad I installed it later. And Thanks.
I think the main purpose of this video is to show you how to seal up the timing cover only. It's just a demonstration of a specific step in the whole job. It was good that you brought it up. Good Eye!
It was installed in the previous video #30

New gasket is good always.
