    I'm so bored with USA, Janie Jones and White Riot
    audio from last 2 songs replaced with an excellent soundboard recording, the missing bit in Janie Jones recreated from other parts of "Rude Boy"
    part 1 is here : • Clash - Live at the Ap...

    I remember standing in the stalls watching rows of seats hit the ground, love the clash . met the band afterwards , Topper in his fur coat... My Hero .....

      I was in the stalls and not well.
      It all kicked off and these two Ned's in suits in front of me turned round and said " it's a bit quiet , isn't it ?'
      I had no reply and then they systematically destroyed about six rows down the left hand side as you look at the band.
      I was mostly sweating and trying not to throw up.

    On this tour shown on the video they were supported by The Specials AKA (before they became just The Specials) and Suicide - a synthesizer duo from New York, who were fucking brilliant (though just about everyone else hated them and booed them constantly)

    Glasgow.
    The Clash played quite a bit in 77 and 78 - they played Glasgow in October and December 77, and in summer 78, when this footage was shot, and The Clash were arrested.

      aye fact being some of the fans out the stage door complained at the band for just standing by whilst watching them get pummeled by the psychotic bouncers and in anger Joe Strummer smashed a bottle on the ground and got nicked by the police straight after, and then Paul protested at the police and was nicked then too.

    Rock and Roll, Its a bit like sex appeal' - you either have it or you dont. Those first thunderous riffs after Joe proclaims 'this song made possible by Freddie Laker...' are pure sex appeal. What a riff, what a tune, what a band. Most bands in their whole career would never be able to summon such verve, energy and joy to be alive.

    It's really believably true and a HUGE understatement of the Clash hugely berating those thug bouncers for beating on the crowd and some of them backstage. I went to see a Clash tribute band called London Calling at the 100 Club and they really captured the same spirit of the real band here just like this, when a fight broke out and they refused to play until those troublemakers were out. If both them and The Clash aren't A band, then I don't know what is.

      It's a scripted film Jon. The musics real, but the events with the bouncers are part of the film and the bouncers are actors.
      'Rude Boy' is the name of the film, look it up.

    @MorskiAkvarijum you could be right - I had a feeling his anger was directed towards his lacky who dared to sort out the twisted guitar lead. The best bit of this video is that bit when Topper smashes his drums for all he's worth!

  • @jesus3373
    @jesus3373 12 років тому +2

    Yeah if it was The Specials I'd have definitely remembered. Convinced it was 1977 now. White Riot was played as the encore. I'm going to look into it and see if I can find out who the support band was. If I'd have kept all my ticket stubs instead of selling them it may have had it on it, although they usually just said 'plus support'.
