      Exactly. He must have forgotten that Neville was also born on the same day, meaning that he could have been the "Chosen One" as well. But, of course, we know Voldemort acted hastily and chose to attack the half-blood and therefore marking Harry as his equal. The universe didn't have much to do with it, at least not in the sense mentioned in the video.

      It would sorta make sense...for an example...after Cedric died everyone thought he was
      crazy. I think that SOME of the people thought that if the dark lord wasn’t the one to murder him, than who was. Honestly he was, as we all know, a very excelled student for his age...and if he wanted to win so bad he could’ve had enough hate to actually kill somebody (super hypothetical). Super unlikely...but Tom Riddle was supposed to be one of the best students, but that didn’t really turn out very good. And, Harry Potter, being the person who almost killed Voldemort when he was a baby, was a threat. A threat to one of the most powerful bad wizards of all time, you would have to be VERY good or VERY bad, especially as a baby that was the only one to survive an attack that everyone else tested to would have died.........So some people who don’t know how trustworthy Harry Potter was as an overall, would probably find hime frightening. (Hah just realized how much of that actually retained in my brain😂)

    I always assumed that Harry was “the boy who lived” because people realized he had survived the killing curse, not because they thought Voldemort let him live.

    • @hsitgon
      @hsitgon 3 роки тому +35

      Agreed... I thought it was because Voldemort *tried* to kill him, as he had so easily killed so many other mature, trained wizards (including - most people believed - both of Harry's powerful parents), but somehow this untrained infant without even a wand somehow (they believe) blocked and reflected his killing curse back at him. Imagine an unarmed, untrained infant powerful enough to kill or at least destroy the physical body of the known deadliest wizard of their day... The potential of such a deadly power would be absolutely terrifying.

    • @alyssakays367
      @alyssakays367 3 роки тому +32

      Exactly! I love how “Moody” puts it in chapter 14 of GoF when he’s talking about the Avada Kedavra “Not pleasant. And there’s no countercurse. There’s no blocking it. Only one known person has survived it, and he’s sitting right in front of me.” Those lines almost give me chills because it highlights exactly why Harry is called the boy who lived and why it was so extraordinary that he survived.

    • @WaveForceful
      @WaveForceful 3 роки тому +6

      Voldemort didn't let him live, he tried to legit kill a baby but unwittingly created a horcrux. Harry survived because of the powerful spell that lily casted, a spell powerful enough to reflect the killing curse.
      I assume the reflected killing curse is what destroyed Voldemort's physical body but he only survived due to his horcrux's and thus his minions have been trying to find him a physical body ever since, hence why the death eaters needed Harry potter alive, they needed his blood.

  • @hsitgon
    @hsitgon 3 роки тому +5

    Interesting take... My thought has always been, since most did not know that Harry survived because of his mother's sacrifice, they feared him because, though he was such a young infant, he was already so powerful to have (again, in their eyes) instinctively and without training defeated the most dangerous and one of the most powerful wizards they could imagine. If he was that powerful as an infant, they imagined, how much more powerful had he grown in th years since he had been secreted away by the most powerful remaining wizards of the wizarding world? Then too, most wizards did not start seeing their powers appear until much later in their preteen years iirc. In their assumption, his terrifying powers developed at an incredibly early age. No one outside that small group knew where he had been hidden, or that he had been left with muggles and knew nothing of his background. For all they knew, Dumbledore could have in fact hidden him away somewhere and had been coaching him from infancy on.
    Then too, there is what you mention, the fact that he is an unknown. Given all those assumptions, it would be easy for the factor of being unknown to push him over the top from being scary to being terrifying, in some of their eyes. That's one reason I think he closest early friends were a muggle-born who had not been raised to fear him and a Weasley who had been raised always feeling a little inferior to all those older brothers, both of whom blossomed into some of the more powerful wizards through the challenges they faced by being his friends. I do think the fears people had of Harry became self-fulfilling, because they pushed the three friends into situations earlier than others and forced them to excel or die.
    But I am rambling. Sorry! Just my thoughts.

      He wasn’t powerful enough even if he wanted to. Mcgonagall would’ve beaten him in a heartbeat. So would many other characters like flitwick, shacklebolt, aberforth, molly, newt (with his beasts). Also, harry wouldn’t have gained much followers as he wasn’t anywhere near the power of Voldemort so none of Voldemort’s followers would fear him enough to join him and they wouldn’t join due to shared beliefs as they did hate him as well. He always counted on hermione when he was in an unknown situation, so I don’t think he would be a good leader to the death eaters.

    Barty Crouch Jnr posing as Prof. Moody says to his class (in the movie) that only one person has survived the death spell and that person is in this room.(referring to Harry) This is why he was the boy who survived. Not because he was chosen by Voldemort, but because he lived the death curse..The scar on his head was proof that there was an attack. I don't know where you get these theories from but it's based on what we know as truth

    • @killemall771
      @killemall771 3 роки тому +2

      It's actually one in the same. Voldemort chose Harry to be 'the Chosen One' when he attacked the Potters. Harry survived the killing curse due to his mother's sacrifice ('power the Dark Lord knows not') and was left a scar as well as a piece of Voldemort's soul ('Dark Lord will mark him as his equal'). Harry is 'the Boy Who Lived' because he did survive, like Moody says, and because of that, he is 'the Chosen One', hand-picked by Voldemort himself. Or vice-versa.

    Didnt voldemort cause his own demise? His soul was so fragile from making too many horcruxes that when he tried to kill Harry, his soul was so fragile it unintentionally made another horcrux, thus rebounding and killing voldemort instead. Dark magic always has a price and he thought he could simply make so many horcruxes with no consequence. He doomed himself with his own greed for power and immortality.

      @ajrochester9364 3 роки тому

      You almost just answered your own question dude! Sometimes people try to get on the good side of the person they fear the most. Say like for example someone is being bullied or someone watches someone else bully someone and they laugh and shake that persons hand? Sometimes being a bum lick and sucker shows you are scared of being on the wrong side of that person so you try to be on their good side! Also there was loads of rumours about Harry too he was either the hero to be the one to actually kill the dark lord when he returned . Harry also as a baby “stopped” Voldemort so his name would carry weight. And can’t forget people also thought he was the second coming of Voldemort . He was celebrity Harry Potter in the wizarding world his name held it self with gossip and Rumours had a lot of fear or hope . So either way people was either going to fear Harry in different ways, suck up to him or actually believe he was the one to end the war and finish of Voldemort (we can’t forget there was also rumours he was seen and spotted Voldemort not dead but not looking alive either. If you know you know. ) So of course they knew about Harry due to his scar also by the way. But yeah that’s my opinion 🙌🏽

But maybe, just maybe, Harry's 'reputation' after Voldemort disappeared kept Death Eaters from seeking him out as well. The two dovetail when you realize a DE could think thrice about attacking Harry, to whom no harm had come, doubly thinking their Dark Lord was truly gone for all time - else something bad would have happened by then.

That’s why Harry and Dumbledore were able to destroy six and Voldemort himself destroyed the seventh when he “killed” Harry, making himself vulnerable to death.

And I´m sure we all assumed the same thing the wizarding world thought at the time: Harry must possess some unexplainable POWER. which is not true.

The second and most strong and most important is when he fill down from Hagrid’s hands after all thought he was killed by Voldemort, this meant without any spot of suspicion for all wizard who have witnessed it , that he is not killable , and the proof of this judgement is that may of Voldemort supporters standing behind him started to fly away leaving the ground of Hogwarts including Lucius Malfoy with fear on their faces , this boy can not be killed even by Voldemort...

    It would sorta make sense...for an example...after Cedric died everyone thought he was crazy.

    It was common knowledge that Harry had survived the killing curse. fake Mad Eye moody even says so himself in his class about the unforgivable curses, Harry is the only person to have survived it. So it doesn't make any sense to think that Voldemort "let him live". No one would have thought that, knowing that he was hit with a killing curse. So that point is not valid, he was the boy who lived because he survived it, not because Voldemort changed his mind about killing him.

    Here is the problem that NO ONE ever realizes or accepts there were only 3 people in the room the night Voldemort failed to kill Harry. Voldemort, Harry, and Lily. Only ONE actually knows what really happened. Harry was 15 months old so he didn’t know, and even when he saw though the dementors, his memory only showed what happened that night, not what his parents had done to ensure his survival. So not Harry. Voldemort had by his own admission know idea what happened and in GOF gives an explanation that is merely an extension of what someone like Wormtail told him the world believes. No knowledge beyond what happened that night, no real why or how. So not him either. The only one that really knew was Lily. She died that night taking that knowledge with her. Now before you say it, her refusal to move and being killed on its own did nothing. We all know the Potter’s were not the only family Voldemort and his Death Eaters killed. We also that other parents would have done as Lily did and yet it did not have the affect that Lily’s death did. We also know that the killing curse, Avada Kedavra, doesn’t leave a mark. Yet Harry has a lightning shaped scar on his head. Whatever charms or ruins or other magic Lily and James used on Harry to protect him we have no knowledge of. Not even that “Great” Albus “throw stunners at the guy throwing AK’s at you” Dumbledore has any knowledge of this. Only Lily would have known of those in the nursery that night and she died. Dumbledore though Hargrid and his own circumvention of the Law. Gets his version of the story out. Letting Harry’s Godfather rott in Askaban without trial. Thus starting the rumors of The Boy Who Lived. Now aside from that Voldemort was NOT even with 7 Horcruxes immortal. After all we are told that he discovered ritual involved in making them in the restricted section at Hogwarts. So we know he was not the first to make one. And HP lore says the first known one was made by Harpo the Foul but it does not say he created the ritual. Bill Weasley seems to understand what they are which indicates he came across such items as a curse breaker. We do NOT see any ancient Egyptian or Greek or Roman, etc wizards or witches walking around therefore we can be sure that all the Horcrux actually does is protect you from any death except natural causes. Which means despite Voldemort’s( a well established liar) protestations of immortality he was in fact not immortal.

Think about it, everything that happens after you heard your future had to happen that way in order for you to expirience your future. So if Voldemort didnt kill James and Lilly, story would be different but he would die in the end again. Because it was his destiny.

    The hippogriff is based on a real bird, believe it or not! Look at it at 5:03 then Google "the harpy eagle" they look so much alike it's kinda scary that that bird actually exists

    But the Sorting Hat knew that Harry could have been a great dark wizard not just because of a piece of Voldemort but because what he had went through remember Snape was never a evil person but he had a terrible home life The only positive thing he had was Lily
